Good Points: Most of the class teachers and some staff on front desk
Bad Points: Absolutely everything else
General comments: Been a member at Orpington for 4 years, it was originally Dragons but was taken over maybe 18 months ago? The place is dirty, showers broken (sometimes only cold water), missing ceiling tiles, rising damp in corridors with plaster faking off, duck tape used to hold edging up in shower room, mould almost everywhere in showers, broken steps into pool for months now, stains down walls and on carpets upstairs as roof leaks, pool is almost constantly out of action, gym equipment broken, admin a complete fiasco - direct debits hardly ever correct - yet they'll send really awful threatening letters. Classes cancelled and you're not contacted, lots of classes now combined because of cut backs. Never believe what they say when you join, they'll say anything and you've no proof later. I would not recommend joining, it will just give you heartache and cause you more stress than the work outs can allievate!

You can tell that this is a "Corporate run" business with no consideration to the customer. I had tried to cancel my membership in May, due to a move from an injury, only to find three months later that I was still being charged. I called, voiced my concerns and the staff was sympathetic, but, no help due to upper management saying that there was no records of doing so. When I first ventured into LA Fitness in Glasgow I was very nervous as I had never been a member of a gym before and expected it to be quite daunting. However I found that the friendliness of the staff made me feel completely at ease. Me and partner registered with the Muswell Hill LA Fitness since February 2008 on a student membership. They had this promotion called the Kickstart programme, where if you go to the gym at least twice a week for the first eight weeks, you will NOT be charged the fourth-month membership fee. I joined when they first opened, it was nice when they needed members to join and they cared, but now that have all these membership their services and the quality has gone done the drain, it is way to crowded, you always have to wait for a turn to take a shower, or get on the trademill, or other services. it has no value any more.

I joined LA Fitness because of the location. One location was brand new and the other nearest location was fairly new. I live in Riverside, CA and the Canyon Springs Pky and Mission Village Locations are the two I frequent.

I joined the la fitness in sydenham after being pushed through the door because i had put it off for so long. i dont know why i was so worried. paid £39 joining fee (which i get back if i go 3 times a week which i most probably will) and £35 for my months membership. i had my induction and a programme set for me so i have a structure to follow. i have been every day and it couldnt be any better. the manager took time to come over and say hello and let me know what he can do for me ...

I love LA Fitness - a big fan! I am currently a member of the LA Fitness in Marylebone and occasionally go to the one in Woking. So my review is based on these two alone. The facilities and the people are great - friendlier place then other gyms have been to. Purley LA FITNESS. This is the worst gym i have ever been a member of. The actual place is grubby and not maintained very well. There seems to be an eternity fo faulty equipment which take forever to be fixed. The showers are more of a dribble, the steam room broke and it took months to fix, one water fountain in whole gym which is faulty. Im being harassed for an unpaid membership. A membership I cancelled 3 months ago.
There happy when your a member & will tell you anything to get you to sign up.
When you decide you've had enough, they make it very difficult for you to cancel.
In end I cancelled my D/D, no I have a collecting agency on to me daily asking for £91???

I would never recommend this gym to anyone and what ever they say Month to Month is just to get you to sign in my opnion. sign to something you think you are getting but really will not ......I would not trust these people

Having recently moved to the area, I thought it was great that LA Fitness were offering a 5 day trial.
The website said, I could get a free 5 day pass. After printing it out and making my way to the gym in Southgate having left work early so I have plenty of time for the induction and to try a class.
I get there well in time only to be informed that the pass has to be "validated". No mention of that on the website!!! So, paid £2 extra to get to Southgate only for the staff to take down ...

A new and beatiful gym. Has a great selection of equipment and classes but is overshadowed by the incredibly poor customer service and equally bad personal training program. Better off joining a locally owned gym.

The actual locations cannot help you with anything. They always refer you to some office in California which has no phone number and a P.O. BOX. Somebody needs to shut this place down, they dont do anything really to help their customers.

I joined LA fitness in Highgate a couple of years ago to get fit, i was not told it was a 12 month contract until after signing, even though I specified i required a membership I could cancel at any time because i was traveling a lot at that point. I paid the extortionate signing up fee to get a ridiculous la fitness pack and to be made to feel inappropriate by their staff when I started going. I found my LA Fitness gym to be filthy, there was brown scum around the edge of the pool and thick dirt hanging off the ceiling. I cited these reasons as why I want to leave and they said they will only allow me to do so if my Dr says that the level of dirt in their building has been detrimental to my health. I would never even mildly recommend them, our local council owned facilities are far cleaner and LA Fitness is a disgrace.

Do not join this gym. The personal trainers are obnoxious. The customer service is a joke. They do not treat customers with any amount of decency and respect, in my opinion. Equipment is broken a lot of the time and they can take their time to fix it.
