“Hair Dye Disaster”

★☆☆☆☆

written by KellyJ94 on 01/10/2022

Unfortunately, I cannot leave a positive review for this product. I had a hair dye disaster. A few months ago I decided I wanted to go back to my natural colour (medium/dark brown), so I brought excellence creme in Medium Golden Brown. I was going from blonde, so I conditioned my hair and dyed it red first as you're supposed to. When I used the golden brown my hair turned black, and felt dry. Not sure what happened, but I had to bleach my hair to remove it, starting the whole process again! My hair is now (close to) the colour I want, but it's damaged and very dry. It could be that my hair is porous, but I've used another brand and it turned out ok. Not too impressed if I'm honest.

“Neutral review”

★★★☆☆

Coming from someone who's had her hair every colour of the rainbow: Black colours - Stick well. Though they're very hard to remove if you want to go lighter. Brown colours - Are good. They turn exactly the shade/depth of the box. Blonde colours - Tend to be a little trickier. They normally go the colour on the box, though they tend to fade. Red colours - Are bold and hard to get rid of.

“Feeling Let Down”

written by ElliottWelsh2 on 08/05/2015

I have used your hair colours for many years. I found a colour I loved. You took it off apparently to change the packaging but its a lie. Not only has the picture on the box changed, you changed the serum. Probably saving money by maikng the serum weaker...it is not the same great serum it once was cassie

“far from the picture”

★☆☆☆☆

written by ludytom77 on 07/02/2015

Avoid unless you want extremely dark brown hair. Do not get tempted by the picture or name as it will be far from light brown.I only held the colour for 10-15 min and got dark brown result. Now heading to Boots to get a colour remover. I can somehow never find loreal colours to be what they say on the pack.

“Could be better could be worse”

★★★☆☆

written by selina345 on 05/01/2015

As with any hair colour it does what it says on the box. But be careful on the shade you choose. Rich none drip texture. No bad reactions while using the product. Protective serum and conditioner could be better. A bit pricey as well. Colour seems to either not take or fade. Have used better hair colour products.

“Great”

★★★★★

written by on 05/01/2014

I have almost platinum blond hair, but my original hair is medium/darkbrown. I usually first dyed my roots en than put a lightashblond colour (doesnt matter wich brand, all worked) on it and than I had platinum blond hair. But I was sick of first dying it and then colouring it. So since 6 months Ive been trying different light ash blond colours on my roots without dying it and it all ended up too dark or too orange, not bad at all but I wanted better. My original hair contains a lot of red pigment so I always choose a colour with ash in it like 9.1 or 10.2 but nothing worked till I found this.... Okay so my roots dont get as light as the rest of my hair but thats normal. You cant get lighter hair without dying it or uncolour it first but this cream makes you're hair a bit lighter and without the orange tone. So for everyone who has dark hair, this makes you're hair light golden/ash blond. My roots are darker but normally the roots are always darker so this looks natural in stead of what I used to have.

“Way Wrong Colour”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 10/08/2013

I bought E46, which was supposed to be a very pretty copper red colour. What did I end up with? Dark brown, with only the slightest hint of red. I put this dye on top of dirty blonde hair so there's no reason it should have gone so dark. L'Oreal needs to really do an assessment of the colours on the box because it didn't come out even remotely close at all. I wanted Joan from Mad Men. I got Trudy.

My hair was really light blonde, I tried the 10.21 Alaska Ash colour from Loreal and it didn't do anything to my hair! NOTHING! waste of time and money!

“SUPERB!”

