    Good Points: Everything

Bad Points: Reading the bad reviews before we flew out.

General comments: I really enjoyed my holiday at Mitsis Summer Palace. Ignore all the bad reviews, I read them before we left and I can tell you I saw nothing of the sort of goings-on they claim. The staff were generally very helpful, the food was wonderful, the weather - gorgeous, the rooms were nice all in all I recommend this holiday to everyone.

I loved this holiday and have wanted to return since we arrived home. I enjoyed all aspects of the holiday and the minor downside is the shingle beach.

Very bad reception staff, day or night. No beds on the beach unless you're German. Nowhere to sit at night. Mind numbing "show" miles from anywhere. Other than that, the Summer Palace Hotel in Kardamena was pretty bad in every area!!

I think people who complain are generally people who will always complain. I don't now anywhere in the UK I can go with a 4hour flight, all my food, drinks endless sunshine and a clean room for the price you pay for a holiday here. A cheap hotel in Blackpool would end up costing me more.

We arrived at the Summer Palace Hotel in Kardamena at about 1:30am, and we were greeted by a very unhelpful reception clerk. During check-in any questions I asked were replied to with one word answers. At the end of being checked in I asked if there was anywhere around where we could still get a drink. The guy looked at me like I'd just asked him if I could sleep with his wife, and he barked that everywhere was closed!

We were then told a porter would take our bags to our room, and out of our ...

I think Summer Palace is wonderful, me and my partner Deano love it we go there nearly every year! Deano and I love the staff they make us feel so welcome and its really nice when we go back to there room. I would really recommend this hotel, the great thing is there is hardly any Germans! The great thing is where we get on with them so well they don't mind Deano sunbathing naked!

We have stayed at Serita Beach another of the Mitsis hotels in Crete which was 4 star, it should be 5 and Summer Palace 3, not to be recommended unless they make some changes which would really only be small changes but would make such a difference.

I can't believe some of the bad press the Summer Palace Hotel has had. My partner and I had a fantastic time, the hotel was very clean, there was plenty of food and drinks, the staff were polite and sociable (all it took was a smile and a hello believe it or not). The beach was brilliant and yes I was one of those awful people who got up early and put my towel on the sunbed. The sunrise at that time was priceless and once mission was completed I went back to bed, none the worse, even if I did ...

Have just come back from a fortnights holiday at the Summer Palace and after reading some really bad reviews I can quite honestly say that we had a great time. The kids enjoyed it; there is a choice of swimming pools and our rooms which were at the back of the hotel looked straight onto a beautiful clean and fresh water pool. The food was plentiful and tasty, the kids who are 5 and 7 both found things they liked. A new manager started the 2nd week and he was really trying to make things good. If ...

Went with our two boys aged eight and three to Summer Palace Hotel in Kardamena.
We went snorkelling in the sea and it was lovely to see all the fish under the water, the sea was very clear and the boys loved it.
Shingle beach was uncomfortable on the feet
Not a five star hotel. More like a 3 star all inclusive. Good entertainment for the kids and the kids club was good - our kids aged 3 and 8 made friends there and played with the new friends during the evening entertainment. Food not th ...

Just returned (Thank God) from 1 week at Summer Palace. We have stayed at many 4 & 5 star hotels around the globe and this just doesn't deserve anything above a 3 and that's being kind.
The room we had allocated at 12.30 am was right over the reception area, coaches pulling in three times a night and the receptionist assured us it would only happen for the one night diesel fumes came into the room and the reception couldn't give a dam.
This happened every night until 4.00am
We ate in the rest ...

Wae arrived at Summer Palace Hotel at 11pm, There was no porterage, I had a broken finger due to football accident. We got Poor directions to room; It's like a maze in 3D. It took 40 mins to get to room. The room had excrement in it, it was smelly and full of flies, and it Overlooked communal toilets outside. There was no bed for a child as per booking and invoice. I went back to the receptionist.......another assault on Mount Everest........overworked with other arrivals....I waited 15 mins ...

Summer Palace is a very well designed place, granted you are on the side of a mountain so there are lots of steps and hills to climb, if you have trouble walking or are disabled then this is not the place for you. Each arpartment is spacious and clean with air con, you have a small fridge, hairdryer and there is nobody staying below or above you so noise is not a problem. The only problem I found with the rooms are that the electricity comes on when you place you room key fob into a magnetic soc ...
