I've only had this Sagem MYV-55 phone a few days, and already love it. It looks good, which is a high selling point nowadays. It isn't a brick either, it has a nice slim size, which makes it confortable to use. The layout of the keypad and the overall ergonomic design gives it a modern look, making it all the more appealing. Great camera for everyday general use, as well as a lot of memory to store those photos. Plenty of space for contacts, pictures, sounds and more. Comes with a vast... (read more)

I have had this phone, the Sagem MYV-55 since Christmas 2004 and I have not had a single fault with it. It never freezes, breaks or nothing. The only point I would say bad is the camera. Its okay if your not wanting good quality from it. I am going to be buying a new phone within the next few weeks but the only reason is because of the camera. (read more)

If it was reworked by Sagem, with a good camera, MP3, internet, then it could chart to the top again.
The handset is an excellent one, don't change it.
Looks and feels great.
I loved this phone, I wish I still had it

Overall, the Sagem MYV-55 mobile phone is excellent value for money, and two of my friends have them on the Vodafone network.
The screen doesn't look like a 64,000 screen because the quality of it is brilliant.
The camera takes fine photos, but they sometimes take about 10 seconds to save.
It's well worth it for £40.00. Please feel free to leave a comment on my review.

I've had my Sagem MYV-55 mobile phone for nearly 2 years, and every so often it freezes up and you have to take the battery off to unfreeze it.
The sound recording is good, but the recording sound time is only 30 seconds, so it needs to be a bit more. The camera can be good, but you can't move it too quickly after taking a picture because it blurs.

People have raved about how great the camera is on the Sagem MYV-55 but you don't realise just how poor the quality is until you transfer the pictures onto a pc. They are just fine when viewed on the mobile but that is what they were specifically designed for. If you intend to transfer, set the photo format to high resolution to give a larger image suitable for viewing on a pc. You will, however, find that a high level of light is needed.
Many people have had trouble with data transfer...

Although the picture quality appears to be good when viewed on the mobile, once you have downloaded them onto your computer the results are quite poor.
<br>I am unsure as to whether it is the low grade lens which is to blame or the slow shutter speed which causes blurring even when in the high resolution mode.
<br>High levels of lighting are needed to get a bright picture but they are still blurred.
<br>No amount of photo editing can improve them.

The Sagem MYV-55 is good because it's a very good price good camera, has changeable covers and is great for kids age 10-19. The connectivity (on the side of the phone) Is very handy because you don't have to pay for sending and receiving music and photos to other Sagem phones. The mobile can only have the sound loud or silent unless you spend a long time looking for how to turn it down. (read more)

For heavens sake do not let your battery run out completely, I made that mistake.
The Sagem MYV-55 phone switched off as I had run out of battery so I plugged it in to the charger after a few hours the screen said that the battery was charged so I unplugged the charger the screen said switching off, which I didn't mind as it was in the evening and this is a work phone. I took the phone to work in the morning and realised that it was still switched off, I pushed the on button and nothing...

I have purchased the Sagem My V55 and I think the value for money is excellent. The camera is of good quality and the zoom is a great feature. The voice recorder is loud and clear and can be used for your ringtones. The ringtones are loud enough to be heard in noisy situations and the vibration is strong. Sagem has produced a much more functional phone than their previous Sagem My X6, which makes it an easy mobile to use. The games have good graphics and are good for passing time. The phone... Wicked phone only had it a couple of weeks and chuffed with it, it has a lot of things dearer phones don't have. If someone was looking for a reliable colour/camera phone i would advise this, i realy do rate it.
There are many dearer phones than the sagem MYV-55. But what is the point when you can get a really good camera phone with loads of added extras. This phone only sells in the shops for about £100. I give it a 10 out of 10 (definitely!).

camera appears to be fine when viewing pisc on the phone. If you intend to view them by transfer to pc then forget it. The camera is pretty naff, pictures appear slightly blurred and the zoom only helps to increase the size of the dots with no improvement in the picture, in fact all you see are big dots and no distinguishable image!

"On day 2 the phone started to freeze it happened 4 times in 1 day."
<br>
<br>I thought mine had frozen as you describe and took the battery out like yourself BUT having read the manual realised that once the phone goes into standby mode (with digital clock showing) you need to press the "ON" button once. This seems to be another form of key lock.
<br>The keys are a little small but the outer keys are contoured and with the inner keys flat it soon becomes easy to use.
<br>Think you are being a little unfair regarding the ringtones this is all down to personnal preference. And with the record function WHY complain about ringtones when you can record whatever you want?
Written on: 03/08/2004
With regard to pressing the on button to unlock the phone this had nothing to do with the phone freezing, no matter what buttons were pressed it still wouldn't unlock and has frozen plenty of times since. The phone is just not consistent it seems to have a mind of it's own, what about the time delay when pressing buttons. I have asked other people that have the same phone about the problems I have experienced and most of them have the same complaints. As for ringtones if you like having a baby crying a boathorn or a cow noise as a tone well then I guess your right it is personnel preference. As for recording a ringtone it ain't good quality at all, and you can hear the stop button being pressed as you end the recording.

