I tend to read holiday reviews prior to booking but needless to say prior to us booking this holiday I didn't. All looks OK with Ananais Apartments from the outside but the apartment which we was given was dark and dismal. The fitments in the apartment was very worn and certainly in need of updating. Standards very not very good. Bathroom had mould and towels were only changed once a week. Kitchen equipment was non-descriptive. This holiday was made expensive as there was nothing or nowhere to prep any food, we ended up eating out for every meal, OK as there was only 2 of us but for a family very very expensive. I know that the accomodation in Greece and the Islands is fairly basic but this is supposed to be a 3 star so was expecting a lot more. I seriously think this needs re-visiting as I would not rate this 1 star, given the places we have stayed in previously and their ratings.

2 buildings in the grounds. 1 studio block and 1 apartment block. Some TLC needed in both instances. Don't know if owner is taking in washing as towels, sheets, pillow cases etc always hanging on washing lines around the pool area, not a pretty site for people on holiday. Just wished our towels were washed and changed more regularly (once a week is certainly not sufficient). Air conditioning which is paid for locally not always working. Rooms grubby and needing redecoration and new fitments. I know that Greece can be basic having holidayed on the Islands many times but Ananais Apartments certainly is the worst place we have stayed. A 3 star rated this is NOT. I adore all animals but the cats and kittens roaming around the grounds. Certainly not very inviting as a recommendation for somewhere to eat.

There are 2 blocks housed in the grounds. Front block being the reception area along with the apartments and the back block being studios. I know Greece is simple but having been graded 3 star by Thomas Cook I expected a little more. We stayed in the studio block whereupon we were given a room which needed to be given a good overall. Facilities to do anything other than sleep in the room were very limited. I know you don't go on holiday to spend the time in your accommodation, but you need facilities and furniture to be able to get ready and house your clothes & luggage. The small balcony overlooked rooftops which was so close, so not even a nice place to sit.
I suspect the owners think that as Greece is considered a little behind the times that holidaymakers are willing put up with sub-standard accommodation. We certainly expected more having gone on brochure description and the hard earned euro's we paid for the holiday.

We were recommended by a Travel Agent in Scotland while visiting there from New Zealand. It was a spur of the moment decision to go to Corfu at the beginning of the holiday season in May 2006. She said she would send us somewhere that was quieter and that it was run by the family themselves. We were so impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of everyone, we just kicked back and had a really relaxing break for seven days during our hectic 6 week break in the UK. We would love to return to the Ananais Apartments sometime in the future and have certainly recommended to friends and family planning to visit Corfu. If its a relaxing holiday you are after it is certainly the place to go, and we would recommend going at the beginning of the season before it gets too busy. The family and staff that run the apartments were so friendly and helpful and helped make our stay really enjoyable.

We arrived without reservation and they managed to fit us in. Great staff. We are going back this year to stay a few days.

This accomodation the Ananais apartments can and will cater for everyone. Nothing is too much for the staff even take you to Corfu Town shopping if you want. Don't understand why people moan about this as we have had our best holidays here for the past 7 years and will gladly continue to do so ....Trust me the Ananias Rocks.

If you are thinking of booking these apartments I suggest you re-think your choice. They need total refurbishment and should be closed until all this work has been completed.
