The first blender I bought was allegedly new, but had obviously already been used when I got it home and removed it from the box. Because it looked stylish and was a reputable make, I returned it and the shop issued me with a replacement. This proceeded to smoke and stop working, after only three attempts to make it to do nothing more than it was meant to. If I knew where Mr Breville lived, I would throw it through his window - it's good for nothing else. (read more)

I have had nothing but grief from my blender from the moment I started to use it I could smell the motor was struggling and the blade housing snapped while in ice mode which by the way cannot be replaced. Not a very good product for such an alleged reputable company (read more)

Breville is the sort of company that should be shut down by Law.To have a British company manufacturing this sort of junk in 2010 is very effective sabotage for any hope of economic recovery. To retail something at the cost of this blender,without spare parts must surely rank be considered a form of theft.
It's junk and I'll never touch another Breville product.

Unlike other reviewers, I think this Breville BL1 Classique blender is truly excellent. I've had mine for 10 years now and throw everything at it from raw veg to ice cubes and it just works. My only complaint is that after 10 years the blade body has broken and I cannot find any spares. (read more)

I dropped the glass jug of my Breville BL1 Classique and apparently can't get a replacement. So was thinking of buying a different jug as I have also had problems with the motor smoking if the contents is too tricky. To be honest I have never put anything harder than fruit and cooked veg in it. Will be trying a Phillips this time. (read more)

Smoke started coming from the base unit of this Breville Blender soon after bowl started to rotate. Now useless. Only bought it today! Don't know yet - will see if replacement any better ! (read more)

Do not buy a Breville BL1 blender if to use for food. Good for smoothies, but that's it! The motor broke blending rice pudding (not a hard substance) for my child. (read more)

Good all round blender - great design....No spare parts available........ it's only 5 - 6 years old, but parts are listed as obsolete. Whatever happened with recycling stuff, keeping it going, being economical etc....shame on you Breville.... great blender, great design, but the blades have gone and now I've got to chuck away an otherwise perfectly good machine. This is domestic appliance culture functioning as it were a throwaway cigarette lighter...See above..... really annoyed ! (read more)
