“Inexperienced Staff - Poor Customer Service”

Written on: 31/07/2014 by Smith64 (1 review written)

My family have been members at David Lloyd Gidea Park since it first opened as Next Generation. To say the service has deteriorated is an understatement, although at £180 per month for a family (excluding tennis) the prices are constantly increasing . Key Areas: . Studio Air-com is temperamental and the the instructors having to take classes with inadequate sound facilities . Lost property - very lucky to have items handed in . Comment cards - no one gets back to you . Parking a… Read Full Review

“Poor Customer Service”

Written on: 23/07/2014 by themav81 (1 review written)

The weights area at David Lloyd Gidea Park is unbearable in this heat. The air conditioning only works (just about) in the cardio area but doesn't make it's way round to the Weights area. I have raised this as an issue but it is not being taken seriously by the manager because not enough people have complained. It seems with Gidea Park David Lloyd that unless you take your family there to eat expensive meals and play tennis then you don't have a voice. Lets turn the air conditioning off in the… Read Full Review

“Outdated, unhygienic and careless”

Written on: 22/07/2014 by mikey24587 (1 review written)

Been a member for a year at stevenage. It's a continuous battle to get some basics taken care of. Each month some facility breaks down and every time it takes a couple of months to fix while members are not compensated . It took 6 months of complaining to get cold water available in the health suite. But they then only provided jugs of water and plastic cups. Each time the jugs run out it can be upto an hour before staff bother to refill them, and that's after you a Alert them . The plastic… Read Full Review

“Painful to deal with...Money Grabbing ”

Written on: 08/07/2014 by Kolej300 (1 review written)

The gym services provided by David Lloyd are decent, but the way they deal with customer is horrendous. It is definitely over priced, but I bought 12 months up front as a motivation to attend. It worked, and I made the most of the membership, but knew full well I wouldn't renew. However, the terms and conditions are horrendous, and the sales guys when you take out the membership can be misleading. For me, they were very misleading and implied a 12 month membership was a one off payment. After… Read Full Review

“Dirty and sloppy management”

Written on: 27/06/2014 by tomandtiffy (2 reviews written)

Ive used this place for a year, only because of the location. The gym is grubby, the changing rooms and showers especially bad. The worst thing was a month or so ago, when there was a fire alarm on saturday morning. The staff were a shambles, and talking to an instructor after, he said he had been there well over a year and they had never had a fire drill, and none of them knew what to do! I seriously thought about reporting them to the authorities for this. If you want cheap and aren't too… Read Full Review

“Expensive grumpy broken”

Written on: 17/06/2014

David Lloyd- good honest patrons experience - Don't bother wasting your money. £1600+ a year for family. Torn carpets, scolding, broken family showers, smells of mild. Grumpy staff. Way too expensive for what you get. If you even have the money, don't bother. This isn't luxury, or even premium. They have a complaints bad next to the counter so nothing gets out on the net but if you go near it you get snarled at! :(.… I've canceled my membership… Read Full Review

“David Lloyd Worthing”

Written on: 11/06/2014 by CharlotteBolton (1 review written)

I am a member at David Lloyd in Worthing, West Sussex. It costs approx £850 a year membership. It is a relatively new building. I use the gym three or four times a week. I think the price is much too expensive for what they offer. I doubt I will be renewing my membership. I think David Lloyd lacks moral courage by trying to lock people into contracts with three month notice periods and a raft of silly petty minded exclusions and trip up clauses to extend the notice period even more. Do… Read Full Review

if you're not renewing, make sure you let them know in plenty of time to cancel, otherwise they'll charge you minimum of 3 months to get oit of the contract.

