I think they changed the product in the last six months. I can tell by the growth of my hair that it does not dye the grey anymore, plus it dries it out so bad, like straw, that I almost shaved it off. I bought the same medium ash color for many years, and nothing in my health changed. I just bought a different product at a slightly higher price and my beautiful hair is back! What I do like: It was pretty easy to do, took about as long as it takes to wash and shampoo your hair, and didn't stain my bathroom sink or counter, even when it was left on for more than a few minutes. It doesn't have the greatest scent ever, but it definitely doesn't smell bad. I was also happy to find that the stains that it left on my skin rubbed off easily with just water. It rinsed clear fairly quickly, and there isn't that much color washing out each time i shampoo, even though I did... (read more)

I have highlighted brown hair and chose this shade to cover greying roots and to tone down the highlights. I so wish I'd left well alone! I have very long hair and I bought two bottles, but one was enough. After using this product I rinsed it and while I was in the shower my hair felt like gum, I'm not sure if it's because I used a lot of dye or what, but I was not too happy. After reading a number of mixed reviews, I decided to test the product myself. My hair was in an average condition although, after bleaching it blonde a year ago, there were several different shades of colour throughout. My natural hair colour was brown and I'd decided on the auburn colour. To begin with, the skin test is a little annoying. Do not use this product - it is the most difficult hair dye package to use. From lack of warning regarding liquid format, to the fact that you need three arms to actually pump the product, massage the foam and stop the dripping. I am very angry at the fact that my bathroom is covered in hair dye, as is my shoulder, neck and forehead. Utterly useless and the worst dye product I have used in over a decade - never again. I have had similar problems, I started using the dye two years ago I used light natural auburn and always got a beautiful radiant copper tone, the dye had no problems lightening my dark brown hair. Then after a few mishaps with experimentation I went back to my natural brown for just over a year. Tonight I decided I would try to go back to the beautiful auburn colour I used to have and used the same dye I used originally and even though I left it in for much longer than it says to, the colour I got was nowhere near what it used to be, it barely changed my hair at all. I find it impossible to believe they haven't changed the formula.
