Good Points: 4x usb
Bad Points: Charger, Batt life, Hard Drive, Touch pad, RAM, Over heating,
General comments: Had nothing but problems with the Acer TravelMate 244 from day 1, had to return 5 times and had to wait 2 weeks each time for repair. Different problem every time and customer service is hopelessly slow responding to faulty product and even try to avoind repairing products still on warranty. Hard drive replaced twice which I lost all of my work.
Charger is built cheeply and usually breaks down before 8 months as many of my work collegues had the same problems.

I used to have a Dell Latitude which was a bit long in the tooth and bought the Acer Travelmate 244 as a replacement in May 2004. Although price was a major factor I have found that for the price, this laptop has all the features you would need for home or small business use. If you want to play latest games this is not the machine for you. I don't play games so I don't need mega graphics but the graphics are more than adequate for presentations, playing dvd's etc. In my opinion you will go a lo ...

The Acer Travelmate 244 is a quality laptop at a budget price of £499.99 online £549.99 from comet stores ps/2 ports may have helped as touch pad is a little temperamental but 4 USB slots can be used instead. Good all round at a price you are not scared to carry about outside.
