Do not join if you are like the majority, go for a while and don't have the time to attend . Make sure when finishing your membership you get prove of posting or delivery. Bad management in my opinion. I think there is a lack of communication and not much interest in the individual. The club does have good facilities but there are there bad points that stand out.

After two months of joining the club at Milton Keynes and the club going through a lengthy building process the service got worse. I wrote to the club stating that I wished to cancel my memebership. I was contacted by the club by letter also by telephone saying that I was to pay for the three months. I objected to this and stated in my letter that they had not produced the service as stated when first joining the club of excellent service etc this was not the case, they require me to pay £ ...

They are money mad - I was disappointed with the club, and after 3 years decided to resign when my complaint was ignored yet again. Their only concern was chasing to court to ensure I paid an additional 3 months money.

Since their lowest point in time last December, my club's rating has improved from 2 to 6 out of 10. They must be successfully addressing some of the issues. Does anyone know if the management of the David Lloyd organisation read these comments ? It would be encouraging to know that they are aware of member's views.

David Lloyd are really unhelpful in my opinion. I pay £129 per month for two adults & a child i broke up with my partner & they wont let me change the name on my membership. I am not asking to cancel - just asking to change a name & add my disabled mother to the membership! Has anyone any advice because my ex is getting a free membership out of me! HELP

My family (grown up children 20 and 23 yrs) have been members of Port Solent for 6 years. We have in the last year seen an marked drop in standards, ethics, with rusty gym equipment. It used to be a great gym with friendly staff, somewhere that was pleasant to work out and socialise. Now there is a big element of rude staff, shoddy service, even the people who have been there years are harassed and under pressure. I planned my whole weekend around the schedule that I would go for a swim in the outdoor pool early Saturday afternoon to find it out of public use for a gala once I arrived. There had been no 'obvious' signs to say this during the previous weeks/days. I was told a notice on board told people how to apply but I hadn't realised I was expected to read about a gala I had no interest in as know it would affect me!

Overall for what it costs each month u see nothing back for your money,
there was a fight in the gym and it was broken but after it had finished and nothing happened about it...

David LLoyd Kensington; I've been a member for over a year, there is usually something wrong and, apparently, never the fault of management. Lifts seem to be breaking down a lot, computers often out of service, showers often only running cold and, the most recent on going problem - a shortage of towels so, if you are here at 6.30 am, you are restricted to 1, but if you arrive at 8am there are none!! I have been a DL liverpool speke member for apprx 1 1/2yrs and im getting annoyed. i pay top whack! yet feel standards are slipping. time to look elsewhere i think for a gym that has high standards. bad point are
1. Toilets areas not cleaned and disinfected
2. Steam areas smells like a not flushed 10wk old toilet
3. Equipment takes weeks to be fixed
4. Equipment missing hence cant use or exercise properly
5. Personal items i.e keys wallet cars stolen security of lockers is pathetic

It appears that we are not alone when delivering letters by hand to the reception cancelling our membership which then go missing, copies of the letter were then provided only to be accused that it could have been back dated. The communication was non existent, we contacted DL at Nursling, Southampton by e.mail, telephone and received no response, we e.mailed DL at Birmingham management - no response, we e.mailed and sent a registered letter to the Head Office at Hatfield - no response, contact ...

I am a member of the liverpool david lloyd and find it to be pretty good. Its big enough so as not to ever seem full and there are always cardio machine available. Staff are friendly and always greet you.

I belong to the Epsom (Surrey) club and they have over 100 classes per week - the membership team are great and always helpful and if you read the contract it clearly states cancellation procedures! I really don't know why everyones so negative. Best clubs around. Lovely staff and runs smoothly - great for kids and family.

Bad customer service. Staff is not bothered to give you a good service and is very uninformed of daily simple queries.Very poor cleaning standards particularly in the shower area and in the changing rooms. Class's timetable is boring and outdated. Deficient on aerobics classes, times are a real pain having most then at 5ish or very late in the evening.Facilities are standard not impressive for the price.Not really good value for money. I believe the standard of individual clubs is down to the quality of the general manager and the management team. The club at Southend has noticably improved over recent weeks, particularly with staff attitude, since the appointment of a new GM - well done !