I also use to xxl live colour (have done for 10 years) - but found I needed my hair trimming every 3 weeks as it went very dry. My natural colour is medium brown with grey - even though it says not suitable. IT WORKED! My hair is soft and shiny. The best its ever been. Going the hair stylists because it's too long NOT BECAUSE ITS DAMAGED. If this didn't work for you - then you must have been doing it wrong!

i was tired of my streaks, sick of the bleaching & the roots. i saw Blake Lively's strawberry blonde colour on pictures online and decided to give it a go. I picked Loreal Excellence C34 Copper Blonde, and after reading reviews on here i was a little worried. I did a test strand, it came out fine, so i decided to do it. im THRILLED with the results. <3

“Yellow ugly hair!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Msperfect88 on 28/04/2013

This product is terrible. I bought the lightest ultimate blonde and followed directions perfectly. My hair turned out a gross yellow color. My hair was the same color as on the box and it was supposed to turn out a pretty light white ashy blonde. It didn't. Don't waist your time or money. And by all means don't ruin your hair. Won't make this mistake again!

“'Natural Brown' - not!”

★★★☆☆

written by Janew123 on 27/02/2013

I used this product for the first time last week. My hair is a very dark brown and i wanted to enhance my natural colour whilst getting the greys covered at the same time but was anxious that i didnt end up with black hair, so i contact L'oreal Customer services for advice. I was advised to try the 'Natural Brown No 5' shade - which i did. The result wasnt what i was expecting!!! - my hair didnt go black...but ended up with very noticeable copper tones running through it!!! yuk!! Not sure how this can be classed with being 'Natural brown', but has put me off using this shade again and have now bought the 'Darker Natural Brown' shade

“loreal excellence 03 extra light blonde”

★★★★★

written by littlesue on 29/11/2012

I read very mixed reviews on this colour but I have to say it worked brilliantly on my hair. My natural colour is light brown with alot of gold tones and have had to use the ultra lift dyes before, but wanted to find something that lifted my hair without being so strong. I tried the ash blonde in this range but it did make my hair look a dirty dark blonde and the light ash blonde very similar. With the extra light blonde it has lifted my hair but it is a very natural blonde which I have never been able to achieve even at a hairdressers. It doesnt cover grey well but that can be resolved by using a darker blonde on the greys. The great thing about this brand and colour is although loreal use a slightly stronger developer compared with other brands it is still not as stronge as the ultra lift blonds which use double the developer to colour. Alot of the reviews that I read said that this colour made their grey but the reason for this is that they had used it on hair that was already very light blonde. I dont put this colour on the lengths of my hair as they are already light blonde and it would turn them a grey/blue colour. I only colour the roots which need to be lifted up to match the rest of the coloured hair. I am so pleased I researched this colour, I have finally found what I was looking for.

written by isabel12 on 14/10/2012

Excellent result in colour. It has that perfect sometimes blonde, sometimes darker wheat look that I wanted. very Kylie Mygnoish, Initially I was worried by reviews about blue hair but I need not have as this was not the case. No yellow tones. Easy and pleasant to use, no odour. Perfect for me.

“Colour fades dramatically in a couple of weeks”

★★★☆☆

written by on 02/10/2012

I have been tried several shades of brown over the past few months. My problem was that my hair had lightened naturally because of the sun and sea. i wanted to go darker to my natural tone and as i dont have any greys my plan was to dye it one time only. I started with natural light brown which on the box looked exactly like my natural colour. It turned out beautiful to begin with, although slightly darker than expected. within a couple of weeks it had faded to a coppery-blonde. since then i have tried 2 different darker shades of brown which turned my hair almost black to begin with and has since faded to a very light brown. Maybe this would work for someone who dyes their hair every few weeks but definitely not for someone who wants to dye it once and then let it grow out

“Grey at 17”

★☆☆☆☆

written by on 10/08/2012

I wanted to have a slightly darker blonde to what I usually go for, so went for 813 and my hair has turned out grey. Not to mention how dry my hair felt after I had washed it out. I have written to them requesting a refund, as to whether or not I get it we will soon see.

I purchased Pravana Chormasilk Colour 4n and 7.1 medium ash blonde. The colour didn't colour up my highlights it made them grey. Can I colour just the top with just the brown?
