In 2002 I was selected to be a volunteer driver at the Manchester Commomwealth Games. This meant I would be based in the athletes village. It suddenly stuck me that there would be very limited opportunities to smoke in that location! I had wanted to stop so this was a real motivation. A friend had used Alan Carr's book and stopped and recommended it. I bought the book, followed the advice and got myself ready. On the 25th of June 2002 I went to the place I had had my FIRST cigarette, (at the age...

I had serious doubts about the book. I friend had read it 10 years prior and always said, "Just read the book". I read the same book and completed it 2 days ago. I was 20 to 30 a day 12 year smoking veteran. From yesterday I'm a ex smoking believer. I had tried numerous times to give up smoking within the past 4 years. I tried the gum, the spray, etc. If only I "JUST READ THE BOOK". Allen makes so clear and so simply easy to stop. I can now see why he has a 90% success rate. If you want to give...

I suppose I had a decent headstart because I was totally ready to quit and have managed to quit very easily in the past but it wasn't like this time. This time I'm 100% certain I will never touch a cigarette again - In my review on my blog I added something which helped me loads. I chain smoked my last four cigarettes to leave a very unpleasant lasting memory. They made me feel pretty ill. Definitely a good idea I found....

I have to say I have had this book now for almost a whole year. It sat under my ashtray of all places. Every night I would look at the inside cover and be petrified of what it said. Stop Smoking without withdrawl and non of the horrific side effects. Yes that made me scared. 2 nights ago I decided to take the chance and read the book. Why should I be scared of a book, that will ultimately help me? Well I read the book and now I know why. I finished the book after 5 hours of straight reading, I smoked...

My partner and I had wanted to quit smoking for about a year before we got this book. One of my mates at work swore by it. He said that you'd keep smoking while reading it, but by the end you wouldn't touch another cigarette ever again! We felt that was a big claim, and probably worked for some but not everyone. I have to say, this book really changed our lives! After talking and talking about quitting, we both thought we'd never do it. We didn't want to surround our children with harmful smoke,...

I got the book on the 16th April and quit on the 17th April. I had smoked heavily for over 20 years. EVERYONE has said they didn't think I would last 3 days let alone 4 weeks and 4 days (as of today). I can't see myself EVER smoking again. I don't know how the book helped and I don't care! IT JUST DID. I bought a second hand copy for just over £2.00 and have saved over £200 since. GET THE BOOK IF U WANT TO STOP SMOKING....

I've ready this book three times now, each time in the hope of miraculously not wanting/needing to smoke when I got to the end. And it has never worked for more than a few hours for me. I never had that "a-hah" moment while I was reading, and although it all made sense, it was never powerful enough for me to quit. I have since started on the medication Champix, and have quit for over two weeks now and everything's going well. This book is definitely work a try because it does work for a...

I had tried many other methods of quitting. None lasted. I just celebrated 4 years smoke-free and it only took me the two weeks I spent reading Allen Carr's guide for quitting smoking for women. My husband had just left after 32 years. I picked up the book because I felt isolated by my smoking. The book just resonated with my desire to change my life...so, yes, I was motivated. But I had always looked at smoking as my "stress-reliever". Nothing is more stressful than a divorce you don't want yet...

I've been smoking since I was eleven and I'm now twenty. Last year I really wanted to quit for all the usual reasons (money, bad cough, bad smell, yellowing teeth). I used the patches and lasted a few days before I gave in and had a cigarette. I had decided over the Christmas period that I wanted to give up sometime in the New Year. I went to the library (I didn't even buy the book!) and got Allen Carrs The Easy Way To Quit book. I'm still reading it, but I finished my last packet of cigarettes...

Absolutely amazing book!!! I finished reading it two weeks ago and haven't been tempted to have a cigarette since. I really used to believe that I enjoyed smoking, and that socialising and having a few drinks would not be enjoyable without a cigarette in my hand, I thought smoking relaxed me and gave me something to look forward to, and I even feared that somehow life wouldn't be complete without my cigs. You're doing yourself a disservice if you choose not to read this. If you smoke 2 cigarettes a month, only while drinking, you should still read it, why not right? This book is common sense based. Maybe that's what makes it incredible ... I read it, I stopped smoking and I am sorry I haven't discovered it or thought this way earlier! I feel free :) As for most friends/relatives/people I know - they don't seem to believe me and I don't know how to convince them to read it :( Some even started reading it and stopped half way - beig afraid that they will quit forever! This is paradoxical - considering the fact that all of them want to quit ......

The book "Easyway to Stop Smoking" stopped me smoking- there is no doubt. I have several friends who had used it and suggested I should try it but I never quite believed it until I read it(which was actually 12 months or more after I bought it). The book was very easy to read; although I realised I was being told things I already knew, I didn't feel it was trying to make me feel stupid for smoking when I knew how bad it was for me. There was plenty of humour in the way it was written to get me hooked...

The idea that reading a book barely an inch thick would help me quit smoking after almost 30 years of the habit was ludicrous to me. I'd tried patches, gum, hypnosis ... how could I quit doing something I enjoyed doing so much? I heard about Allen Carr's "The Easy Way to Quit Smoking" on the radio. A comedian (whose name I cannot recall) was touting its effectiveness with his own habit. So I bought it. I mean, what's 12 or 13 dollars compared to a carton of cigarettes, right? It laid next to my...

I owe Allen Carr the last 2 fabulous smoke-free years of my life and the next 20 I hope, if my lungs recover. The Easyway method worked after 17 years of heavy smoking where thousands of pounds spent in Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Gums, Pills, Willpower books and Hypnotherapy failed miserably. When I finished the Easyway book, I felt relieved, happy and convinced this was the end of my nicotine addiction, but I couldn't get around to completely stop. I then booked a group session at my...

Gotta admit, I was a skeptic. How would reading a book help me kick the habit? And, to boot, I smoked because I WANTED to smoke, because I enjoyed it! I wasn't even sure I wanted to quit, but was feeling pressure from family and friends.... It took me a bit to get used to Carr's writing style, and the first few chapters are sort of a hard read. But quarter of the way through the book, I was hooked. You mean I *DON'T* really enjoy smoking? Wow. This book changed my life - smoke free since...
