In my experience here this gym is disgusting. first of all when signing up if anyone at the gym including the manager tells you, that you are free to cancel your contract within the first month they are lying. the pool is freezing and small, there are a lot of machinery which is broken, some will cost pennies to fix but yet they just leave it broken at your inconvenience, the staff just seem to walk around socialising amongst themselves and are very unhelpful. when you sign up you also get a... LA fitness (Kettering) has always been a brilliant gym, the staff are familiar and friendly, personal trainers are helpful and know their stuff, cleaners often at work ensuring a high standard. If you want to get fit then this place is ideal. I had noticed a lot of unstaisfied reviews and I believe many unjustified. If in any doubt take a tour see how you feel and let's be honest you don't need to exercise in a palace to get fit. I mean look at rocky IV he exercised in a barn! And he still won. (read more)
“Bayswater shambolic gym”

This gym is the worst gym I have ever attended.The first time I used the changing room I was informed I needed my own lock for the locker- not very helpful to discover this 5 mins before my training session. It is impossible to get into a class as they are always full . The one class I attended(core strengthening) the teacher gave no instuction other than do this do that. While standards have dropped prices have gone up. Faulty equipment remains unrepaired for days. Noise levels clearly exceed health and safety guidelines when spinning classes are run. Persistent boiler problems during the cold spell. (read more)

LA Fitness never informed us when joining that we needed to give one complete calendar months notice to leave. We have been with the gym for over two years and it cost over £60 (nearly 2 months fees) to leave because we handed in notice just after a direct debit payment was sent. We were looking for a private pool for my son to learn to swim in and LA Fitness had a 'family' deal on of £40 per adult and £8 a month for a child to come along too. We took advantage of a 3 day free 'test' and went with our son to LA Fitness in Brighton. I joined a 12 months contract last year, it said on the contract if you want to terminate the contract after 12 months, you need to give them 1 calendar month notice, so I did that and then they said their interpretation of 1 calendar month is actually TWO MONTHS notice so now they keep hassling me to pay for an extra months fee! I joined on a 12 month basis mainly to use the pool after work, which was small and always full, which I understood as I did go at peak time. The staff were always friendly although more interested in flirting with each other than helping you use equipment. The gym itself is small, and the equipment is worn. “The worst customer service I have EVER experienced”

I was a member of LA fitness until recently, when I had reason to be unhappy about a change they had brought in regarding children's swimming charges. What the charges meant in real terms to me was a hike of £24 per month on top of my £40 per month membership. I tried to explain to the manager at the club that the charges had the effect of making my membership financially unviable. “Fraudulent money grabbers”

I used to work in the contact centre in doncaster. Mal-practise and greed was prevalent. 'get as much extra cash from members as possible' should have been the motto. Every last working day of the month-the phone lines went down???? It became a staff joke-it was only because they could get another months payment from those wishing to cancel their memberships on the last working day of the month. “Simply the worst”

Where to start... Terrible customer skills of the staff. Lets put it that they are mostly just rude. Equipment is cheap and last century. Gyms itself look like they are underground organisations- dirty, smelly, not looked after. Ever personal Trainers -who tend to generally be smiley and friendly ppl- ate grumpy and unfriendly unless you are their Personal customer. once they got you to sign this type contract LA don't care about you any more. Benefits that were promised are simply not fulfilled. Appointments are forgotten. They don't employ enough staff. You can asked some questions at reception but receptionists usually don't know what's going on, unprofessional but polite. They can change your membership conditions any time. Have been a member here for 6 years because the location is convenient for me - but I have to say in that time LA Fitness Southgate has gone from average to poor, so I'm thinking of going elsewhere. Their focus seems to be entirely on attracting new members. I was a member of bally's fitness for many years. I thought when La fitness took over ballys it was going to become a cleaner and better fitness club but in fact I am disappointed. I used to love going to the gym on Clark and Broadway in Chicago because staff were friendly and the gym was clean. specially in the pool area where I used to relax after a good work out using the steam room,whirlpool and then a quick swim to end my experience. Colchester - dirty gym, broken equipment, always out of action, staff rude and more interested in working out or chatting up female members. Shabby. This is the worst gym i have ever joined. When you cancel your membership (which you will because it is that bad) send it by letter and recorded delivery so you have some form of proof. After working for LA Fitness in North London for 7 years I have experienced over 7 different managers, all but two with a complete lack of management training. I would never recommend joining as a member or accepting a job from LA Fitness, the way the company operates is completely disgusting, with no respect for their staff or members. After paying membership to LA Fitness every month for 10 years (£56), I called to defer my membership for 9 months as I was no longer working. This could not be facilitated. The best offer was 2 months & that appeared to be a real concession!!! I was told that their existing membership offer was cheaper & I could take that. Clearly that was not suitable. (read more)

