Good Points: Compact, multi-functional, records straight to DVD.
Bad Points: Not the cheapest, DVD's can be expensive and hard to source (8cm as opposed to 12cm traditional)
General comments: The Sony DCR-DVD 91E is great. I love the fact it records straight to DVD, no messing with wires or transfer of digital data to other media. Needs 8cm DVD discs which although not readily available everywhere yet, I'm sure they soon will be as popularity grows. I got mine off eBay and from Jessops shops. The good thing is the camcorder is smaller than I expected it to be as it doesn't have a traditional 12cm DVD housing bolted on to it. Takes Sony Handycam 30 minute one-sided DVD-R discs or DVD-RW discs. The former are around £20 for 3 and the latter around £20 for 2. Obviously, the RW type are better as you can record over and over again, useful if you make mistakes. The camcorder itself is a technical marvel. I have had great fun practising recording people in black-and-white "silent movie" mode (juddery imaging like charlie chaplin waddling along). Lots of features like scene fades, sepia mode, night enhance mode. 2.5 inch LCD screen can be flipped 180 degrees so person you are recording can see themself. Battery charge lasts about 2 hours. Comes with lens cap but no bag to carry it all in. One free DVD-R disc included.
