★★★★★

written by Evetts1974 on 16/08/2016

Visited the park today after a 10 year absence I went with my young family which consisted of a 3 a 4 and a 5 year old I only had to pay for one as the other 2 were under 1m so I was worried their would be nothing for them, how wrong was I they went on more than me the park was baking in sunshine which always helps and we spent ALL day their all attendants were helpful ( young admitted) but was pleasant and helpful my children loved the parrot show and the sea lions the girl who presented both shows was very confident and could tell She had a good relationship with the animals a very pleasant day out thank you

“overpriced, tatty and half open”

★☆☆☆☆

written by GloriaGraves on 02/07/2014

Visited here 1st July, half the park was closed, very tatty and needing updated. Gift shops all closed and the animals didn't exactly look the picture of health. Would defo not recommend or re visit. The staff all looked lacklustre and there was no sense of any of them wanting to be there. Food court was a pleasant surprise however, nice tasty pizza

“Pleasure I island”

★★☆☆☆

written by Waz2010 on 02/06/2013

The rides are good but most people have been to pleasure island before so are use to those rides but for people going for first time it's good not many people go because they have been that many times and not much has changed they should invest in some new rides get rid of some of the old kids rides a lot of them are hardly used the rides could do with a bit better maintenance and love and care they could get rid of the go karts and the frog hopper and put another ride in that area they have 2 rides near enough the same the pendulus and another ride they could also fill the lake in and build another roller coaster there they need to invest in more rides to get more people interested but at the moment I wouldn't recommend any one to get food from there I ordered a meal deal half pizza with fries and a drink and also got a jacket potato for my partner she got hers and we sat down while I waited for mine they put pizza in took it out after it was cooked they had cooked the fries and just left the pizza sat on side while there was over 6 staff members stood talking and messing about so I got up went to the counter and they asked if I was waiting for something I said yes I ordered a meal deal they said ok it won't be long the pizza had already been sat on the side for about 5 mins if not longer and the fries had been cooked but one of the staff members took the fries for her self walked out the back with them and had them for her self instead of serving me first so I had to wait longer so while I was waiting longer the pizza was still sat there going colder and colder fries were cold also when I finally got my food was rubbish rubbish food rubbish service think they need to sort it out complained and I wasn't the first to complain about and prob won't be the last if its not sorted

“Great 2 hours out”

★★☆☆☆

written by on 14/07/2012

How an earth they can say a DAY out! we had done everything within 3 hours and been on every ride! Even the kids was board of the rides, they only have one roller-coaster and a half wannabe coaster. the rides was new in 2006, but they have the same rides every year! Nothing new besides the odd thing! They charge too much considering by 2012 standards they have no true white knuckle rides just an old roller-coaster bought from a holiday park back in 1986 and stupid little rides that are slow and sluggish and old... Just a right let down! People that say this park is good have clearly not been to Thorpe park or Alton towers that don't charge much more then these! yet offer much more value for money! I don't have to ride the same thing 304 times

“Not a fun day out for the family”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dmwright02055 on 07/06/2011

We visited the theme park and paid £18 per person. there were 7 paying guest in our party so a total we had 2 3- for 2 tickets so all in all we paid £108. The park is advertised as a brilliant family day out but we struggled to fill 3 hours. The rides are old, many of them didn't work and those that did were a dissapointment. Some also still had the stickers from other theme parks (flamingo land )on them. Health and safety did not seem to be a priority as there were a lot of sharp edges on some of the rides suitable for children. The train around the park is slower than walking and the monorail leaves a lot to be desired. The go kart track only had 2 working karts, the water slide only had 1 working slide. The new ghost train was about as scary as mickey mouse and the matts for the slides were so worn away they were pointless. We took my 2 year old niece to the childrens indoor play area to be met by a dingy, dirty play area which had nails sticking out of some apparatus and very little lighting. We decided not to let her play on the items so there was nothing for her to do all day. The sea lion show was poor, the only tricks the sea lions did were a lot of waving and jumping to hit a ball. This is harly surprising though as the facilities for the animals were no better than the facilities for the humans. I would never go here again, i would not recommend it to anyone. It is very poor value for money.

