Good Points: Excellent build quality
Plenty of space with extra width over most UK vans
Perfect layout
Loads of storage
On-board water tank
One position gas assisted handbrake
Spectacular interior 'mood' lighting
Bad Points: Heavy, so needs a beefy tow vehicle
Door on the 'wrong' side
General comments: I first saw the 2.5m wide Hobby 540UL Caravan at a Manchester show and was mighty impressed. However, the narrower 2.3m is the widest you can tow in UK without a commercial tow vehicle. Our version has 2 fixed single beds which is a great improvement over both the normal UK settee conversion, and the fixed double where someone has to climb over. Space inside the van is fantastic with storage everywhere. Lighting is particularly good, with subdued 'hidden' lights when the mood suits. Massive fridge, microwave but no oven. 12v battery and charger are optional extras but we don't bother as we never site anywhere without mains. The wide vans are a good choice if you are going to site somewhere long-term and you can get a truck to tow. Also much cheaper than UK vans. Finally, if you are adventurous, you can import from Germany and save loads.

Compare Bailey Caravans
Caravans have become a favourite way of holidaying in the UK in recent years. No longer seen as silly or odd, more and more of us are taking the plunge and buying a caravan.

The ones that we liked most, and the ones that ticked most of the boxes, bearing in mind the current 2.3m width restrictions in the UK were the Hobby 540UL Excelsior and the Fendt 510TG Diamant,
