I wanted to give this a good review as the inner is very comfortable, fits extremely well, I could breathe through it easily and the price was good. But... In all of Shock doctors' wisdom, they used hard plastic at the front of the guard with a nice sharp edge ensuring whenever you catch a light jab (and I mean light), the plastic cuts through your inner top lip. Terrible, terrible design especially considering the thickness of the guard! I'm considering filing mine down but I suspect that would affect the integrity of it, but it'll have to do until I find another guard worthy of vale tudo training! Avoid if you get punched a lot.

The first time i used this i found that mouth guard was quite thick and breathing wasn't easy during sparring. I got hit once on the face, straight punch, i have to say my position was a little low and the edge of this mouth guard just scratched my upper lip quite badly after this punch because of the thickness of the mouth guard. Later behind the upper lip it was super blue red and the skin peeled off a little after few days... Maybe i was just unlucky this time but after this sparring i never put it again in my mouth. I just made a custom mouth guard recently at the dentist it's really something else you can breath nicely and even speak you don't need to bite on the mouth guard to let it stable, it fit your teeth perfectly. Sorry doctor shock about the bad review but i'm certainly one on 100 to have experienced this...

Loose fit compare to dental gum shield and it costs alot of money.
