This product is terrible. I bought the lightest ultimate blonde and followed directions perfectly. My hair turned out a gross yellow color. My hair was the same color as on the box and it was supposed to turn out a pretty light white ashy blonde. It didn't. Don't waist your time or money. And by all means don't ruin your hair. I used this product for the first time last week. My hair is a very dark brown and i wanted to enhance my natural colour whilst getting the greys covered at the same time but was anxious that i didnt end up with black hair, so i contact L'oreal Customer services for advice. I was advised to try the 'Natural Brown No 5' shade - which i did. I read very mixed reviews on this colour but I have to say it worked brilliantly on my hair. My natural colour is light brown with alot of gold tones and have had to use the ultra lift dyes before, but wanted to find something that lifted my hair without being so strong. I tried the ash blonde in this range but it did make my hair look a dirty dark blonde and the light ash blonde very similar. With the extra light blonde it has lifted my hair but it is a very natural blonde which I have... (read more)

I have been tried several shades of brown over the past few months. My problem was that my hair had lightened naturally because of the sun and sea. i wanted to go darker to my natural tone and as i dont have any greys my plan was to dye it one time only. I started with natural light brown which on the box looked exactly like my natural colour. Okay, so before I get into crazy detail, let me just inform you a little background history of my hair. So, a few days ago I decided to bleach my hair with 'l'image blonde max" something like that. I do have to say being a haircolor junkie it did turn my hair blonde fast. I rinsed it out when it was at pale yellow with a tiny tinge of orange in it. I wish I had read the reviews here before using this product because I see other people have had the same experience with the blonde shades as myself... It's been a long winter and my normally light brown/mousy hair became very dull from lack of sun, so I decided to dye my hair and get rid of the ashy tone that had set in. I loved Golden copper blonde excellence colourant 8.34 and like it appears many other users have used it for years, despite sometimes trying something else, always came back to 8.34. Why does Oreal have to delete such a popular colour - what is the thinking behind it? Like others I agree there is nothing remotely near it in any range of products. I have just had to try another product, hardly similar to 8.34, it is wet on my head now and I am dreading the result. Please Oreal bring it back.... (read more)

I too have used this colour for years...have been searching no-one has it.. discontiued. What are these 'hair experts' thinking about?? I have tried the number 7.3 but it came out brown after using it on top of the remains of the 8.34..I am originally copper/blonde and there is nothing anywhere that is anything like 8.34..think of the customers for a change because if I find a similiar product out there I will be moving away from Loreal

L'oreal 9.34 is a new one out but you have to order online through beautyencounter or Ebay. It is the lightest Golden Copper Blonde and is excellent. It cost around $10.00 plus extra for shipping. I still do see the L'oreal 8.34 in Coles Supermarkets etc. Goodluck as it is a very good product.

Yes I agree with all the other comments. I too have been using this colour for many years and everyone comments on the colour. Why would you discontinue such a popular colour. Another disappointed consumer. I have tried 8.3 which I have just used but not as happy, still looking for something similar to 8.34....L'Oreal if you have so many unhappy customers why don't you bring it back, please. Even my hairdress loved the colour on me. Isn't better to keep customers happy and by doing that we recommend your brand name, logic to me.

I totally agree! For a year now I have been desperately trying to find a similar colour but have not found anything! The best I've found is Feria "Mango" and then use John Freida blonde spray and shampoo for a couple of washes to tone it down to that lovely shade of golden copper blonde. I also beg L'Oreal to bring it back!!!!

Like you have used this hair colour for many years. I'm absolutely devastated that L'Oreal have now discontinued 8.34 Golden Copper Blonde. Have phoned L'Oreal and they said if enough people ring it may be brought back due to popular demand, PLEASE RING L'Oreal 0800 0304 031. That still leaves us with the problem of what do we do in the meantime.

The pre-colour protective treatment clogs your hair up like custard, and makes it very hard to apply the actual colourant easily, as after putting the protective treatment on you can no longer get a comb through your hair.
