“Me and 4 of my female friends (all aged 20) have just...”

Me and 4 of my female friends (all aged 20) have just come back from a week in Lloret de Mar. We stayed in the Hotel Olympic Park and after reading some reviews I was slightly dubious, but once there these doubts soon disappeared.

However, we arrived in the early hours of the morning to the night porters on reception and security guard who we found to be rude to us. We had 2 rooms and were put on totally different floors, so politely inquired whether it would be possible to change this, but the response was not so polite. However, the receptionists in the morning were very helpful and managed to change this for us straight away. The security guard proceeded to follow us up the stairs telling us to be quiet. We'd been travelling since 8pm and it was now 5 in the morning, we were hardly being rowdy, more like half asleep!!

Admittedly, most nights we did come in at 4/5 in the morning, but unlike most 20 year olds we were aware that there were other people in the hotel trying to sleep so we were as quiet as possible, but we felt we were being unfairly treated by the security guards, almost being tarred by the same brush!! However, it didn't help that the walls were really thin, so any slight noise was magnified. My advice to the hotel would be to put all young people on the same floor, all families on the same floor etc.

On a more positive note, the food was of a high standard. I don't eat red meat (only fish) and I always found something to eat. There was a variety of salads, soup, pasta, meats, cheeses and then the chef would cook something in the restaurant- i.e. paella, burgers, fajtas. It was similar in the morning with either a typical continental breakfast, or eggs, sausages and bacon. The waiting on staff were always very polite and would have a joke with you.

Housekeeping were always polite and very quick. When we checked out at 9:30am, we had left something in the room so went back 40mins later and they had already turned the room around for the next guests.

All the pools were great, plenty of room to sunbathe and the water wasn't too cold as some other reviews have mentioned. However, people did tend to go and put their towels down early in the morning to save a spot, which was prohibited, but people still tended to do it.

Something that we did notice as Brits was that there weren't many of us- mainly German and Dutch people. The first night we made friends with a group of lads from the hotel that were also British and we hung around together for the rest of the holiday, as we couldn't really associate with the rest of the guests.

Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and were impressed with the standard of the hotel. Our only regret is that we didn't stay for 2 weeks!!

“We have stayed twice in this hotel: once in Olympic...”

★★★★☆

written by drobke on 20/03/2008

We have stayed twice in this hotel: once in Olympic gardens (2 weeks in summer)(2002), once for 2 nights (2007) in summer period.
This hotel is in an attractive price area and still offers some big pluses compared to other hotels in the surrounding area
Everytime we were happily surprised by the pool area, which is quite large, and the average quality of the rooms and food.
Of course this is a big hotel, so the crowds and noises at the pool you should take into account, but that's almost everywhere at the Costa's. We like the food, which is above average quality for big hotels in Spain, choice is good, quality is nice and the overall atmosphere in the restaurant is vibrant. The second stay we booked upon arrival and had a family room, quiet location, no noise from other rooms, separate area for the bed and one with sofa's and TV, which is nice if you have small children, who go to bed early, as the areas can be closed off with a glass door. I really enjoy the location of the hotel, a nice walk takes you back and forth from the center, but you do not have the nightlife noises.
In general this is one of the few hotels across Spain that is in an attractive price range, and that I would recommend to everybody who wants to come to Llorett.

For the price we paid we have had a great week the hotel (Hotel Olympic Park) catered for our needs we are a 50 ish couple who wanted a bit of cheap sun. The pool area bars restaurant and rooms were very clean, the mattresses had to be paid for but what is 2 euros. The remote required a 20 eyro deposit but this was refunded on checkout. We kept our room on checkout day till 6pm for 30 euros, this made our holiday a day longer, We would definately return provided we could get a good deal We booked with easy jet holidays and for the two of us the same holiday with Thompson would have been and extra £400 considering we only paid £330 we were very impressed I am sure I would have been happy if we had paid in excess of £700

Stayed here for 2 weeks with four children, no-one in the children's club could speak good English, so children refused to attend. Restaurant staff practically clearing table even before you had finished your meal. Rooms basic nothing exciting. Walls very thin between rooms, was able to hear a full conversation going on two rooms away!! Wouldn t go back would rather try somewhere with a bit of life in it!

The hotel is excellent! We usually stay at 5 star hotels but the 4 star Hotel Olympic Park topped them all! We could not have had a better week, the hotel was extremely clean and tidy, friendly staff who were extremely helpful! Food was the best we had ever had, they offered a good selection for all! The pools were great, all 7 of them were kept at a high standard! This hotel should be a five star, great for all ages as I have 7 year old, a 14 year old and an 18 year old. We have already booked again for next summer and probably will keep visiting as long as our stay was as high a standard as our first trip! This is the place to go!

Olympic Park was a lovely big hotel with loads to do and in a great location with bars etc only a short walk away. I recommend the fountains in Barcelona for a trip if you go anywhere, it's beautiful.

I'm not sure what to write here but the hotel was amazing. It was very classy and posh but you could feel comfortable in it. There was air conditioning which was so refreshing. Coming in me and my family had races into the hotel after a long day shopping! I got along very well with the children entertainment staff and javi (17 year old lad who was very cute) was very friendly and took care of my little neice bless him! the food was also superb and there were computers for you to go on and indoor swiming pools.

I found this review helpful because the person who wrote it sounds lively, perceptive and generous-hearted and if someone like that was happy at the hotel, it must be a good place.

“LLoret De Mar, Hotel Olympic Park - Most amazing hotel...”

★★★★★

written by webstern on 30/06/2004

LLoret De Mar, Hotel Olympic Park - Most amazing hotel I have ever stayed in. A 4 star, most luxurious in resort. Situated in quiet area 800m from beach. Staff friendly. Choice of pools (7 in total). Never struggled finding a spot for sun lounger around the main lagoon pool. A bargain priced hotel for such luxury, definately recommended! Drinks at bar not cheap -- average 7 Euros for 2 soft drinks. Plenty to do in resort, many shops/bars/restaurants and I recommend Water World and a trip on a Catamaran offering a coastal tour of the Brava, chance for snorkling and BBQ in quiet cove. Day out to Barcelona not to be missed and, for the more adventurous, a couple of days to Universal Studios in Costa Dorada definitely worth doing! Had a fantastic holiday; however, 2 weeks was not enough. Too much to see and do! A highly rated resort and hotel.
