“Tennis coach bully”

Written on: 16/07/2015 by Esther81 (1 review written)

I have been a member of David Lloyd Dartford for years and really enjoyed my time at the club using the gym, pool and playing tennis. All of the staff were so friendly and lovely to be around. Last year the tennis team had a change of management and new tennis coaches have joined the club. Since then I have had nothing but rudeness from one particular tennis coach. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder. He has sworn at me, pushed past me when walking past me, gives me dirty looks and talks… Read Full Review

“Just what I was after”

Written on: 10/07/2015 by AxelSnow (1 review written)

Joined DL Dudley and have to say getting a different experience from most of the reviews here. No hard sell and staff have been really friendly and nice. Had a p/t in the gym the other day go out of his way to ask how I was doing as a new member, and before you think no he was not selling and PT sessions. Equipment is good and the facilities are going through a refurb. Left my previous gym and they made no effort to try and keep me as a customer, so suppose depends on what you are looking for… Read Full Review

“Not up to scratch”

Written on: 03/07/2015 by krumble_uk (1 review written)

DL's Hull is beginning to look a bit shabby. The roof tiling looks grubby in places and again, looks dated. Also, it keeps times which are not quite right - it closes early on a weekend and doesn't open that early for workers. The gym area is poorly ventilated and the aircon is poor. Also, groups of lads can be found swearing in the changing areas and generally been quite aggressive in the pool areas too… Read Full Review

“David Lloyd brook lands ”

Written on: 27/06/2015 by Americas433 (1 review written)

Good gym and friendly staff, I have never had any problems whilst being a member here. I think the reviews that people give for the brook lands branch are quite harsh, gym is really good and clean and the staff up there are really helpful, I recently had a session with a personal trainer who was really helpful and patient with me and showed me how everything worked and what to do to achieve my goal. Lovely pool and spa sauna steam room and jacuzzi and really good cafe with good food and wide… Read Full Review

“Be fully aware of how David Lloyd operate before joining.”

Written on: 26/06/2015 by sbHale416 (1 review written)

Reading the reviews of David Lloyd indicate one overriding aspect of how this company operates. Whichever branch you intend to join it appears that they are all run in accordance with what I can only assume is a top down policy namely - promise much (whether it is true, not fully true or a downright lie) and get the customer's fee, then ignore any complaint whilst (and this is the insidious part) appearing to be a caring company. This latter ploy is achieved by having comment boards and "How… Read Full Review

“They will say anything to get members but then don't care”

Written on: 06/06/2015 by Hudson334 (1 review written)

When we joined Farnham club we were promised guest passes & free spa passes as they didn't have time to show us around. When we asked for them after joining we were told it was no longer possible! Also they told us it was 1 month cancellation period-turns out it's 3. They rarely follow up complaints (such as lack of equipment). Also they say they will check how you are doing to keep you motivated-never happened, even with 1 family member only using the gym twice. Class instructors are the only… Read Full Review

“Customer care very poor. ”

Written on: 19/05/2015 by Adair3 (1 review written)

I was a member for David lloyds Enfield for over 10years . Our business recently got probs and informed Them . I brought in letters but they did not accept them. All they wanted was the money . I thought after being a loyal customer for 10 years they could understand. I left the gym and l was made to pay for 5 months . My children grew up their and they miss their friends . The situation has changed for us thank God but l would never recommend any one to that gym . What they did to me and my… Read Full Review

“Chigwell David llyods ”

Written on: 07/05/2015 by JovaniBlake141 (1 review written)

STAY AWAY from the chigwell branch. Complete rip offs and they lie. Staff are all fake smiles etc and very unhelpful. I've been a member for two years and will not be renewing at the next renewal date. The gym cuts corners especially if you are a late night gym user. Fitness coaches strt packing the weights away at 10pm even though the gym has advertised as closing at 11pm. It's just a mess… Read Full Review

“Not at all welcoming ”

Written on: 13/04/2015

Me and a few of my friends had a visit to David Lloyd Exeter a few days back! From the outset the staff seemed like they just didn't want us to be there, and couldn't wait for us to leave. The facility's don't get much better! With an abundance of cardiovascular machines in the gym, on site spa facility's, on site physiotherapist, free wifi, Indoor and a heated outdoor swimming pool which was what mainly attracted me and my friends to try the place out . The outdoor pool definitley didn't… Read Full Review

“Categorically lied to by Sales about several things”

Written on: 10/04/2015 by jpr2x (1 review written)

Signed up stating well in advance a move to London and will be needing to change club part way through. I found the club nearest to my new place and told Reading BEFORE signing up, I was told it'd be fine, there would be no charge it happens all the time. Turns out I can't without paying a huge £92 a month which is insane! Now I can't cancel membership and I've lost £300 to a club I will NEVER trust and NEVER use again!… Read Full Review

What annoyed me about David Lloyd Bolton was that I was ready to join after a 14 day trial but they wouldn't` give me any discount whatsoever on an annual fee of over £700. So now I`'ve joined a budget gym for £150 a year and much better equipment.

“David Lloyd Cheadle - rude, unprofessional staff”

Written on: 03/04/2015 by MichaelaCochran (1 review written)

DL Cheadle markets itself as an upmarket health club. The recent refurbishment has given the club a much needed facelift, however DL fails to address the issue of poor customer service. You don't need to look far at DL Cheadle before friends, acquaintances give examples of rudeness from staff, inappropriate behaviour and laziness. My worst experience at the club was whilst having a PT session, the PT (who had more brawn than brains) started pointing out a customer in the gym and started… Read Full Review

Completely agree

Gym is great, however staff must remember that it is the members that pay their salary at the end of the month!

“Unscrupulous, mean and unhelpful”

Written on: 26/03/2015 by Caversham (1 review written)

The David Lloyd in Reading has good facilities and friendly front of house staff. The club is in need of refurbishment, the showers are dirty/grubby and the wall and the ceilings are not what you would expect from a private health club. Do not rely on the club to provide towels, when towels are available they charge £1 per thread bare towel which most people would have long since used as rags. However the real issue we had with David Lloyd is their treatment of people trying to cancel… Read Full Review

“High price low quality ”

Written on: 10/03/2015 by nkRossiItalian376 (1 review written)

I would aspect more from a David Lloyds Club: downstairs the restaurant is really dark and dull I feel I'm in a 50 years old social club....the gym upstairs is not better either. Equipments are outdated, the free weights and the stretching area is really dirty, during the half term kids were on the gym floor didn't look more than 13 years old. This place needs proper management and a huge investment. Really shocking experience!… Read Full Review

“Membership”

Written on: 06/03/2015 by OdinKlein482 (1 review written)

Was invited to a free trial joining period for 2 months. Was told that I could opt out of this offer. The first day I was taken on a tour around the centre I was made to pay £32 but reassured I could opt out. I later told them that I did not wish to become a member as I would not be able to use their facilities enough for the monthly fees they charge. Since then they have done nothing but send me threatening letters to court and demanding £308 even though the last day I stepped in their… Read Full Review

“Dreadful gym!”

Written on: 31/01/2015 by MichelleDenney (2 reviews written)

I have been a member of various gyms from local leisure centres to chains (Total Fitness in the North West and Fitness4Less in London). I decided on moving back to Surrey that I would treat myself to a membership at David Lloyd rather than taking a cheaper membership elsewhere. What a disappointment! The timetable for classes in the evenings/ weekends is poor and the quality of instructors shocking. There are a couple of good instructors but these classes get busy making it hard to get a place… Read Full Review

Been over charged every month since I joined and although the club admits that, I have not received my money from them. This has been going on for 3 months.
