What has happened to this once great program. Ridiculous plots and awful acting. Gemma the Bailey family and this new guy Jack Carroll to name but a few except now Fizz is back as well. It appears the youngsters are taking over but at least they can act. Now we have this ridiculous plot that Roy is a murderer, please dont let it go on as long as the Stephen plot.

Just awful. What are the scriptwriters doing? Corrie used to intersperse heavy storylines with humerous scenes. Now too many depressing storylines. How can you have, the bullying story; the gambling; story; the MND story along with Gemma's depression;the Carla, Peter story; the Lauren story all in one episode?. It's finished me off I can tell you. Watched Corrie for years and years and worked for Granada,YTV and then Itv all my working life and never seen anything like it. Needs a drastic rethink

It really is boring, with a capital B.The bully boy Mason must get his come-uppence soon, big time.No more kids please, get back to some old style Corrie. I turned the sound down when Gemma started whinging, she does my head in.I have one request,it's an old one,can the actors please stop talking and eating at the same time, that and shouting, they don't have to do either to prove they can act thank goodness Les Battersby's gone.

I agree - too many children and youngsters - why? Noone can tell me that children and young people of the age portrayed actually watch CS. Even some of the long term actors are given scripts to reduce them to ridicule. Also there is a general lack of continuity compared with the classic episodes - sometimes a few weeks go by and then we return to a storyline.

... and to make matters even worse, there's another family member in the family of the worst actors that shouldn't have been created in the first place. The only two decent actors were the younger footballer son who unfortunately left early and now mother on a rather long absence. Father and brother were going to build houses but don't actually work; elder son is such a cringe actor and now we have to put up with OTT grandfather even longer. Who looks after the baby who would be too young to have that essential playhouse and interesting how Corrie seems to magic up bedrooms from nowhere.

Dreadful episode on 17 November. Clearly the director wishes they were really working in film and has no concept of TV or Coronation Street. Weird angles, daft moving from one scene to another through water running out of taps etc. You have missed the whole point of the programme. No thank you. You go back to the day job in film. We will go back to the directors of the past who knew what they were doing and kept us entertained.

Just watched on youtube about Ena Sharples and Elsie Tanner from the 60s/70s. I am of an age to say that episodes at that time did reflect real life in a back street. Fast forward 2023 and it is not just make belief but it is really utter rubbish.

Totally agree with you Trolleybus654. Unfortunately, faster paced lives and changes in society have demanded that plots keep up with what's happening today. In true Corrie style, writers are juggling ( struggling??) to remain relevant to some viewers, and informative to others. The early days focused on the steady and true characters and not the increasingly absurd and frankly, in such a small section of street, utterly crazy plots which characters are involved in. Thank goodness for YouTube...
Written on: 25/11/2023
The plots are fine and of course need to change but that is not my comment. The style of directing does not need to be more suitable for the big screen. The whole point of the programme is to be suitable for the small screen. Shame current directors are not happy with that.

This is complete rubbish, Peter clearly did not know what Steven had said to Jenny he thought he was taking her hostage.Peter reacted to the situation that’s all.Steven is a serial killer has lied and cheated everyone , dangerous man. Jenny suddenly believes he loved her. He killed her partner and his father was going to fly off and leave her but she believed he loved her. The woman must be insane.Or we are for watching this rubbish.
Written on: 31/10/2023
if Peter hit Stephen with enough force to kil him,how did he manage to miss Jenny? if you think this was rubbish wait till you see the funeral! What I don,t understand is ,why did Peter have such a guilt trip afterwards,he did us all a favour.

I found this whole ending of Stephen to be confusing and very poorly done. We were looking forward to the ending, very disappointing. I read that the 'Steven' character had to be wrapped up sooner rather than later, and I guess that's why the resulting story line suffered with it's poor writing. All the main characters involved in this story line have not come across as true, especially Jenny.

