Just back from a last-minute deal to Athina Apartments in Crete..
First room we were in was basic, but clean and had what you needed...First night though was noisy...We were in the flight path from the air-port,Had the main road opposite and the noise of the 'crickets' from the olive-groves which surrounded us...(not 'quiet' as described)..
The lady from the hotel was lovely..she moved us to a much quieter room which was also cooler..
The walk to the beech was a long way.Taking around 20mins..This walk twice aday (if you ate on the beech-front)was tiring...
We did find a great family run taverna beech, turn right) called 'Perigiali',,formerly known as the windmill...It is set back from a bar with a thatched roof..
The food was great, and cheap compared to others we looked at... The family were welcoming, talkitive and wanting to please...
    Highly reccommended....

we were very disappointed with our holiday. The athina appartment was very basic & 20 min walk to nearest beach & shop. It was a 10 min taxi to local town. There was no air con-only a fan at 10 euros! Had to sleep with the door open so we got biten & were kept awake by either crickets or a local cow mooing & dogs barking all night!! The shower flooded every time we used it.
There is only a few restaurants 20 mins away, you have to walk down a very dark, dusty track to get to them-so take a torch ...

Quiet place, daily cleaning, useful kitchen, great swiming pool, near Hersonissos. Some distance (15 min walk) to beach. But good gym! Great point for relaxing and getting of to sites. Recommend to everyone ..

My 2 weeks at Athina Apartments in Anissaras make me want to book again next year, the owners were so nice to you they made you feel like family, after the too weeks are up i didn't wanna go back, I would recommend this to anyone who asks, the people who start complaining about the resorts, what do they expect for a self catering 3star?

For such a small complex, the owners do their best to provide relaxation for all. Of course they are happy for you to spend your euros in the bar - it is a business after all. They do provide food other than chips and the menu is quite small but if you look at the blackboard behind the bar other choices are available, incuding Greek food.
There are a few local tavernas with an extensive Greek menu so you don't have to have chips all the time! The Athina provides good breakfasts and the kettle i ...

We have just come back from our holiday at the Athina Classic Apartments and enjoyed our two weeks very much. We had read some terrible reports after we had booked this last minute holiday and we were worried what we would find. The rooms were clean although basic, the pool area was kept very clean and the garden was lovely with palm trees for shade, from the pool area you also have a view of the sea and olive groves, most of the first floor apartments also have sea views, the apartments do bac ...

After reading so many bad reviews about the Athina I was quite worried about going, but over all I had a fantastic holiday!! I went with 5 of my friends and we all had a brilliant time. We had a room that slept all 6 of us, it had an upstairs with 3 beds and a bathroom with was a nice size for 6 of us sharing, although the shower was pretty poor it was still usable. We also had a downstairs with 3 beds and a kitchen, or rather a fridge, 2 hobs and a few cupboards. To say we were self catering th ...

We aked to be moved on our first day as it was so depressing, we were told by the Olympic Rep we could move on the Friday but when Friday came around we were told that the owner was not going to pay for another room to be cleaned! If you did not put back your lounger they (the owners) would fine you. If you imagine a large back garden with a Marquee and a pool, then that is the Athina. No I'm afraid it is not 3 star as Olympic states, when I challenged this I was told by the Rep that, this is ...

From reading the few reviews about the Athina Classic Apartments in Crete, we were a bit concerned about what we would find. However, our room was clean (although basic - but we hadn't paid for 5*). There were no bugs or mice! The pool area was clean and pleasant to relax in, and shade and sunbeds were available. By the pool is a small bar which also serves food. The food tended to be chips or a fry up, so do not expect to just live on the food served here. The apartments were situated on the ma ...

Arrived at Athina Apartments early hours Saturday morning, our rep showed us our apartment which was on the ground floor which was meant to be a studio with the key already in the door and left us to get on with it. When we walked into our studio we thought that we had entered a small cave, one wall was painted white and the other walls were just brick. The studio was so small we had to keep the door open all the time, we had one very small window which you could not see out of unless you opened ...
