    Good Points: Good original fiction


    Bad Points: Small and cheaply made, some of the stories are a bit naff.


    General comments: I picked up a copy of Liverpool Stories magazine recently and was pleasantly surprised. Normally I'd avoid short stories like the plague as I find them, on the whole, the bastion of writers lacking ideas and experience. This magazine, a bargain at only £2, was just chock full of fairly interesting and diverse stories, all linked by the fact that they were set in Liverpool. Issue #1 included Sci Fi, mystery, suspense and romance. It was an enjoyable read on the whole, only spoilt by one rather ridiculous one-page piece of nonsense.

    I'd recommend it if you see it and fancy an hour's diversion.
