Good Points: Early morning swim & sauna.no kids around!!

Bad Points: Staff should be more honest about contracts. Esporta should decide whether or not they are an adults club or a kid-friendly family club.

General comments: I have been an Esporta member for a long time and yes it has been wearisome...........if there was another club locally [especially one without hoards of kids] I would move tomorrow. Every few months something happens that makes me sooooooo annoyed. The latest is the about-turn on Platinum Members - this has been something worth having with a few perks that were worth having. However the plan is to get rid of Platinum Membership altogether and replace it with £5 vouchers if you visit the club 2 or 3 times per week.

Esporta Health Clubs seem more interested in putting up shopping stalls in the bistro area than replacing any (and constantly) broken equipment. The spa, sauna and steam room are out of action more than they are working, a new 'facelift' meant the closure of a major part of the gym area for 8 weeks, and it was impossible to work out in the other areas due to the amount of dust flying around. If you still want to join, watch out for the 3 month membership resignation clause.

I did not like the way i was treated at Esporta Health Clubs, I felt like a total stranger at the gym. The club is only concerned about signing up new people for money and nothing else. They know their contract and will not mention the hot spots of it to any one considering joining up

World Class Gym or World Class Chaos? Family friendly Esporta has turned into a Disneyland without the fun! Screaming kids everywhere and an unacceptable turn around of staff. Badly run gym because keeping the profits high is the Manager's main goal - not keeping the members happy.Save your money and buy 2 memberships in a healthier, calmer more relaxing atmosphere for the same price.

Esporta did not spell out clearly, when I joined, three things 1. that off peak excluded all weekends, 2. that to join this sporting club I was signing a 12 month almost loan contract or 3. that resignation required a 3 month payment/ notice. This was in the paperwork but I think should have been more clearly explained.

I have been with Esporta for 6 months but am moving out of the area so have handed in my notice. I was expecting the usual ridiculous 3 months notice but instead apparently you are tied in for the first year so I will have to contine to pay for another 5 months (over 350 pounds). I'm moving into a new flat so will be short of money as it is. AVOID Esporta. Fitness First are cheaper and cleaner just without the illusion they are a luxury health club.

Agree with others here. Moneygrabbers. Esporta Health Clubs hard sell until they have your money, then casual disinformation on cancellation rights and indifference to protests. This is when the manager stops getting back to you. You effectively sign a 15 month contract not a 12 month contract. Regular price hikes to maximise the income from their membership base once they have your signed direct debit in their greedy hands. Look at the websites. Published rates are banned! What can this ...

I was a member of Esporta Gym and had a terrible time when I had to cancel my membership. However, I did manage to resolve it in the end. I had been a member for 12 months when I found out I pregnant. I was very ill and had to be admitted to hospital twice during the first few months. At the same time I found out that my mother had breast cancer that had spread to the lymph nodes and my father-in -law was termianlly ill with cancer. As you can imagine keeping up a gym membership was just no ...

They increased our DD to the amount they wanted to with no notification. This is not within the terms and conditions but hey Esporta Health Clubs can do what they want !! Esporta - Berkshire. What a shame it used to be such a good health club. All that happens now is the standards are dropping and the membership going up. There also seems to be a regular change in Manager.

Generally a good service although at any one point in time there always seems to be several things broken (pool heating, boilers, jacuzzi, saunas...).The gym is kept to a relatively high standard and they offer plenty of classes. I would be more impressed if they weren't such money grabbers.

I agree fully with the comments about Esporta Dorset - the staff are pleasant and helpful and the general atmosphere very welcoming. I know there have been financial issues over the years which resulted in less than perfect gym equipment, but the new management seem to be on to this and most things now work well. The usp is the swimming area - great outdoor pool (always open, even in winter) and indoor pool of a good length and rarely crowded. The Tranquillity (their spelling!) Spa area is equal ...

I originally joined Esporta Swiss Cottage as my partner was already a member (she joined when it originally opened). The monthly cost was considerably more than other gyms in the area, but unlike the others, Esporta was less than five minutes walk away. At the time, around 2005, the facilities were on a par with the privately run but council owned gym that I used to attend before moving to London, with the notable exception of the swimming pool which is much smaller.I was prepared to pay the ext ...

Extremely poor customer experience. The contrast between the first approach -when they want your membership- and the days after is unbelievable. The employees are indifferent, and very often not very well trained for the task. You can ask some help, but the advice is really of very little help and poor quality. Esporta Health Clubs willingness to create a good environment is not clear. And the sooner they can close, the better. So 45 min before closing you will be jumping around vacuum cleaners ...

had a tour of my local NORWICH esporta looked very nice, was told about all the classes and the salesperson did a good job walking and talking me round , then can the hard sell, no written down brouchure given just an number written on a piece of paper, which i gathered she had calulated whilst asking me loads of personal questions as we walked round , and clearly this number changes from person to person. The thing is i have friends that use the club and i know they all pay different rates for ...

My wife and I were members of Esporta (Denton) and were happy with the facilities. We left because of the 3 months notice period clause, because we felt this was unfair. Yes I signed the contract, but 12 months later I did not remember this clause until I enquired about the leaving process out of interest. I said I was prepared to stay on, if they changed the notice period to 1 month, but they refused. I dont know many people, who know what they are going to be doing in 3 months time in this fas ...

Esporta Health Clubs have nice pool and changing rooms. old and sometimes dated machines too close together. Very expensive equipment does not justify the cost.
