I use the Chorley David Lloyd gym. Large array of equipment compared with other gyms in the area, swimming pool mostly has lanes free (obviously avoid peak times!)
Tending to look a bit shabby, restaurant needs gutting and renewing. The many classes advertised rarely actually happen and are generally expensive.

Next Generation Club. Wooburn Green. High Wycombe.
I had a summer membership but unfortunately received a injury to my wrist whilst at the Gym (actually cracked my wrist bone). i was then allowed to suspend my membership until my wrist was better.I was given a slip and told to just contact the retention manager when i was ready. Now im ready to resume they dont want to let me use the gym. they are also refusing to refund my money. The general manager took more than 3 weeks to contact me, and j ...- Read Raj35's review (186 words)

If you sign a contract with a 3 months cancellation requirement dont be surprised when they actually hold you to it, seems to be lots of moaning on here about issues that where obvious when people signed up.
I like the envirnoment and as with any gym you always get some moaners who jopin then dont like it because they actually have to do something and leave moaning about allsorts, its a good gym if you want to stay fit in good surroundings join, if you are a moaner dont ....easy!!!- Read Guest's review (136 words)

When first opened, excellent but quickly fall into disrepair with poor maintenance. Hit and miss food but mostly miss. Good for kids and tennis but that is only thing to keep us there. Don't bother with Celsius - even if 2 adults have Celsius membership, you only get one free admission per month for friends. Management/owners fail the mainly excellent staff.- Read dprinsep's review (87 words)

When i first joined Next Gen In Chorley it didn't show many problems but as time has gone by its got worse. Classes are cancelled for children so if you are parents there goes your gym time.- Read JasonBennett's review (84 words)

I joined Next Generation in July 2006. My wife had come along with me as she intended to join as well along with my son but only after two months as she was going abroad. The rep convinced us that it would be good for all of us to join immediately and promised me that I could suspend the membership for my wife and son for the 2 months. A week later when I asked them to suspend the membership for the two of them, they refused saying that the contract said that I could do that only after one year. ...- Read Deereview's review (254 words)

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM!! heres why I am a member of the cambridge gym, its over ran by brats (must be down to the family friendly policy) The lanes are almost always taken up by swimming lessons, the staff are useless in my opinion. I also signed up for 7 months initial term, after which you have to give 3 months notice, which is pretty poor contract anyway. However despite signing up to this agreement they tell me that my contract stated 12 months. Which obviously I hadn't, now I am stuck going t ...- Read Guest's review (103 words and 1 comment)

I use the NG in York and I can't understand where all this criticism has come from. There are loads of machines and activities, and you can just walk up and book a tennis court for use in a couple of hours' time, and everything is well-maintained. I can't really think of any way it could be improved...- Read Guest's review (70 words)

I gave notice to terminate my membership in January 2008 year by personally visiting the club in Chorley and they are still writing to me stating that I am in arrears despite me ringing and confimring my cancellation . Aside from the annoyance and irritiation at their poor administration I feel the practice of insisting on 3 months notice is an appaliing business practice- Read Gillbard's review (61 words)

I have been a member of the "Dartford/Darenth" branch for 4 years. It's closer to home these days than the gym I used to go to, which was much nicer, larger, friendly staff & members, MUCH cheaper & better all round.
NONE of the trainers speak to you. I have had one smile at me in all this time - but to ask how you're getting on training wise - no chance!. They won't tell anyone if they are using the equipment incorrectly.
No one stops little kids from using the machines or from sneaking un ...- Read husky's review (385 words)

I'm relieved to read that other people are disgusted with NG gyms. I left my local club almost a year ago and I'm still in a battle and being threatened with a debt collecting agency because I won't pay their 3 month cancellation fee. I think this appalling small print fee is outrageous, once you have decided to leave, you then have to stay for 3 more months? How stupid. I too found their facilities dirty, shabby and the pool was a disaster with all but 1 lane taken up with swimming lessons on s ...- Read Guest's review (93 words)

I was a member of David Lloyds for many years, when i moved to Dartford, the local Gym was Next Generation, it really is a grim looking gym, but because it is local i decided to join. Every time i visit, the dull lighting and decor doesn't inspire. Anyway, today i asked them to freeze my membership for a month as i was going on holiday for the whole month. They couldn't do it as i have to give 3 months notice, i opted for my 3 months termination notice instead. Even with that the receptionist sa ...- Read JohnD07's review (179 words)

Have always been very disappointed by continued failure to maintain simple items of gym and other equipment which leaves the club feeling tatty. Currently amazed that air con in main gym has totally broken down and that the maintenance company are saying earliest they can even inspect it is two weeks away, and may not be fixed until end of May. Surely a gym of this quality would have an expectation of better maintenance of essential equipment than this rather than just accept such a delay.- Read Guest's review (92 words)

I have been a member of the gym in Dartford since it opened. I actually left a very nice gym, because Next Generation was closer to me and practically on my door step.
The gym area itself is not that big and the machines are very crammed in. When something breaks it takes ages for it to be fixed. Things are never replaced, just patched up.
In the 5 years I have been going they have not once replaced any of the machines so its all looking very tatty and out of date. Which is also why things ...- Read Sarahuk69's review (277 words)

I was a member at York when Next Generation had just been built, got taken in by the loverly facilities and signed up. However, when I wanted to leave they said I had to pay 3 months to cancel it even though I was leaving uni, cost me an extra £120. Also, the place was not well maintained, showers didn't work, lockers were broken, tiles were loose. Would have taken very little time/effort to fix these things. I will never use another next generation club ever again.- Read dandan239's review (158 words)

Nice club (but not 5 star by any means) understand its a business but not impressed with all the extras. If the club is exclusive - dont give the courts to competitions at peak times at the expense of members!- Read Guest's review (196 words)

Having worked, trained and run sports clubs for 25 years...this is probably the worst maintained i have used,.... it i a real shame as its potential is huge... why this brand fail to engage its gymnasium members i dont know.... they are clearly heading for serious difficulties if they dont sort themselves out............ most of my friends have left because of the Hygiene, maintenance and customer service problems... and the poor staff are fighting a losing battle unless someone up the chain get ...- Read exeldama's review (156 words)

If there was a club near to where i live now then i would probably join. There fee's are quite high compared to your average gym, but its worth it for the fact that there is always top of the range equipment and there's usually more than enough to go around even at peak times. The outdoor swimming pool is lovely in the good weather and is in a really peaceful setting. I never got to try the Celsius spa as it always seemed to be closed for maintenance!!- Read c82k's review (179 words)
