Good Points: An excellent all rounder, with the usual Sony quality. You get what you pay for!

Bad Points: It was very naughty of Sony not to include a DVD-RW in the box. It took me a while to source (this is where the internet is actually useful). Of course none of the high street stores will sell you the DVD-RW's, because once you've bought some you don't need to buy more. But hey, stop treating us like idiots and make it easier for us to use the best that technology has to provide, rather than trying to make it difficult for us to get hold of when we know it exists.

General comments: The Sony DCR-DVD101 digital camcorder package software is very poor and slow. I use Cyberlinks Power Producer to extract the VOB files, and I work with them from there. Always record in VR mode so you can extract the individual recordings.

Buy a second battery and an independent charger, so when one is flat you are always ready for action.

Overall, what can I say? It's great. It's a Sony!

Now I suppose I have to consider upgrading to a HDD recorder for the High Definition Plasma TV's! Where will it end?

However, why oh why, do Sony only include a DVD/R in the box. This is an uneditable permanent recording. Who wants that for their first attempt? Then to discover that DVD RWs are unobtainable (all the stores are fed up). I have now ordered one from Sony on line but the delivery charge is grotesque (£7.88 delivery for one disc) Wi ...