Have just watched Fridays episode of Coronation Street! Omg what a shambles! Who the hell are the writers, producers???? They all need to be given their P45’s!! Nothing makes sense, the actors and their lines are dreadful, the Stephen departure episode was just embarrassing… I’m not sure which police force run Wethersfield, or are they a mickey mouse force as have absolutely no idea what’s going on,! It’s such a shame as there are still some of the original actors who are the only reason I continue to watch the soap but quite frankly I’m struggling to imagine where you picked up the rest of them from !!! Start tying up loose ends, do your research , try to make story lines realistic or else there won’t be any viewers left! ????

Stephen lying dead in the street was the highlight of my viewing last week, what I would like to know is how Peter avoided hitting Jenny and one request, will the women in corrie learn when to keep their mouths shut, they cause more than enough problems with their nasty remarks and gossip.

It,s amazing just how many stupid people can live in one street, the Dingles in Emmerdale have more brains than this lot I agree about the police, why are they so thick ,they're the same in all the soaps I now have a problem trying to work out who's married to who and who's kid is who's,as far as kid,s are concerned, get rid,no one's interested.

Watching in US. Tried to watch the episode set on Coronation Day, because I love Eastenders. Couldn't finish it. Bitter snarkfest in a pub giving out free food for the occasion. Couldn't decide if it was supposed to be comedy? Characters people you just try to avoid in real life--constant negativity for no good reason, trying to be witty but only succeeding in being stupid. Very bad. Checked out Emmerdale as well. Seems boring and depressing. Guess I will just have to wait for new Eastenders episodes.

According to the Soap writers that's how we live and who we really are, they give the wrong impression of the North/South way of life,it,s no wonder people have old fashioned and outdated idea,s about each other, they need to get in to the real world and stop treating, people, races etc as stereotypes.
written by RomeoNash329 on 18/07/2023
watching classic corrie then the 2023 version there is no comparison. Where have all the good characters gone. We are left with just actors playing parts but no real characters anymore. Classic corrie was brilliant and I advise people to tune into that instead.
Written on: 21/07/2023
The story lines have become very predictable now,i knew when Tim gave steven a well deserved smack that Steven would become the victim and Tim would get his collar felt,it was a dot on the card. Why can,t the writers give us a feel good episode and let us enjoy Steven getting his come-uppance,the more painful the better, and let him vanish for good,i don,t know how he,s lasted this long.
Written on: 14/09/2023
i totally agree. Watch this every night at seven then tune in to 2023 version and what a let down. nobody in the pub, drab depressing stories, no comedy anymore just doom and gloom. I would switch it off but husband still wants to watch. Out of habit no doubt because we both agree it has gone to the dogs.

I stopped watching Coronation Street just after the end of the pandemic. Before that, I was struggling to make any comprehension of it. It seems the scriptwriters fail to get anything right and never learn from their mistakes. The introduction of slapstick comedy, then it suddenly tries to be overly serious, sometimes in the same frame. Total ludicrous storylines, non-believable characters, and abysmal acting all round.

I'v been viewing Corrie for ever,i'v never known it to be so boring, evey thing is drawn out and tedious, people vanish for weeks on end,Woke issues are hammered, all the kid,s have attitude, the people are hard to believe in,even the police are a bunch of useless stereotypes.
written by Bruv on 25/04/2023
I started to watch Corrie on Monday evening, until that horrible child Hope appeared,i changed channels immediately, this is the type of character the writers have to drop if they have any chance of getting their viewers back, i'll carry on switching off until Bride of Chuckie is written out, perhaps she could do away with Stephen and do us all a favour.

