Good Points: The staff at Watamu are fantastic and will do anything to help. the food is always very tasty and fresh.

Bad Points: You will be very sad to leave.

General comments: If you are going on holiday to Africa then this is the place to stay. The staff at the Watamu Beach Club are all fantastic and helpful. The food is great too.

Kenya is a wonderful country, however after staying at the Watamu Beach Club, we have never been happier to leave a holiday & return home. In my experience the African Safari Club is badly organised. I would not advise anyone to use them. I experienced total shambles & additional charges.

Experienced the Out of Africa 6 night Safari and stayed at Watamu Beach hotel for a further 6 nights.

Have been on 2 other Safaris before and this one was certainly the best.

The flights between game reserves gave us so much more time for game drives.

Organisation was slick and faultless. Would highly recommend to anyone considering booking with African Safari Club. Thanks to all the staff both in the Club office and out in Africa too.

Watamu Beach Club is a good hotel. Good food. Lovely local people. Bad roads. Lovely setting. Very good local guide (Raymond Kingi). Find him on the beach and book everything through him! I have a few problems with the way local people are treated when employed by big European companies there. If you go, take some things for the people (toys, clothes etc) but take them to a village away from the tourist areas. These people are much poorer than those around the hotels.

Went to Watamu with ASC in June 2005. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. The Beach Club hotel was fantastic and right on the beach. The food was very nice with a good choice to pick from. The rooms were basic but clean. The beach is fantastic and I have never met such friendly and open staff. We went on safari and stayed at the crocodile camp which was breathtaking. I would also recommend the Malindi river trip which is also amazing.
Watamu village is another great experience. The loca ...

We went on holiday to the Watamu Beach Club in Kenya, in August, and would highly recommend it to anyone! The hotel was clean, and the amenities were good. Because of previous reviews, we budgeted for food, even though we were all inclusive, but we were pleasantly surprised, as we didn't have to eat out once, as there was always something on the menu the children would eat. The entertainment on the whole was good (particularly the acrobats!). The service and helpfulness of the staff was excellen ...

We have just come back from a lovely holiday in Watamu Beach Hotel with AFC, The hotel is really nice, the rooms are a bit basic but clean, the night entertainment is limited and not great, but you can go to the come back club in the village which has shows on most weekend nights which are very entertaining, with only 100 schilings to get in (£1) and a beer 80 cents it is well worth it. The safari we booked with hotel was a bit of a disaster as our truck broke down about 11 times. AFC tell ...

I booked with African Safari Club AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO WITH THIS COMPANY. They first sent me to a different hotel to the one booked without informing me. I then had a two day struggle to be sent to Watamu and then to top it they said my safari trip was fully booked and sent me on a different one. Lots of other people on my flight had the same problem with the hotel and even more frightening some people had their safari trip cancelled altogether. What you book and what you get ...

Jambo - We have just returned home from a fantastic 3 week trip to Watamu. I intend to write to African Safari Club shortly to thank them for such a good holiday.

We had opted to upgrade our flights to Economy Plus for very little extra (£50) which was well worthwhile - this gave you choice of menus on the plane, free wine, beer and soft drinks, extra legroom but most importantly an additional 10kg of luggage allowance - which was very needed!

On arrival at Mombassa Airport after th ...

Watamu Beach Club - Kept running out of different drinks at least 4 times during the fortnight. Food wasn't good properly - all buffets covered with flies. Never covered. Ourselves and friends went down with vomiting and diahorrea -- of which I still have and am attending doctor. Will not be returning to hotel. African Safari Club would need to visit this hotel and get matters sorted. Pestered by hawkers while on the beach. They even followed us into water constantly wanting money. Not in ...
