    We purchased this machine (Maytag Neptune Top Load) less than five years ago. Service person gave us a $747.00 estimate to replace bearing assembly and seal assembly. This is the worst washing machine we have ever owned...we will NEVER purchase another Maytag appliance again. Is there anyone you can contact to get some satisfaction? The service person told us they actually quit making this machine 3 years ago because of all the problems.

    I kept blaming my wife for out towells smelling sour. This washer absolutely sucks. Now its leaking. We constantly have to clean the mold out and it doesn't get our clothes clean.

    I purchased this Maytag TL in 2004 after replacing my front loader Maytag Neptune, that lasted only 3 years. Both have been a waste of money. My TL machine, outer tub, bearings, cluth, control board, and water pump must be replaced. Who has over 900.00 dollars to spend on a almost 5 year old washer machine. I have been looking at the new maytag 950 model, cannot decide between this one and the GE 6800, both front loaders. If I decide to purchase another Maytag, I will ask for free warranty ...

    I purchased the Neptune set (washer and dryer) for close to $2,000, thinking that I was purchasing two quality machines. My old $250 Kenmore was much better and lasted over 15 years!!

    The Neptune washer has had similar problems as the others have stated (clothes are not coming clean, the towels have a sour odor and t-shirts stink after wearing them only an hour or so)!!

    This is the absolute worst appliance I've ever owned! We've had no end of problems with it. It refuses to spin most of the time (unbalanced load), twists the clothes up into knots, and leaves them smelling of mold/mildew. Now the pump has failed and we're having to wait for Sears to come out (thankfully under extended warranty) to replace it. After getting this thing fixed I'm going to see if I can get a few bucks for it and buy a different machine. I'm NEVER buying another Maytag appliance ...

    Owned this Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW for 5 years, and have had cleaning issues for the past year with it, and it finally quit working altogether. Repairman came out and said it would cost $1400 to repair. I can't believe that this Maytag high end washer would only have a 5 yr life cycle. I will never purchase another Maytag again.

    We purchased our Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Top Load in Oct, 2004 with a 4-year warranty.

    The dc light keeps coming on and after a screeching sound last night, I opened the washer and smoke was pouring out!

    The repairman said that the clutch, flange, outer tub with bearing and belt need to be replaced and it would have to be done in the shop.

    The price $600-700!! He said that I should just buy something new because these have a LOT of problems!

    Isn't that terrible to spend over $1000 on somet ...

    I purchased this Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Top Load machine 4 years ago. It died completely 5 days ago. It has been the worst washing machine I have ever owned. The tub gets smelly (and I clean it regularly), it doesn't spin correctly, it leaks and leaks and it is very hard on clothing.
    Just purchased an LG, will never buy a Maytag product again because of this. Their customer service is horrific! They are expensive pieces of garbage.

    parts are not avail for purchase> maytag has not manufactured the wiring harness I have been waiting 6 weeks with a delivery date of june 17 2009 which is tomorrow however i was informed by maytag it is not manufactured yet and they have no idea when it will be. I was actually told months maybe. the neptune top load is an expensive machine to only last 4 years.

    Have Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Front loader washing machine and dryer. Washer machine is a nightmare since I bought it. It is a bad product, always an issue with smell, spin cycle not rinsing. Constant problems, paid way too much for this junk.

    The Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Top Load washing machine is HORRIBLE!!!!!! My clothes constantly come out with black speckles all over them. This washer leaves my whole basement smelling like mold!!! Have had repair man out numerous times for same problems.

    I purchased a maytag neptune tl washer/ dryer 5 years ago. I thought that paying 2,000 for a set i would get what i paid for. Was I wrong. from the begining the the clothes came out completly twisted and wrinkled. then the smelly mold around the edges started, and the clothes didnt seem very clean for washing for over an hour. now it wont spin it stops with a error at 12 min left. after reading this its seems this is a pretty comon complaint. so i had a repair man out today . he says that the ...

    I bought 2 of these washers for my apartment building. What pieces of junk! They are a maintenance nightmare. These pieces of junk will make me never buy anything Maytag again.

    Replaced clutch on the Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Top Load four times and the lid locks too. Motor and belts you think would work but no.

    I believe that for the price I paid I should have received a more reliable machine. It has recently started to have a very strange odour and I also noticed my clothes are not coming out very clean, even when I rewash the load!
    Spin on the Maytag Neptune FAV6800AWW Top Load is unpredictable. I've had the repair man over 4 times now and no results. From reading the other complaints I'm sorry to hear I would have to replace it with yet another MAYTAG if I go that route. At least for me it laste ...
