Ordered table and chairs 2/2/2013 was told 9 weeks, but probably before, now 15 weeks later no sight of table. I ring customer services who are about as helpful as a chocolate teapot!! Ordered 4 dining chairs from Harveys, was told a 4 week delivery which was acceptable, we were actually pleased when a week later we were called to say they were ready and arranged a delivery day, we would get a call 1 hour before delivery was made. “Slow boat from China”

Ordered 2 sofas and a chair from Harveys in the sales on the 5th January 2013,was told 14 weeks approx. 16 weeks later goods were delivered by which time I was fed up with the waiting. The shop staff were pleasant the delivery guys also nice, the sofas are solid and comfy and the chair well upholstered, I dont think they will last like our previous suite but they were reasonably priced, would not have payed the inflated price they show before the sales. Ordered 2&3 seater settees in white 12 wks ago arrived 8/5/13 only changed from shop white to cream phoned Harveys who sent a guy with a swatch with 3 whites all varying shades and said it was in the parameters of a variation of white.If this is white then dark cream does not exist how a firm can sell this as white is beyond belief be very careful when going to Harveys as what you order is not what you get and they could not care less.Very dissatisfied customer.Had to put one star as minus... “Totally unhelpful and useless once the sale has been made.”

They do not confirm they are coming until a day before. This leaves no time to organise help with moving your old furniture - unless you want to run the risk of sitting on the floor should they then decide to cancel. The delivery men made no effort to help and watched as my 75 year old father helped me. It's a pretty cheap company that cannot insure it's employees for doing this basic level of service. I ordered the Melissa 2 & 3 seater and the storage box on 25/12/12 online, I was advised it was an approx 11 weeks delivery from 7/1/13, I emailed Harvey's 11 weeks later to be told it would be up to 14 weeks, I waited till after the 14 week time scale and I emailed them again, to be told that my delivery was due in there distribution centre on 6/5/13 (bank holiday Monday) which was 17 weeks from 7/1/13, I checked online on 9/5/13 and my order has finally gone into there distribution centre... As a former employee who worked for them for over 15 years ,Harveys demise was when they nearly went bust in 2005 they were bailed out by a company called Steinhoff one of the worlds biggest furniture manufacturers 90% of the product they sell is made by Steinhoff .
Which is a poor quality product imported from around the world .
The way the company is now run is geared to be cost effective regardless of the impact on the customer.
Deliveries arranged by call centres and customer service dealt with by a call centre in the midlands the stores and staff are not allowed to get involved and are threatened with disciplinary action if they do.
The problem is the staff in store have their hands tied and as i put in a letter when i left Harveys not only treat customers with contempt but the staff as well.
That is why a lot of the experienced long serving staff have left rather than work for this shambolic company
My role as assistant manager when i started was to deal with customer service when Steinhoff took over i was left in no doubt that my job was only to sell and not to deal with customer service.
hope this explains how this company is now ran.
p.s Your best course of action is to write a letter to managing director by recorded delivery it will be prioritised or ask to speak to an area manager.

“DO NOT BUY FROM HARVEY'S !!! DREADFUL”

I've placed my order online on 29th Jan, paid in full and told approx.14 weeks for delivery. Just how a single 3 seater sofa can take 4 months to be delivered, is ghastly in this day and age! I haven't heard a peep from Harvey's in this time and after such a depressing wait for contact for delivery I am intent on cancelling my order and getting a full refund. I've discarded my old sofa thinking I wouldn't be waiting over four months for my new one to be delivered... How wrong could one be!... (read more)

We had to wait 14wks for a 3 and 2 seater sofa delivering.Almost on the last day I was phoned and told it would be another 4wks before delivery. WE took delivery yesterday teatime !4-5-13. There is a mark on one sofa arm and I have been trying to contact the store by phone since 9am this morning until now 11am and can't get through. I found this site trying to find a email address for Harveys.
My advice is shop elsewhere i have bought several things from Harveys but this is the last

Absolutely terrible quality item. Waited 17 weeks for delivery turned up with missing legs (three seater) and ripe in lining of two seater. Contacted customer services who after 8 attempts (20min average per call). Agreed to take the item back eventually, awaiting phone call!!!! We bought 3 seater red leather sofa for 600£, ordered from Coventry store delivering to Plymouth. (need to wait 12 week but we were ok with that at least we could get a perfect sofa and get high quality service). Unfortunately they didn't meet our expectations. From the start Harveys seemed really good, but after receiving poor quality furniture, our troubles began. Harveys have stores and a main office. Talk to the store, they say talk to the main office. You ring the main office, they say talk to the store. You're stuck between the two. In the end we had to fight for a refund, and got it only by shouting down the phone and demanding we speak to a manager. Is this the only way of dealing with them? “Broken sofas”

