Good Points: Fantastic Processor and capable to a 2gb memory upgrade. Has a very good cooling system and a stable set up. Nice design and value for money. Power pack has a strong rectangular jack point so wont risk mother board damage to solder of the jack pin, unlike others.
Bad Points: Cooling fins clogg very easy
General comments: Had this for 5 years, it has never failed even when I spilled beer over the keyboard! Processor is rapid and is more than capable. Will run good basic games , but the only real down side for me is the graphics card it just standard but thats to be expected. Came with a 30gb hard drive which is still as quiet as the day i had it. I have had this on EVERY day for many hours so in total over 5 years I'm still on the same power pack. Battery as expected died of about 2 years ago thats because I kept it on charge in the laptop. 4 USB ports and a DVD cd Rom. I actually bought another last year expecting mine to soon end its life... BUT sold it as its just keeps going!
Comes with a great set of recovery disks and, basic bios set up. I recomend this laptop is simply simple but very easily upgradeable to max of 2gb memory. It will also over clock but avoid that. One advice point to keep it lasting... KEEP IT COOL. in the power pack, and clean the cooling fins of lint every 6 months and it will last... Try it for your self you wont be disappointed.

I wouldn't ever buy one a Toshiba Satellite Pro A40 laptop myself, and we soon had to buy replacements for our company as they were not up to standard. If you want a laptop just for the kids homework or for surfing the net then it's fine. If you want a laptop for anything more then you should pay more money.

If you need a good, high-quality laptop for simpler tasks, choose the Toshiba Satellite Pro A40. I have had mine for almost a year, and it has never let me down. In other words, good quality for little money.

My Toshiba satellite Pro has been everything I hoped it would be. I didn't want a top of the range lap top, just something I could use to write word documents, surf the internet and play CDs. Mine has got 40GB of Hard Drive as well so I can download until my heart is content. While you will find many more powerful and slimmer and more stylish laptops out there, the Pro A40 never claims to do this, and hence why it is so much cheaper. You want a cheap laptop, get one of these babies!
