“Manpower will not keep BT contract”

Written on: 18/05/2013

I recently carried out a phone interview, by Manpower, concerning joining the BT call centre in South Shields. I passed the phone test and was then set up on a computer test which seemed to crash or at least it did not go any further than the two modules I completed. I then received an email stating that I had not passed the test. I worked for BT previously and was number 1 sales person out of a the entire sales force in the building on a daily basis; and every day without fail. My... (read more)

I recieved a phonecall from manpower recently wanting me to do some seasonal waitressing work. I accepted instantly and spent near on 40-50 pounds on a uniform to start next day. Sadly I came down with an awful virus, and knowing I couldn't possibly work with food phoned up and let them know although I couldn't do tomorrow due to illness i'll be better soon. “DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME”

Written on: 19/03/2013

A totally rubbish recruitment agency! I was unfortunate to be rejected at the fourth attempt at passing their joke of an "assesment process" for BT. They make you do a verbal, numeric, call-handling and listening/typing test before you go for the actual face-to-face interview, and if you fail in any (even by a mere silly one mark) they instantly fail you. Complete and utter waste of precious time! If you plan on applying through this rubbish company then atleast make sure you have so much... (read more)

“Pay Between Assignments”

Written on: 12/03/2013

Manpower will make any new employee sign a PBA contract. This effectively waives your rights to a position at a company after 16 weeks and definitely waives your rights to equal pay. The 'compensation' for this is that you are paid minimum wage if your assignment at a company ends while Manpower find you another. This is no compensation at all, just a way to provide cheap employees to massive profit-making companies such as BT. Trying to book any holidays is almost impossible through BT.... (read more)

“Working in High Street Recruitment? You must be mad!!!”

Written on: 29/01/2013 by Cecil89 (2 reviews written)

Well the job in high street recruitment is not for the fainthearted. You need to be bold and with often over inflated ego and enjoy bitchiness. People which usually end up in the high street recruitment are very competitive, cunning and devious. I went into high street recruitment after working for few years for a public sector and straight was fed to lions. Survived a year, learnt a lot and developed a mega dislike to this job. I just recently had a telephone interview for Rainton Branch (North East) Went through Monster online agency to apply for part time customer enquiries. By the way this position and position for there Peterlee Branch was duplicated across many of the online agency sites. When I rang to apply for Rainton Branch was told position was not available but I could apply for Peterlee branch instead. They took me through a telephone interview. I found out today that I was unsuccessful even though I have over 9 years experience in customer service. Manpower was unable give me any feedback as to why I failed interview. I went back online low and be hold I found the original position duplicated across the agency websites again advertising for Part time customer Enquiries again, the position that was not available that was not available. Are these jobs made up to draw customers in. Also what makes you laugh is the spelling for Customer Enquires check it out! All position are duplicated across reeds, monster, etc.

I registered with Manpower Crawley years ago and was so disgusted with the service I walked away from it. It's like they don't know what the term 'Call Back' means. How do they still manage to keep going on and on with this same terrible, unprofessional, pathetic level of service? “Manpower Leicester, Every circus needs its clowns”

Manpower Leicester recruit for some of the best companies out there, yet their lack of incompetence is shocking. Corrupt agencies, allowed to do anything by the rules set up by two corrupt governments - labour and conservative - both as bad as each other.
The Business for Innovation and Skills will investigate - but almost always find in favour of the agency, even though they are blatantly wrong.

Their website is here:

But i bet even if you report them, you will get nowhere.

Very true and very common. The CHAPS payment costs them £30 to process, and as I heard from one large recruitment company recently, they don't make £30 out of the candidate on a short term contract, so they have to wait for their money. Recruiters are dishonest slimy sales people with no interest in the client or the candidate. All they care about is money and having worked for one of these outfits, I was horrified by the dishonesty of everything they do, and their completee disregard for the vulnerable and worried people who are looking for work.

Hays are not too far behind. They recruit people for ASAP starts and then things fizzle out. Useless. You cannot argue with these agencies as they keep clients happy and 99% of the jobs here in the UK are done through them. Rotten.

The contract of employment just says you will be told what holidays you get. nothing is clear and they tend to breach contracts.
i would not recommend manpower to anyone as ive been having problems for 5 years on the cable and wireless contract. (read more)