What about power on and power off settings. It seems to have nothing, which means you have to switch it on and off manually. That is appalling.

I think you're being very harsh on this phone. It's not very expensive which suggests what?? Yes, it's not up 2 the standards of the Nokias. I just got this phone after having a Nokia 7250i, the camera is 10x better than the Nokia's, it hasn't frozen on me and I honestly think it is a better phone. The only thing I would fault it on is the battery life. It's a nice looking phone and I'd give it at least 9/10.

I think that you must have a faulty phone. I was given mine at Christmas time. None of your problems. I left in standby for a week, and it still had two bars of battery left. I found ring tones that suit me, and best of all it has worked in every country that I have visited since, including Sout America. I bought an USB connector, but can't get my phone book, or anything else to download onto the computer, so not everything is perfect. Can anyone tell me how to do the latter?
Written on: 19/08/2005
i think your phone is just faulty, send it back and replace it and if your still not happy all i can say is you should of read reviews and asked people about the phone before you got it and as you can got it not from as little as £50 i think it is very good vaule.

The new Vodafone MYV-55 is an amazing phone and has an excellent camera easy to use menu and looks and feels brilliant. Its camera is of a very good quality although there is no protection to its lens. This Sagem MYV-55 is a new mobile phone by Sagem specifically for the Vodafone market.
It would seem to be an up-market version of the myv-65 with a much more modern look and java or maybe a down market version of the myx-7 with the only major difference being it does not have video.
The phone has most of the necessary features seen in all the newer mobiles but at a very keen price, £80 at Vodafone complete with payt sim card.
The look of the phone is very modern with a nice key pad which...

Hi there,
<br>I have seen the Sagem MyV-55 recently and was very impressed by the functionality in combination with the prize.
<br>
<br>Jsut one comment: On sites for ringtones, logos, wallpapers and games the Sagem brand is never mentioned.
<br>Does this mean Sagem owner will not be able to download ringtones etc?
<br>
<br>cheers
<br>Marcus
Written on: 13/07/2004
Marcus - the Sagem has RECORD function which enables you to record any ringtone you can hear :). Data cables and software are available, which allow you to download logos, wallpaper and screensavers (same data cable as myX-7, MYx-6, myV-6).
<br>I have found the only way to get photo's from the mobile to the pc is via a IrDA plug-in (USB type cheaply found on e-bay),which work very well once set up correctly,(set to 19200 maximum connection speed)I would go for one of these rather than the cable, as the IrDA can do all the cable can and more.
Games do seem to be a problem. I haven't found a way of getting new games onto the phone apart from downloading from Vodafone Live, most Java games seem to be set for Nokia Phones, but I'm sure this will change in the future.
Have noticed on the Vodafone web site the price has gone up to £100, still not a bad deal really.

Hi there,
<br>I have finally managed to find some time to purchase the MYV-55 and I am happy with my decision. only one thing. I noticed some comments here about Freezing and Stand By. Is there any chance to change the time when the phone goes into Stand By Mode. Mine is swiching into Standby after 15 seconds. If I set up a screensaver (Aqua is pretty nice) I can only see it for a short second before the Stand By mode goes on.
<br>Your feedback is much appreciated.
<br>
<br>Kind regards
<br>Marcus

Hello Marcus,
<br>Unfortunately I don't think you can alter the timing on the phone via the menus, and yes mine goes into lights out mode pretty quick, which is a shame as my rather rude s/saver doesn't get long enough to brighten my day.
<br>This must be to do with battery longtivity, which on my MYV-55 has improved tremendously since the first few charges, so perhaps it ain't such a bad thing.
<br>As far as the phone locking up and being un responsive to key presses (as some other reviewer has said) I have not experienced any of these problems at all.
Written on: 01/09/2004
So far I have not experienced any issues myself.
<br>I had written to Sagem Support and they got back to me saying that the Standby mode cannot be altered on the phone. But if it's for the long life of the battery .... we should be happy enough.
<br>
<br>cheers

We bought this phone for one of our kids and I have read you can send picciess via the picture messaging, but can you send photo's as well, if so, how?
Written on: 12/01/2005
Hi there,
<br>You can send your photos as well. When starting a new text you need to select MMS instead of SMS, then go to Options and select Insert. From here you can insert Comments, Sounds, Pictures, Symbols, Calendar Entries.
<br>But - the reciepients phone bust be able to receive those.
<br>And as far as I know the MMS are a bit more expensive than the normal SMS.
<br>
<br>I hope this helps.

Hi there,
<br>I have the MYV-55 for now about a year and since last week the battery is going flat every 2 days.
<br>The phone is just out of warranty. A work mate had the same problem and she changed back to Nokia. I do like Sagem and I am wondering if more people have the same issue.
<br>Vodafone is not offering the MYV-56 for only 9 Euro (as upgrade) and I am tempted to get this one.
<br>Any other opinions?

<br>thank you - Marcus
