Really wish I had read reviews before I decided to purchase Dualit Kettle. Yes it leaks which they say is 'normal'. But, 18 months on, when we put the kettle on it knocks out the electricity in the rest of the house. Bought matching toaster at the same time which is also not working properly. I'll never buy Dualit again. (read more)

Kettle has stopped working 2 years after purchase, we are not big tea ,coffee drinkers so it was not subject to heavy use. The light was on but it no longer heated up, the element is in a sealed unit, so not replaceable. Kettle was bought to co-ordinate with toaster and coffee machine. I have contacted Dualit who do not accept that there is a problem, that they sell thousands of kettles and only have a few negative reviews. They have offered me 34% off a new kettle direct from... this kettle is so bad it leaks this is the second one as the first was replaceed as yes you guessed it it leaked spoke to Dualit no joy as out of warrenty for a kettle that now retails at £75.00 I am appalled that Dualit are still flogging them when so many people have had problems with them. Customer services at Dualit offered a 25% discount if I purchased another are they having a laugh?????? NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE (read more)

Bought Dualit toaster and kettle because of the reputation, Toaster had to have new timer within 1 year and now needs 1 new element, expensive kettle has lasted 2 years and has now died, was alawys noisey, always spilt water when pouring, looking back it was rubbish! I now believe Dualit design these but they are made abroad, just an expensive rip off, never again ! (read more)

I bought this kettle 18 months ago. Have bought an original Dualit toaster 15 years ago I expected this to be of the same standard but it seems that Dualit's manufacturing quality has gone massively down hill. Only 18 months after purchase and the heating element has failed. Having looked online it seems this is a common problem. I won't be buying Dualit products again. (read more)

My kettle is ten months old and it blew up this morning. I took it back with receipt to John Lewis Newcastle who refused to replace it under the guarantee. They have sent it back to Dualit saying that it is their policy. The store manager offered me a £20 kettle for £10 Which I refused. My advice is DO NOT BUY DUALIT AND DO NOT SHOP AT JOHN LEWIS. We bought our very expensive Dualit kettle in April 2011 and like other reviews here, it just stopped working yesterday, exactly 18 months since we bought it. The light comes on but no heating. The kettle is still like new but the element is sealed in and cannot be replaced. Probably lasted less time than the cheapest kettle we have ever bought. I intend contacting Dualit with this website address, and arguing 'not fit for purpose', and encourage others to do the same. (read more)

I bought this kettle 18 months ago and it went bang and caused the whole house electrics to go off, took it back to Fenwicks who told me that they could not help me as I had bought it over twelve months ago. I rang Dualit and they offered me 25% of a new one but would not purchase another kettle by Dualit. I expected better quality and have now purchased a Tefal kettle which is much easier to use as there is a button which lifts the lid and i had to prise oped my Dualit kettle to fill. also... We have now just binned our second Dualit kettle in two and a half years. Light is coming on but will not boil. In hindsight if I had done my research into this product I would not have bought it based on the poor reviews it has received. Bought this kettle just over a year ago. Working fine uptil then and all of a sudden stops working. Will not boil or anything. Just out of warranty so infuriating. I bought this expensive kettle and a matching expensive toaster. I wrongly assumed it was going to be a quality piece given the considerable expense of the items. First my toaster went up the swannie just out of guarentee then the jug kettle started leaking at the plastic window and poured water into the cordless base which caused havoc with my electrics. Dulit= Over priced cheap junk . I might as well have bought a cheap bottom of the range kettle and booked a weekend away with the... (read more)

This kettle has a design fault which makes the one year guarantee which they offer a bit of a joke. The plastic viewing windows are sealed with a rubber ring which starts to leak after you've boiled the kettle two to three times a day for 13 months. That way you can buy a new one just after the guarantee expires. I guess the differential expansion of plastic and steel coupled with build-up of small amounts of salts from boiling the water gives the kettle a 'natural life' which suits kettle... (read more)

I bought the stainless steel jug kettle because i already have a Dualit toaster- which has been bullitproof, and i was hoping the kettle would be the same. Unfortunately after two years light domestic use the element has failed and the kettle is useless as the element is a sealed unit. I thoroughly agree with all other negative comments. I must admit I bought this kettle because I thought it was stylish (foolish me) but like others it only lasted about 18 months then one week ago it fuesed my whole house sockets!! Looks like it won't be worth repairing it so I've replaced it with something which hopefully is much better (can't be any worse can it?) and certainly cheaper... I won't be buying Dualit again either. (read more)

I bought a Dualit jug kettle little over a year ago. Recently I noticed that there are areas on the handle which have developed fine hairline crazing. The plastic also seems to be disintegrating and disclouring here and around the lid. Contacted Dualit who didn't want to know as it was just out of the years warranty period. Apparently they don't expect their overpriced products to last much more than a year. I have heard other reviewers comment on this problem with the plastic on these... (read more)

Had this kettle for 3 years. Attracted by a quality name and the light blue colour. Not long after purchase the blue decor started chipping and eventually the knob cracked completely. Dualit - how could you - all faith gone now - another poor quality Chinese product no doubt! Barely 18 months and carted all the way back to the middle east from England and poof - suddenly light comes on but does not heat. Took it to a local repair shop who informed me that it is the coil which sits in the middle of the concealed element that is broken and it is irreparable.
I could not believe it - Dualit a name synonymous with hard wearing durability - not any more it seems.

We owned one of these kettles for three years. They are not cheap. The plastic viewing inserts cracked within 18 months. We live in a good water area, ie, very little limescale and eventually during boiling, water dripped onto the base plate and kept tripping the house electrics. Overpriced tat made in the Far East!
My kettle lasted just eighteen months before the element failed (which isn't replaceable) It seems their kettle's have a nasty habit of failing this way if you do a Google search.

Avoid DUALIT - very low durability, poor customer service & over-priced.
I invested £65 in this dualit kettle because I thought it was a good quality product that would last a long time. I would rate this kettle ZERO and also Dualit customer service ZERO
I returned the kettle to Dualit at my expense and was advised the element had broke and was unrepairable. I was offered 40% off a new one, only if bought direct from Dualit. Who would buy another rubbish Dualit product that has only been used in total for 10 months, certainly not me.
Iam now using my 10 year old £5. Asda kettle which is quieter than the Dualit kettle ever was.

Please be aware that these kettles can blow up. My kettle has now got a hole in the stainless steel lining near the elemnet caused by poor design. The resulting flash burnt the plastic base and the work surface immediately below it. I contacted dualit who offered a 25% reduction on a new one. I have reverted back an old Kenwood kettle. Dualit jug kettle 1.5 litre, was doing what you would expect from a kettle! That is until it started developing 'stress' cracks in the plastic windows with a slight dribble of water forming now and then. Dualit 72022 cordless kettle, so convenient. It stands on the stand well. Lid won't fall off (ours sticks on quite firmly, so much so that we fill it through the spout) which is a good thing. Ours hasn't given us any difficulties in the 3 years or so we've owned it. In short, it's no different to any other half decent kettle.
