I had a right nightmare trying to find a good towing car for my tourer, well to fit with my long wish list. I wanted the sliding doors, 7 seats, privacy blinds, tables for the kids, good towing weight and 2.2 engine. I didn't want to spend much but I found the C8 which I never even counted on until I test drove one. I bought a 2.2 without knowing it cuz it was advertised as a 2 litre and found out later when I came to insure it! Anyway it pulls like a storm, it's comfortable, I can load it… Read Full Review

I have owned this car from new. For me it's very comfortable and stylish car than mpv car. It's true that the car have many problem like antipollution fault but in fact it's some kind of very sensitive sensors. I had got this problem too but i can fixed it by just clean car engine. This car have made about 10 years ago but i think it have modern system that some car in this year didn't have such as onboard computer ,door sensor. Unfortunatelly this model have been stop making for now… Read Full Review

Maybe I have been lucky - I find my C8 (living in Denmark) very reliable. It has run more than 250.000 km by now without any major problems. But ofcourse some lamps and funny reactions on the electrical side can occur. Right now, I have one request: I have build-in board computer with the 7-8 inch screen in the middle. The screen is black most of the time, but on rare occasions it turns on - so the computer is basically OK, only the screen is somehow faulty. It seems to have something to do… Read Full Review

Citroen C8 04
This C8 has been the worst car I have ever owned.
Cam belt snapped at 90,000 miles when it was not due for replacement untill 100k.
Depolution system warning light comes on and car limps home at 10 miles an hour. Citroen main dealer told us it needed a new depolution system so they fitted one £1200 and no difference, then they decided it was a fault with the turbo - yes we replaced that on there say so - no difference, they replaced various bits at costs I wish to forget.

I had had my C8 since new, bought it because had two babies and the electric doors were ideal. I don't think there has been six months that have gone by where the car has not been in the garage being fixed. It has had a new particular filter, four volume mass meters and recently we have had the anti pollution light on and no one can fix it. It has gone into Citroen twice and as I turned the engine on to pick it up the same problem has occurred. The temperature outside keeps going down to… Read Full Review

The Citroen C8 is a practical and stylish MPV let down by poor engineering, an overcomplicated design and rubbish after-sales service. I've owned mine for 6 years. Don't buy one. Ever. Unless you want to pootle around with no power, limited to 3000 rpm because of the famous anti-pollution fault. This randomly comes on and puts the engine in limp home mode, whenever it decides to, usually just as you set off on a long journey. The dealer will sell you a change of particle filter for £750… Read Full Review

Looks like I've had a lucky escape. It was the best car of its type on the market in 03 when I bought it new. It has been pretty reliable but with a few niggles such as the fuel pollution warning and engine management light coming on during a long journey, the winscreen washers and the failure of the electrics on the doors and alarm. I'm driving to the French Alps in the summer. Perhaps I should take another car looking at these reviews… Read Full Review

Great car if it was reliable. But 2.0 litre auto diesel needs more power and better fuel consumption. New auto gearbox required after 65000 miles. New drive shafts, lots of faults over the years; some couldn't be resolved. Tyres wear out at 10000 miles, electrics hopeless. Many visits to garage and spent a lot on repairs for a car we bought at 18 months old. Will never buy another French car; will go German or Japanese… Read Full Review

Purchased a Citroen C8 on an 03 plate what a mistake had the vehicle 3 years and have spent well over £3000 on it water pouring through sunroof into electrics. Since then sunroofs won't shut properly or windows on the door lock system Citroen state it needs a new mother board but won ' t supply as it is too expensive. Door handles peeling cannot be replaced they don't make them anymore. Now bottom pulley broken, when in garage major fuse blown, then they found the cam belt had jumped teeth… Read Full Review

Have had my Citroen C8 for 18 months, in that time I have had problems with the sliding off side door opening by itself while the car was parked.
An ignition key that was not recognised by the car. Replacement took 6 months to come from Citroen.
Now the automatic gearbox had lost its gears.
An MPG of 28.2 is not good news at today's fuel prices… Read Full Review

We bought our first brand new car, as we had a young family, and wanted a reliable practical car. Within 1 week, it was back in the garage, and has been in and out since. You name it, it has broken. On the start of a road trip to Italy (very brave) we got 1 mile from our home and the gear box went. It cost us £600 in plane tickets as a result. We have had a constant leak in the driver sun roof from day one, which has been seen by two different dealerships and still not fixed. On our return from… Read Full Review

I have a love-hate relationship with my Citroen C8. On the one hand it was the most practical and refined large MPV on the market when I bought it. On the other hand I do not feel that I can rely on it.
It seems Citroen had a really good idea but then failed to implement it well.

I have owned this Citroen from new and all I can say that its was the biggest waste of a car I have ever bought. Tyres that wore down after 10,000 miles. Doors that didn't shut properly, air con that had a mind of its own, so did the electric windows, seats that broke, handles all the chrome came off within months from new, engine oil sensors that didn't work, brake pad warning that didn't work, drivers seat that fell apart, seat belts that had to be replaced, that many recalls I lost count, in… Read Full Review

The Citroen C8 Exclusive 2.2 Hdi would be a very good car if it worked. Faults under 3yr warranty included: failure of central locking (dealer fixed bad earth), rear wash water squirted into car lining (fixed myself), mirrors don't unpark correctly (dealer can't fix), engine smell (dealer fixed at great expense to him), failure to start - towed to dealer by AA (dealer took weeks to fix - replaced ECU and wiring loom at great expense to him), tailgate flaked (dealer replaced), spurious air bag… Read Full Review

On the whole, the positives outweigh the negatives - we have thoroughly enjoyed 3 years with the Citroen C8, and are about to renew it. My Citroen has had a problem with the brake servo after only 73,000 miles. Beware when buying these cars, as they were built for overseas and were not converted properly for right hand drive, something that would take 3.5 hours labour, can take upto 25 hrs, due to the fact that they have to take the engine out to change a part that costs £150. The Citroen C8 Exclusive 2.2 Hdi People Carrier is a well thought out people carrier that feels safe and secure to drive. The automatic box is smooth with good gear ratios, the brakes are superb as is the steering, it's a doddle to park.
