    Shocking gym. My wife and I were members of Esporta Islington for 2 years. We were granted visas to emmigrate abroad, so I gave Esporta over 2 months notice that we would be leaving, and hence that I'd like to resign the memberships. The head office told us that we'd have still have to pay membership for 1 month after leaving. So that's effectively 3 months notice! We were not told about these unusual T&Cs when we joined! We have left the country, and I've stopped the direct debit. A friend of mine left flyers around the gym, with a quote from the Office of Fairtrading website, stating that they find 3 months 'excessive'.Add to all that rude / totally incompetent staff,average facilities often not working, and general bad attitude for 140 quid per month. No thanks!

    I became a member at esporta cwmbran in november 2007.I signed up for 1 year even though I thoght it expensive. During the year machines in the gym were frequently out of action and I found it difficult to maintain a programme. 1 machine in particular was out of action for 2 months with a sign saying "waiting for parts" then it dissapeared completely.     Esporta expect a 3 month cancellation period regardless of whether you have completed your initial term of contract.
    My girlfriend and I had to stop going because she picked up an ear infection from their pool.
    I pointed out that thius was the key reason for joining the gym and as she could no longer use it we needed to cancel. They insisted on a 3 month cancellation period even though we believed one month was fair given the circumstances.

    esporta (clearview health and raquet club/warley). Dreadful place. Shoddy dirty and worn out. The staff in the beautician area nasty piece of work. I'm pretty pleased to say that at this rate with this kind of service they look to be going down taking some pretty rubbish staff with them. Not a child friendly enviroment as it cramps their style while they are to busy flirting around with members wives and husbands.     great i had work in year 10 and it was very amazing i enjoyed all the facilities that were offered to me your review must be checked by a memeber of staff which i really liked my review on the other hand i didn't like so of the routeine checks

    I have been a member of the Esporta gym in Peterborough for just over a year now and I have to say it is the best gym I've been to. I have been to 3 other gyms in the past and even though they are cheaper they don't have the equipment that Esporta does. I have never had a problem with them. I had my membership on hold and they didn't charge me for it. I missed two payments as the direct debit wasn't set up and they let me pay it at a later date.     I used to be a cannon's member but join esporta islington for the bigger swimming pool which I really enjoy the facilities there.

    I have recently stop work due to poor health including chest pain, and have been running series of medical test including a 24h heart trace with Royal Free Hospital. However, I decided to fly home to use the private care to find out what's wrong with me.

    Wow so i am not alone in the shocking way Esporta treat there members. I joined and then my situation changed and i requested for my membership to be placed on hold, or for it to be cancelled. Before i received a response i like many others received a letter from the debt agency ARC. I agree they use bullying tactics and i was told that it would seriously effect my credit rating!     Ive been with esporta now for a few months, it is the first gym i have ever joined and I do not think I will be joining another. I use the leeds (light branch, and all the machines are newish and clean, the weights section is really extensive, all the staff say hello and goodbye when you arrive, and there is always someone there to help you if you need it.
    Only thing is, the company could do with having a few relaxations on the rules of resigning, but having said that it is really competitively ...

    I am a Esporta member and recently joined signing the contract for cheaper membership fees for a 24 month period. What I was told and given were 2 contracts one with how to cancel which basically stated that if you move out of area within 9 months you could give three months notice as long as there wasnt another esporta in your new location. I did'nt intend to move out of area but a job opportunity came up within the nine month period with Esporta so I gave my three month notice. They never let ...

    I should have had a look at these comments before signing up with Esporta!! It is not only overpriced for old and average-quality facilities and equipment (which take weeks to be repaired usually) but their cancellation policy is unbelievably non flexible! I am not in such a difficult situation as some other users (who have lost a job or are going through surgery) but I'm moving to an area where there is no Esporta and I realised that my contract included this three CALENDAR month cancellation ...

    Friern Barnethave differnet rates of memebership have heard first hand someone paying £59 pound. Another £63 and I pay 86 pound. What a fool I am !! Out of there... Loads of other issues but would not recommend them to anyone. Clientele has recently been brought down from muscle bound smelly geezers. Machines are so old must be the first generation examples. Should be a museum rather then a gym.

    Ive just left the Devonshire after 7 years , ive bee treated appalingly by the staff over issues regarding other members and continuing building work which only affects the Men , although when i go it is full of overweight 50+ women with an attitude to do as they please and Verbal Diorea. I would say that if you do not work and want to swim duing the day its a waste of time unless you are a mum or dad or an overweight woman then its fine , anyonelse can forget it.     I have noticed a couple of 4 and 5 star ratings and believe these must be from the bosses of Esporta [employees wouldn't do this]. I cannot honestly believe anyone who has suffered being a member could give anything like this. It is very sad that after bad publicity on the TV and a continuing flow or complaints from customers that Esporta still does not listen to its members.

    Esporta is an absolute disgrace. Having been a member of the Hamilton club for years I am now at the point that I have cancelled my membership. The place is falling apart, machines that are as old as the hill, cleanliness, unhelpful staff especially admin and department managers. it seems all they want to do is charge people more and more and all we seem to get is less and less.

    I have been a member of Esporta in Lichfield and have had no problems whatsoever. Broken equipment is promptly fixed, staff and fellow gym members are friendly and the whole complex is clean. I managed to get my membership cheaper as my partner is a teacher, and so fall under the category of 'heroes and helpers', so we only pay &58 per month (inc. racquets) and no joining fee.     Esporta is a joke, if you try to change your payment day you get the contract shoved in your face, they help themselves to late payment fees and worst of all when i complained about the lack of staff, support and guidance they claim to posess i was offered free complimentary sessions when i'm a member!

    Esporta Health Club is a brilliant place to be since new management took over Dec 2008. Friendly, clean, great food and superb nights out. I have a family and would never leave the place.

    I am disgusted with esporta and want to know how they are still getting away with treating people this way! Me and my partner lost 3 jobs in 3 months from redundancy and i was not allowed to cancel my membership. After 4 months i still couldnt afford my membership as we had taken lower paid jobs and had debt from when we couldnt pay the bills. I wrote to them telling them i had cancelled my direct debit and would pay £10 a month untill i had paid it off. I heard nothing for 3 months then ...
