Good Points: Strong leather carry case with belt eyelets
Large enough to hold properly with snug grip
Tactile, sturdy buttons and not too many
Various cables insert deeply, so no dodgy connections
1.6" LCD screen - bright and clear
Good depth of colour and overall natural picture
Compact Flash memory upgradeable to at least 256MB (390+ pictures at highest quality)

    Bad Points: No optical zoom
    No audio recording facility
Low video recording frame-rate (13 frames per second)
Few picture environment modes to achieve best results from differing conditions

General comments: The Jenoptik JD 2100M is a Great 2.1 megapixel camera with mainly bread and butter features, yet nicely done and very simple to operate. Picture quality is natural without suffering from over vibrance or gloss that some cameras do, in other words it doesn't flatter but feels more realistic instead which I prefer. Also the delay between pressing the shutter button to the camera responding is under a second (some cameras can be as much as two seconds).

It uses 4 AA batteries and I find these can last months, even when I use the LCD screen all the time and the flash fairly often too. I have even used good quality rechargeable ones in the same way and they can last a couple of months. I use the camera quite regularly but not every day.

I use PQI 256MB memory and this is very cheap at the moment. I highly recommend this media, especially in this camera as it loves it. You can store around 395 pictures at the highest quality and many, many times more in the other modes. I don't know if the camera can take larger memory cards than 256MB but it probably can.

As 2.1 megapixel cameras go, I would say this is the best value for money but not the most highly specified. If you want more features, options and optical zoom I would probably get a Fuji instead but that costs double!
