Bad Points: vocal but can be controlled with training, grooming requirements may be excessive for some (not too bad with so many groomers available now who know the standard schnauzer cut, need to research breeders to make sure parents don't have major health issues (PRA, etc) but you should be doing that for any breed you get

General comments: VERY intelligent, gorgeous, learns quickly, loyal, great housedog as well as a dog that loves to go hiking and anywhere else with you, gets along with other dogs (big and small), cats and other animals, doesn't shed, long lived generally, generally spunky personality with less dog aggression than some other terriers, average level of breed health issues

I have owned many mini's over the last 16 years and they are a wonderful companions - fantastic little dogs. Both males and females are great dogs. I will always have a schnauzer in my life!!

When I first decided on getting a Miniature Schnauzer I wasn't sure what I was letting myself in for. But my dog is gorgeous. She is very friendly to everyone and other dogs. She performs party tricks for the family and my children adore her. I would strongly recommend a miniature schnauzer!

Alfie our Miniature Schnuauzer has got to be the most placid, loving and cutest dog ever. I would recommend this breed, as they do not moult, they are quiet, healthy and cheap to feed. They love to go for a walk, and are happy whether you take them for half a mile or ten miles. Alfie sometimes refused to come back to us when let off the lead (usually when there is a bitch in season in the area). This I think is more of a "dog" thing as a miniature schnauzer thing.

    A highly recommended bree ...

After begging my dad to get us a border collie he wouldn't give in so I started searching for a low maintenance dog and I got the minitiare schnauzer. This dog requires at least 40 minutes of outdoor excercise a day. It should have a groom every 2 days. It's generally a healthy dog and can live past 15 yrs.

Miniature Schnauzer - My family have owned a lot of dogs in the past. A long list ranging from chihuahuas, through to border collies and labradors right up to great danes and dogue de bordeauxs, and many more.
But I can honestly say that dexter our Mini Schnauzer is the happiest most inquisitive all round family dog I've ever owned.
We had him sitting and coming to a whistle the first day we got him. He was housetrained within a week and never onced chewed our furniture.
And now 7 years on he ...
