The New Shanghai lays nestled very comfortably in a small, semi-sheltered parade just off the main Stansted drag. It has been there since the dawn of time, and remains an enduring favourite with a clientele, consisting largely of locals. But it is also frequented by people using the nearby Stansted Airport. I've been going to the The New Shang Hai Chinese restaurant for about ten years (not every day you understand). Back then is was called the Shang Hai Palace and was located upstairs. Now it's on the ground floor in Castle Walk, next to the Castle at the bottom of the village. I have travelled the world and am yet to encounter such loveley food (although I haven't been to China). Chinese New Year was excellent at The New Shang Hai restaurant in Stansted. They really made an effort. Plus there were several dishes that don't feature on the menu.
