I've been using these Altec Lansing 2100 speakers for more than 7 years. They are truly amazing and a 'classic' piece from Altec Lansing. With real 'thump' bass (not like the 'boom' bass produced by the cheap creatives) and astonishing clear highs and good mids from the 1" neodymium drivers - they are my perfect companion for listening rock, pop, electronica, games and classical music.
During these 7 years I've changed the fuse a couple of times and even replaced the power transformer (lightning attack) once. Still the circuit worked rock solid and performs as better as ever. Would buy this piece again, if Altec produces it. Two thumbs up!
If you are still wondering whether this 2100 deserves all the positive reviews mentioned here, ask a 2100 owner if he/she wishes to sell it. You wont get a positive answer. ;-)

Well four years after buying these truly impressive speakers, I still am amazed at just how good they are. Warm, clear, crisp and with all the performance you could ask of a 2.1 system plus after hundreds of hours of enthusiastic use they remain as perfect as the day I first plugged them in. I'm thinking to upgrade to a 5.1 system to go with a new PC and Office set up... only Altec Lansing will do.

For a low end speaker system with a subwoofer, this set fits the bill. I have even used it on a small Sharp LCD television to boost the sound and the highs and lows are close to surround sound quality!
The speakers have a small footprint, so are perfect for a desktop application. If you are an audiophile, then listen to your Bang and Olufsen system. These speakers work great if you just want enhanced sound from a laptop or desktop computer.

Overall impression is OK, they are very powerful for home use, strong and loud, very good bass.

When set up well, these tiny Altec Lansing 2100 speakers perform pretty well, imaging nicely and giving a good stereo spread; the dynamics are not at all bad. From such small drivers (2x2") I'm quite impressed. Clarity is good, and the mid-range is pretty impressive; turn the sub down to minimum and there is an fair amount of mid-tones. Turn the sub back up and the whole frequency fills in pretty well, although the bass can be kinda variable. It's not the 'one-note bass' that so many subs deliver, but it does vary according to frequency, but overall the sub does a good job; just don't turn it up too high... again that set-up problem. Get it right and this system can deliver a great performance, add in the fact that they are not too expensive, and you get a package that I think is excellent value for money.
