I have been dying my hair blonde for years and tend to change product from time to time because I live in Egypt and it's not always possible to get the same brand each time. While I was home in the UK I bought L'Oreal Excellence Creme Blonde Supreme: Lighest Ash Blonde 03.
I followed the instructions on the box and was impressed that they had a protective pre-colour treatment. Since the front of my hair is always lighter than the rest I thought it would prevent it getting lightened again.
After leaving the colour on for the allocated time, rinsing and drying my hair I found that my roots were still quite dark and where I applied the protective treatment there are streaks of purpley grey!
I have NEVER had a result like this and I am not happy that something I used to PROTECT my hair has caused a problem I wouldn't have otherwise had.

I read some reviews that this product ended up darker than the picture on the package. So I thought this would be perfect for dying my hair black. I have a mix of medium and light brown long hair (where the sun and styling have bleached it) and shampoo my hair daily. I used the "just Black" color. It didn't give me any noticeable damage and I have dyed my hair at least 3 times before. It was really black for about 2 weeks, then it faded to a natural black for another 2 weeks. Then for the next 2 ...- Read Guest's review (197 words)

The pre-colour protective treatment clogs your hair up like custard, and makes it very hard to apply the actual colourant easily, as after putting the protective treatment on you can no longer get a comb through your hair. Also, within 2 weeks my grey was showing through again. I only wash my hair every other day so there's no excuse!
I've been colouring my hair for nearly 20 years and this is the worst product I have ever come across.- Read Guest's review (78 words)

I use 10 Lightest Ultimate Blonde and it works great! I have long hair and 1 box covers it all. I have been doing full weave of highlights at an expensive hair salon since I was 16 and can't afford it anymore, but I do go back every 9 months for a few highlights to keep dimension in my hair color. My hair stylist said this box color is the perfect hair color and not to change a thing! Definitely worth every cent!- Read christywclark's review (79 words)

Twice now I've used this dye and both times I had the same result: Nothing. I get maybe a slight color shift, and it does leave my hair shimmery, but the color doesn't change. I bought it this most recent time, thinking I had simply used it incorrectly the first time a few years ago, but once again I had no color change at all. Going from medium brown to black my hair remained medium brown, and going from dark brown to red my hair darkened slightly and gained a slightly red tone. It's pretty, bu ...- Read Guest's review (114 words)

I have used LOreal preference excellence cream no 9 Oslo for a number of years now and have been very pleased with the result ( was a natural blonde anyway until some grey arrived). I recently bought the same colour as normal and was horrified when about five minutes the colour of the liquid was turning a horrible dirty grey black colour instead of the usual golden red! I was used to. I panicked and immediately washed the lot off as I knew something was wrong. The result fortunately you mi ...- Read Guest's review (146 words)

I bought the golden brown colour to put on my fading colour (med brown which had started to fade into a marmalade blonde) left for ten minutes and am horrified to say my hairs now black. im a very pale skin colour and look ridiculous. (i dyed my hair black a year ago to find out how terrible i looked n never wanted to be black again, last time it cost a small fortune to get rid of it). not happy at all and will never buy LOreal Excellence Cream again.- Read Guest's review (91 words)

I don't understand what the others are saying about LOreal Excellence Cream not covering gray - I have a blotch of gray hair over my right ear and since switching to L'Oreal Excellence Cream from Nice and Easy the only gray on my head is the new growth. My hair also stays the rich, dark brown I want for much longer. In fact, I only have to recolor monthly for the grays, not because of excessive fading like with Nice and Easy fading. Yes, the color I use is almost black at first but it fades with ...- Read Guest's review (181 words)

Bought LOreal Excellence Cream Natural blonde which turned out a dull brown "dead rat" looking shade! The conditioner was very good though. Have now bought a light blonde shade and hope it works! This colour was recommended by my hairdresser.- Read Guest's review (40 words)