Without doing my research like an idiot I signed up to the LA fitness branch in Brighton. After my third attempt at using the equipment I wanted to I tried to cancel my agreement but as I was 3 days outside of the 14 day cooling off period this was refused. Classes booking system may be working or may not be working..depends on the day!So that means you are not able to book the classes you want for when you want. If you call to book classes although you will be told you will be "entered in the system" you better check twice before you show up. There is no permanent staff in this gym, people change too often to get the right training. No reception most of the times. Would not recommend this gym to anyone! Everything is so unorganized... the online booking system is constantly down, the cleaning standards are below average, the manager & other personnel change every few months as nobody want to stick around for long, the swimming pool/sauna are often 'not in use', there was no hot water in the showers for several weeks before they bothered fixing it, some classes can be cancelled without them asking for a replacement instructor to fill in... Well I've been a member here for over 18 months and boy is it downhill from 12 weeks into the membership. I started at the gym as I wanted a gym with a pool as I was recovering from very serious knee injury. Cleanliness was a major problem. When I was swimming, there was a childrens' class going on. Parents around the pool side who were observing were all wearing shoes without plastic covers and repeatedly walking in and out from the changing area to the pool, which includes going THROUGH THE SHOWER AREA. Review of LA Fitness Armagh: I am shocked reading all of these reviews of LA Fitness, in the past I have used the 3 day pass, and there was a Groupon offer where I got 20 passes for £20. I took a membership about 2 years ago, mostly because of my interest in attending a body balance class. The teacher was wonderful and the class well attended. Despite this, LA Fitness decided to scrap body balance classes after Christmas with no warning nor consultation of members. I signed up for 3 sessions free trial. Used 2 sessions and on the 3rd day they changed terms and said offer is only valid on 3 consecutive days. That wasn't in original T&Cs and I used the 2nd session more than 3 days after the first without problem. Reasoning didn't work with them and I ended up paying daily pay-as-you-go fee as I didn't want to turn back and go without working out. They keep sending me emails with "50% off membership" offers. Signed for a 4 month non-rolling contract paid in full, and after the end of it I did not sign for a new one. 2 months later LA Fitness sent a debt collection agency against me completely out of the blue(no earlier calls by LA Fitness, no notification emails, no letters, no nothing), telling me I owe them 2 months fees and I have to pay immediately. A per previous reviews my experience with LA Fitness is that tell you anything to get you to join and then just backtrack. Since I've been a member of LA, I've read a lot of bad reviews, and from my own personal experiences I couldn't disagree more with all the bad words said! The sales team who first signed me up, where helpful, awnsered all my questions, and set me up with the best start to the gym, the personal trainer I have is well on the way to helping me achieve my goals. I wanted to end my contract early and sent a message to LA Fitness via the 'Message Centre'. I had to prove that one of the following had happened before they would agree: 1. Moved house over 10 miles from any LA fitness - proof needed 2. Lost my job - a copy of P45 needed! 3. Medical reasons - doctors certificate needed I moved house, send the proof, job done. I joined LA Fitness on a 6 month contract as I was training for a specific event and didn't need the facilities for any longer than that. When I gave a month's notice I was informed that I agreed to pay for 6 full months direct debits PLUS the 25 days of the month I joined, so almost 7 months. Fully agree, these people are bad and they do not even honour their own membership agreements!
If you still have a copy of your original membership agreement, go through it to see what it says you agreed to. If it does not make mention of any of LA Fitness claims/extra charges on you, then you have a legal document in your hands that you can use to make them shut up. That is what I did and they left me alone.

The actual gym is really good and I was a loyal customer for a year's contract while training to do the great north run for charity. After a year, a guy in the gym talked me into staying on, on a rolling month basis because I was potentially moving. I agreed and verified with their head office that this was a rolling basis. Do not join this gym, my mum and i joined feb 2011 for a ONE YEARS CONTRACT. We went 3 times a week every week for almost 3 months, the gym was ok the jacuzzi was abit unclean. 3 months after we joined i fell seriously ill and almost died when we were sold the contract the lady said we could "freeze the membership" if we had a good enough reason. No support from senior managers who are all bonus driven .expected to work long hours night shifts at short notice . High turnover of staff
