We've just been charged £84, plus a threat of £144 legal fees and visits from the debt collectors. We cancelled Pipex in March, but they claim never to have received our cancellation letter (they make you send a letter rather than communicate via email which would be traceable).
We moved out of the house blissfully unaware, but they now say we have £84 unpaid charges because the account wasn't cancelled. We could have contested this if we had known about it - but because we had moved out, by the time we got the letter we were way out of the 30 day response window. These people are criminals! What is to stop them doing this every time?
USE PIPEX AT YOUR PERIL AND EXPECT TO LOSE A LOT OF MONEY.

Hi one and all, Pipex are supplying a very expensive and poor service. It costs you every time you have to phone for support, and that is often. They blame you end every time, with you buying new filters, leads etc only to get "No dial tone". They should have there licence to operate revoked. I cannot find an e-mail address to claim back money owed that they promised would be re-inbursed. Don't use this internet supplier at all costs.- Read Guest's review (80 words)

Hi
In January 2008 my pipex contract begun and expired in January 2009, I recieved no notification of an expired contract and forgot about it. In July 2009 I decided to see if I could be upgraded to 16mbit via pipex given I just found out my contract expired, instead, they offered me a discounted deal and free home calls due to being a good customer, anyways, I declined and requested my mac code.
Next week I am on my new provider O2 and loving it, one morning I wake up and see a nasty letter s ...- Read Guest's review (307 words)

I originally subscribed to bulldog which was subsequently taken over by pipex. Since then the technical and customer service support has been hopeless and they make unsubscribing very difficult - it took me four months to get rid of them. Gone to PlusNet now which, if not perfect, does respond to customers. Beware take-overs as they are more concerned about acquisition of new customers rather than servicing their existing ones.- Read Guest's review (70 words)

I wouldn't recommend Pipex to an enemy, letalone a friend! I've been a customer for 15+ years, and they used to be a great company to deal with. In the last few years, as they've passed from one owner to another, they've become a total nightmare, especially for customer support.
Even simple reports of problems on their own website require drawn out conversations with support staff. I cannot believe that all their support personnel are as poor at their jobs as the replies would make them sound, ...- Read Guest's review (127 words)

PIPEX and TISCALI are hopeless. I was previously a Bulldog customer, but Bulldog was taken over by Pipex, (since taken over by Tiscali). I now pay my bill to Pipex, whose site I use to access email and other services provided.
Since the 14th of August there have been serious problems, i.e. for 18+ days. We have not been able to receive incoming land line calls since the 14th August. For approx 30 hours around the 25th August the line was totally dead - no phone, no internet. For around 30 hour ...- Read Guest's review (262 words)

I have been with Pipex for over 15 years now, broadband for the last 2, and I have to say that they used to be a pretty good company to deal with. Unfortunately something has gone horribly wrong with their Customer Services over the last couple of years. Since they started moving over to Tiscali I have had problems with my email which despite numerous phone calls to India(?) are still unresolved. I have spent 3 hours this evening unsuccessfully trying to find out how to get a MAC code from them ...- Read Guest's review (176 words)

Be warned do not touch Pipex with a barge pole everything will be fine until something goes wrong. i have been having lengthy, expensive calls with them since last Sept. In the end I had no choice but to change companies back to good old BT. I purchased a new router, face plate and cables all totally unnecessary they would not send out an engineer my internet connection was down for days at a time week after week, month after month. I kept telling them it was something to do with the line an ...- Read Guest's review (187 words)

Terrible service. AVOID PIPEX AT ALL COSTS. The customer services are rude and most unhelpful. I spent at one point 3 hours in the afternoon on the phone trying to chase my query whilst they passed me from person to person.
The worst customer service I have ever come across

1. having taken three direct debits for one account it took two years to get my £400+ back from Pipex Broadband
2. When they changed to Tiscali they said my DD at the bank would be changed automatically, I need do nothing. They then threatened to cut me off three months running unless I paid immediately over the phone. When I cancelled my subscription and switched to BT they sent debt collectors and threatened my credit rating. i am still seeking compensation in return for my 9 loyal year ...- Read Silverlock's review (92 words)

Pipex Pro review:I run a development web server on my line. I found that users in Asia cannot access my server/IP. I traced this problem back to a tiscali (Pipex's parent company... same resources) routing service. I bent over backwards to give them trace route details etc. The technical support refused to help me unless I ask more clients to do trace routes to my server. The support person admitted this was way over his head and I have to email network team who cannot be reached over the phone. ...- Read Guest's review (194 words)

Wouldn't touch Pipex Broadband with a barge pole, customer service is rubbish. Don't switch to them even if they are the cheapest, cause once you have an issue they don't want to know!!!

I have been with Pipex for 4 years and had no problems with the service until I moved house. Since then my broadband has rarely worked & I am unable to get online 50% of the time. I have made several complaints to Pipex (at a high call cost - I am also with them for calls) to no avail. As their call centre is no longer in the UK, understanding the operators is difficult, to sy the least. Like another reviewer, I have been told that their is 'no problem with my line' and again like another review ...- Read Guest's review (120 words)

Been with Pipex many years. Returned from holidays on Jan 24th 2009 to find connection down. Phone call 1, Sat 24th) "...regrading the system... might be back on soon". Phone call 3, Sun 25th) ..."account suspended...call Customer Services tomorrow..." Phone call 4, Mon 26th) Apparently, we hadn't paid our bill (we paid quarterly by cheque). Dreadful customer support with Pipex Broadband. Frequent promises of call-backs for assistance which never materialised. Unhelpful if not using a mainstream router.
Unreliable connectivity. It has taken 5 days to get my internet connection back working following problems at their end.

I signed up to Toucan broadband with anytime calls several years ago and the service was very good HOWEVER buyer beware as soon as Pipex/Tiscali took it over to cancel the service due to moving home became virtually impossible! I sent 6 emails and two hard copy letters and eventually received an email one month later saying I would have to give 30 days notice for cancellation from their reply. Considering I had given more than that I felt they were engaged in fraudulent behaviour only acknowledg ...- Read infuriated's review (137 words)