“Worst Company ”

Written on: 08/06/2014 by Sullivan141 (1 review written)

Joining David Lloyd is one of the worst decisions of my life. I spent nearly 2000 pound and service what i got is horrible. Customer service is poor, Only efficient staff they have works in payment and sales department, in the rest of the department they don’t have either staff or short staff. Regional director Russell also takes his own sweet time to reply on complain. I strongly recommend not to use this club .. it is big no no..... they force you to do something which is you are not… Read Full Review

“Never again”

Written on: 04/06/2014 by Nothingnow (1 review written)

Arrogant staff , uninformed, do not care. I have wasted nearly one thousand pounds on a rubbish organising. The pools are not clean, and during school holidays children and babies are in the pool throughout the day. The out door pool is difficult to get out as it is totally vertical and you have to really pull yourself out and after a certain age this is not easy. This is not a club to join if you are over 25… Read Full Review

“Poor treatment of members”

Written on: 31/05/2014 by rhianloughin (1 review written)

My mother came down from Scunthorpe to Bristol for half-term and on Saturday 31st May at 9:30 a.m. we went to David Lloyd, Long Ashton, Bristol to watch my daughter play tennis. My mother was not permitted to enter as a 'social guest' because it was peak-time and there would be capacity issues in the Clubroom. We spoke to several staff members with the most senior member being a young man in his mid twenties. He spoke of a clause in the terms and conditions and of 4 newsletters that had been… Read Full Review

“Declining standards at David Lloyd gym”

Written on: 30/05/2014 by MicaelaPierce318 (1 review written)

I have been a member for 13 years and stay for the regular classes and friends made. Issues have increased over the years : Cleaning showers when busy classes are finishing Over hot changing facilities with no air-con Above inflation rises each year when most people are on pay freezes Unpopular over-priced and minute portions allegedly healthy food Endless open days and weekends for people with no respect for the club and members, guaranteeing packed facilities Summer only memberships so every… Read Full Review

“Basildon facilities are good but badminton is not”

Written on: 28/05/2014 by sallyfields2014 (3 reviews written)

The badminton facilities as Basildon are ok however couple of little issues. Firstly the people who use the courts to play soft racket ball go all over the courts and disrupt play, they also leave the nets down at the wrong height. The second thing is that the lights should have some type of covers on them as when aiming for the shuttlecock it glares in your eyes and you cant see where the shuttlecock is. Other than that the other facilities are good, gym equipment is a bit dated but changing… Read Full Review

“Extremely Poor Badminton Facilities”

Written on: 28/05/2014 by MakenaTaylor-Alt1980 (1 review written)

David Lloyds describes itself as a raquet members club which has 1000+ badminton courts across the UK. However if you have ever played at the finchley club you will know the facilities are terrible. - The floor is Carpet - bad for your knees to play on - There is a lack of lighting - There are tennis court lines across the court causing confusion Badminton players at the finchley club are treated like second class citizens in comparison to the tennis players. I would strongly recommend… Read Full Review

“Inflexible Organisation”

Written on: 14/05/2014 by Lawrence88 (1 review written)

Many of my local members are very upset about a change in booking policy for tennis courts. A new inflexible system has been imposed without consultation making it much more awkward to book courts. It also means those who can't say definitely who will partner them 8 days hence can't book a court, previously it was possible to book a court and sort out possible opponents in the coming week. Furthermore those who wish to use a court for practising serving or take a ball feeder machine can no… Read Full Review

Astaniland's Comment

I am a member of the Bromsgrove David Lloyd. Totally agree that this policy is inflexible and does not serve loyal members well. Also found out today that you will receive a strike for not using a booked court even if it is pouring with rain. Poor weather no shows "Too difficult to manage" apparently.
Absolutely ridiculous.

“Should you work or spend money here?”

Written on: 02/05/2014 by Addison1979 (1 review written)

Should you work here? Only if you just want a horrifc job that messes you about and allows you to use their lackluster facilities. Everyone who works agrees at how terrible it is. Everything is over priced, hours change constantly, they never follow through on contracts and have placed many in debt by messing with their hours and being full of excuses. Should you go there? Well with staff treated so badly could you expect them to be that friendly? The steam room and sauna are never cleaned so… Read Full Review

“DL reading are totally unfair!”

Written on: 27/04/2014 by Aldox294 (1 review written)

My friend & I started a 14 day trial in Reading, Berkshire from Thursday 17th April 2014 to 30th April 2014. We both joined to try out the pool & other wet facilities. On out first day of membership after we had paid, we found out that the club had a free entry for the public all bank holiday weekend (18th to 21st April). We were not told this & I had to call to ask why as we would not have joined for the full 14 days & paid. Then to add to our misery the steam room was out of commission due… Read Full Review