We brought a sofa suite and was sold the warranty to go with it for £125. We were told at the time it was covered for structural damage so we went ahead and brought 5 years cover. 4 years on the spring has broken and can be felt when sitting on the seat also one the recliner chairs is no long opening. Well, we've ordered 3 seater sofa on 18th January, approx. waiting time 12 weeks. I just called them and was informed that the sofas are due to arrive at the warehouse around 15th of this month, yet 2 weeks ago we were told that we would be contacted very soon as our order is being now processed!!! that's way longer then 12 weeks! I paid a deposit for a 3 piece suite and dining table I was quoted £2285, I payed £300 deposit and left with a balance and invoice for £1985, I later received a phone call from the sales person that they had made a mistake and I now owed £2435. We ordered a lounge suite from Harvey's on 20 January 2013. Every time we ask when it will be delivered, we receive a later date. The latest expected delivery date is now is now 27 May. I ordered the Oberon sofa 3and 2 seater in early Jan from Exeter store and was advised up to 10 week wait ...well it's now 15 weeks and still no date for delivery, numerous phone calls and emails to customer service ,but going around in circles..I would NEVER have ordered this suite if I'd known how bad there customer service was..what's even more annoying is that it's available for express delivery of approx 2 weeks if you order it online...NEVER again Harveys and of course I've spread the word !!!

We bought a senator corner suite in the end of year sale and after waiting, and waiting was finally (almost) delivered today - 4 months later!! The suite is delivered in sections and the men were clearly in a rush. Purchased 2 sofas from Harvey's in December 2011, which were faulty from day one. There are holes in the fabric, the seams keep coming apart, the recliners don't work properly and one seat almost collapsed as a large piece of wood underneath was not attached in the right place. we purchased a 3 piece suite from Harvey's, first mistake. The colour came off of the leather. I sent in a claims form which went missing, I sent a second by recorded delivery and surprise surprise it arrived. A technician was sent out who put the colour loss down to body fluids, I would suggest that he be a very clever man as he did not take any samples to reach this conclusion. He would be good on CSI. “Aggresive delivery drivers, liers,never again!”

This is on behalf of my 80 year aunt, who has just moved house and ordered a chair & sofa from Harveys. First attempted delivery on the day of her move went to her old house rather than her new one, despite her ringing to change the address. The delivery went back to the warehouse. Got confirmation, including a text the night before - had to take a day off work to be in for delivery. 10 past 9 friday morning I got a call saying it wasn't going to be delivered. I complained but was told there was nothing that could be done and was told the next delivery day was Easter saturday. They take a large deposit, then keep it for weeks. We then have to pay in full before delivery. They probably make nearly as much banking our money as they make selling furniture.

I too had this problem with a Barone dining table and chairs which was ordered on the 7th january 2013 and was finaly delivered 11 weeks later. After the first meal a day later i went to move the talble as you do to clean under it after my children had eaten and i heard a loud crack. I looked under the table i found the wood connecting the leg to the table had split. This is after the delivery people had put it together. I have now waited 2 weeks for an assessor to come out and look at it. I am considering asking for a refund after three months without a dining room table. I would not recomend harverys to anyone after the poor customer care.

I ordered a wessex dining table at the end of October with 6 chairs and looked great but what a joke. I clean the table with a damp sponge and wipe with a tissue and the table is forming a bubble underneath the wood ( a design fault or stored in a damp area before it was delivered maybe). I've had the same purchased a sofa on 02nd January, confirmed in store delivery would be with 6 to 8 weeks, 14 weeks later still not arrived, 7 phone calls made to their customer service dept and each and everyone has had the same cant be bothered attitude, as you say when you pay for goods you expect to have them within the time frame quoted. Sofa arrived at the warehouse yesterday, however I have to wait a further 2 weeks for delivery, so the 6-8 weeks quotation is actaul 16 weeks. I for one will never be purchasing from Harveys again, along with my family & freinds, and have made all aware on Facebook what a terrible service they offer.

In the same position, was expecting my table 7 weeks after order, 14 weeks and the ladies in the store said it would be in the warehouse on the 12th. Somehow i doubt it, but after reading your experiences, i'm not sure when it will come.

I'm tempted not to ask about my sofa!

I ordered two sofas on 29th of December 2012 i was told 8 weeks delivery i am still waiting,when you ring customer service they tell you they don,t know when your furniture will be delivered and you will have to wait this company should not give customers false hope they have took the pleasure out of buying new furniture i will be asking for my money back soon (read more)

“dont shop at harveys”

Bought a settee at Harveys a couple of yeaago. Less than a year later splits appeared on two of the seat cushions. I complained and after inspection it was agreed to replace them, no arguments, in fact one comment was 'seen that before'. Several weeks later the replacement took place. “Sofa beds x 2 repaired twice ”

2 Maine sofa beds Ordered 11 March 2012 but when used as sofa bed for 1st time the 3 seater would not fold away upon checking 2 seater this was same. Eventaully after waiting 20 weeks they were repaired only to break again with in a few weeks. Now they have repaired the 2 seater but ordered the wrong mechanisim for the 3 seater and have now eventaully agreed to a reund almost 1 year later. It didn't start eight from the very biginning and I guess it is partially my fault that I still went ahead with my order. Will never buy anything from them again, I am so disappointed!!! We went into the store about 40 min before their closing time on a Saturday. Ordered coffee table and lamp table from wallsend store they sent a text saying delivery was going to be sat beg. After purchasing furniture from this company, and arranging a delivery date, we were very dissapointed to find out that only half of our order would be delivered as arranged. We ordered are furniture with the Cribbs Causeway branch over 8 weeks ago. We were promises delivery within 6-8 weeks, now after 8 weeks we find out it will be at least another two weeks.