Used a beige blonde (think it as 9-1 or something) - went on easily and washed off easily but this beige has turned my hair a nasty dull grey shade - much darker than the colour shown on the packet, in the photo and much darker than I wanted... I won't use L'Oreal Excellence Cream again due to this inaccuracy. I now want to work out how to get rid of this colour as quickly as possible without wrecking my hair with more colour... ergh.- Read Guest's review (85 words)

I have had my blonde highlights in salons since I was 16, im naturally a dark blonde. I found it was high maintainance and expensive especially now I live in the city and with a hair cut costs a hundred quid!
Had only ever dyed my hair once before and that was a disaster so spent a long time choosing! Was drawn to L'oreal Excellence Creme in Frosted blonde as I have same eye colour and skin tone as the model on the front so figured it would suit me and im really happy with the results.- Read Hayleyelizabeth's review (213 words)

I like how easy LOreal Excellence Cream is to apply, no dripping. I also like how it makes my hair shinny and smooth after coloring. Others tend to make it dry and frizzy.
The color will stay about 5 to 6 weeks on me, then I have to re-apply. Would like to see more coupons available, especially at Lorealparisusa.com. I can find coupons on your website.- Read steltzlen's review (78 words)

I got the Loreal Excellence To Go 10 minute because there was a $3 coupon. Big Mistake- 6G Light Golden Brown - No way did it appear to me to match the color on the box. Turned out way to dark, dingy, lifeless, no warmth, dreadful.
Worse hair color I ever got. WIll go back to Nice and Easy.
Always turns out Nice! Have never had trouble like this before with hair coloring. Product should be dumped - yesterday.- Read Guest's review (77 words)

I think the product should warn that while covering all the grey, it eliminates all natural variations and previous highlights and the color is darker than it appears on the box.
The product I used was Excellence creme Light Brown E.
My hair was medium brown with grey and white new growth.
I did the touch-up new growth instructions.
The result was all over dense monotone black.
I expected the white and grey to be slightly lighter shades of brown and the medium brown to be medium/light brown.
I ...- Read Guest's review (192 words)

Made my hair feel really soft, doesnt seem to be washing out quickly I bought this as loreal seems like a brand you can trust. I didnt put on the protecting stuff as i wasnt really sure what you was meant to do with it? i found it easy to apply and the non drip was really good! It was not messy at all and didnt get on any of my clothes which was a first. I left it on for the 20 minutes, however it came out near enough black which i wasnt very impressed with as the colour (natural dark brown) is ...- Read Guest's review (125 words)

LOreal Excellence Cream - I have been using hair bleaches and colourings for over 50 years, and have never had my hair go red like this. I think that the time (30 mins) for development is too short, meaning that the bleaching element only gets to the 'orange' state instead of the blonde.I also noticed that the little sprinkling of grey hairs I have are still clearly visible.I am going to try using a shampoo designed for grey hair to add some blue and hopefully tone down the colour.I cannot reco ...- Read Guest's review (170 words)

The comb that comes with it helps a lot with application, creme formula is great. i don't color my hair very often, but i much prefer this product. it's the hassle free version. creme does not drip, smells pretty good
left my hair very nourished. very silky smooth, more so than it was before. not what i was expecting out of a dye. normally they dry out my hair
pre-treatment creme for damaged parts and ends of hair is an awesome bonus
in general, the only thing i don't like about it is that yo ...- Read jes325's review (160 words)

I have been coloring my hair since I was 9 years old - I am now 38 years old. I've used every brand / product out there and I have been every color possible. This, by far, is the BEST over-the-counter hair color product out there. Covers my gray with no problem. Color does not come off on my towel (unlike Feria which is notorious for that). The color does not fade (now, being solid gray you have to understand that my root growth causes me to have to color every 3 to 4 weeks so maybe it does ...- Read atlantakemps's review (218 words)

Absolutely hated Loreal Excellence Cream, I dyed my hair 'Natural Dark Brown' which actually made my light brown hair look black. I followed the instructions and have successfully used many other hair colouring products before.- Read abigailp's review (62 words)