“Park Health and safety is a little to be desired. My...”

written by on 08/09/2010

Park Health and safety is a little to be desired. My wife had her hand trapped in the safety equipment on a ride called the oblitorator. The ride attendant pushed the apparatus in to positon to secure it.
1st aid took ten mins to arrive at the scene "on foot" with nothing but a radio to hand. I told him and the ride attendant that this was very poor, to which the 1st aider and ride attenant replied what do you know mate!!
I ask the 1st aider did the caller over the radio tell you that a woman had her hand trapped in safety apparatus, no he replied I was told that I was needed at the ride. What if my wife fainted and went into convultions, worse still, what if there was a heart attack victim on the park? Put simply they are under resourced and badly trained.

Poor and inadequate safety signage on the ride to warm passengers of the danger, which was A4 sized in the wrong colour and it obscured by the ride barrier as it faced forward but the bars obscured most of the intended warning.

The accident report was left form was left to one side and the first aider said that they would complete it later!! H/S regulations breach.

We had to ask for a refund which they gave very reluctantly and we were kept waiting for 20 minutes for it in the area where entrance pay before entering the park. To top it off we were escorted off the park by security.

In short, if you want a good day out do not go to Pleasure Island Cleethorpes the health and safety is extremely poor. How do I know this? I am a chartered member of IOSH.

For a fun local day out try Fantasy Island Skegness instead...

Just to let everyone know this park has now reopened. Apparently the closure was due to delays in a takeover by new owners. See report http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/humber/8645522.stm

the coffee service was second to none. None being better. bad attitude and poor coffee. staff should spent more time dusting and serving and learning to make a decent coffee instead of yacking in the back.
Cleethorpes renowned for fish and chips not in fatimas fish and chip shop. old grey chips no taste and not hot or fresh dissappointed
surely any good marketing person can see a good chippy in a cleethorpes fun park would be a gold mine . Pleasure Island park very clean and tidy. Person on kids ride needed an enthusiasum injection as did others . should be able to go in at reduced rate if you do not want to ride anything

Pleasure Island is a nice little theme park in a very nice area. It has seven good white knuckle rides that I enjoy very much. It is smaller than most parks and in a way that is good. It has many family and children rides. It has audio music on Hyperblaster and Mini Mine Train which is very effective.

Pleasure Island was an OK park but would not say it was a full day out, unless you like going on same rides countless times.

★★★☆☆

written by sillynonsense on 12/04/2009

Pleasure Island is possibly one of the most underated theme parks in England, but one with a lot of potential. It needs a big injection of cash to update and revitalise the place, but whether it will get that is debatable, I would say unlikely having seen it decline over the years.

I remember going on the first day it opened and the place was heaving, now it looks neglected and unloved, except for the couple of purpose built rides that look startlingly new on the landscape (Pendulus/Alakazam). Just like the local football club, the owners of this park seem to think the answer to poor attendance figures is to keep putting prices up every year to bring in more cash.

On a more positive note, despite its faults I have always enjoyed myself at this park. It might not be the thrill seekers mecca, but it does have a little something for everyone. The thrill rides are well chosen and worth a visit on their own.

The park is reasonable, but really could do with TLC and some better attention from it's owner. It could work on theming as well, not to mention the amount of rides worth talking about. It has what, two rollercoasters? And both are off the shelf, one a miserable Vekoma mini mine train (Which strangely was treated to some custom audio!)
Potential is there, but work is needed.

I know some of the rides are good ie the Pengulus others are rubbish and this theme park is themed towards children.
[The Oblivator is a 360Degree ride that goes upside down as well.]
when you first go on the oblivator you have a head rest thing then a metal bar is locked in front of you and then another one is locked in front of you so you do not fall out. when the ride starts off you start buy going 360 degrees around and eventually you are lifted into the air then it goes upside down , when you are upside down it stays there for 30 seconds then it suddenly moves quickly and I banged my head, when i went on with my son he was screaming im going to fall out and everything it then repeats this process.
