Good Points: Looks great; brilliant blacks; big but strangely un-obtrusive.
Bad Points: Odd wicker basket effect at vertical-middle left and right edges of screen; auto picture format is permanently on, even when you switch it off.
General comments: I got this Philips 32PW9595 32 Widescreen TV from Panther online for £699 6 months ago and was well chuffed with that deal. Don't know why they had them so cheap but I wasn't complaining. I wanted a big CRT after being heartily disappointed with all the plasmas I looked at, but I hated the fact they were all big silver monstrosities - but this is a peach.
Best aspect apart from the aesthetics, is the truly wonderful contrast ratio - blacks are blacker than black, and whites are blinding.
Irritations are the auto picture format (keeps switching to widescreen chopped formats whenever it detects even a slightly wide image) and the strange wicker hatching effect at the edges of the screen if you zoom in at all.
Apart from that, excellent - I wouldn't pay top whack for it though.