So Carla still had no blood test. She has been in a private facility which would be very expensive.Admitted with suspected psychosis, no consultant in that private hospital arranged blood tests.that is bog standard first line care.Even hard up NHS would do that, no not in this town.If l was Peter l would ask private hospital for my money back.So stupid.Does anyone explain this stuff to script writers.???
written by Bruv on 12/04/2023
It would seem that the script writers ,of ALL the Soaps, have a Woke,P.C agender, don,t they realise that they are doing more harm to issues such as homosexual Rights,Race Relations etc by the things they write about and are making things worse with their one sided arguments,it really is time for the people at the top to put their foot down and say enough is enough. We live in the real world, stop looking at it in your pretend fantasy story lines.
written by 192Churchill on 17/03/2023
I can't bear h to watch this drivel any longer. I feel physically sick whenever I have to sit through yet another episode of that creep, Stephen. Allowing him to drug Carla - repeatedly! - a woman who has suffered mental illness in the past, is risky reprehensible. It is showing a lack of moral responsibility on the part of the programme directors. This story is disgusting! And the nicey-nicey lack of some bitchy gossip, some adultery, some real human behaviour is as pathetic as the sneaky Stephen line. He needs his come-uppance NOW. So do the programme writers and directors!

I think the writers have shot them selves in the foot with the awful Stphen story, they're stuck with it and don,t know how to solve it ,like a lot of other recent stories that should have been left alone, far too many gays, the whole sorry Underworld rubbish,Hope and her boy wonder side kick, crazy Justin, the one sided race issue, all these going on in one back street in Manchester,Corrie was once entertaining, now it,s dying the death, time to get some new blood in,both sides of the camera,s.
written by Sharonwilso on 17/03/2023
I have watched coronation street for years but it has got to the point of ridiculous storylines now I can’t watch it now the worst character is Steven he is the worst actor by far he has killed and drugged people but no one has suspected him what a joke can’t watch it anymore
Written on: 29/03/2023
may I suggest a future plot for Corrie,a phantom graffiti artist starts writing" Stephen reid, who you going to kill next" around the street, just for fun of course, just to see if he can do another face instead of the dull, dreary expressionless looks we've seen so far.

For goodness sake does nobody realise what an appallingly bad actor Todd Boyce (Stephen) is ? Where has the humour gone, the good quality acting? Instead we see ridiculous story lines and poor acting. Come on writers and producers give us something worth watching.
Written on: 20/03/2023
from the very beginning Underworld has given the impression that it was a major player in the fashion industry,in reality it,s a sweat shop turning out tat in a Manchester back street, it,s time to call it a day.
Written on: 29/03/2023
Todd Boyce, who plays Stephen Reid, has been around since 1980,he,s been in masses of tv productions and has a good c.v, so why the hell is he wasting his time, and reputation on appearing in this terrible role in Corrie, this could ruin his creditability,i reckon it was a bad move in his acting career.

The Daisy Midgley stalker/wedding plans is so boring. She's either twittering nonsense about boring wedding plans or showing a miserable face about the stupid stalker. Gone on far too long. I record corrie so I can fast forward as soon as she comes on screen. Likewise Stephen Reid...non credible storyline and goes on an on..like who pushes someone into a garbage bin killing them then the guys father as well and gets away with it? Cant wait for him to be gone. Then there's Hope Stape. With her parents running in circles round the horrid brat. Maria..refugee story..boring. It's a big shame Jacob has gone. The new people introduced recently are as boring as hell. Can we not have some comedy? Some excitement? Some unpredictability? Gary behaving badly again? Aaron dumping Summer and finding someone knew and exciting like Kylie was or Aiden's girlfriend Eva seems all the good ones have left. Jasmine is boring as well and Elaine too...Evelyn is far better for an older woman character...more like her please .

What happened about all those giant holes that featured after the big storm, haven,t seen any workmen on the street, no houses have sunk, the Platt,s garden is still there, no body has suddenly been swallowed up and vanished, typical council bodge up.

After watching Corrie for the last forty years, I am going to stop watching. The viewers are fed up of these long lingering story lines that the writers think keep the fans interested. Well they differently don’t !!
written by trolleybus654 on 07/03/2023
The failed speech by Steven (or is it Stephen) was utterly ridiculous. What has all this to do with a back street in a Manchester suburb? Bring back Ena, Matha and Minne chatting in the Snug. I really do look forward to watching the classic episodes from some 20 years ago - good actors and characters and believable storylines, with some serious points and humour thrown in.

Carla has suffered mental and physical serious health problems. So Peter is concerned and takes her to the doctor. The doctor does nothing. The least any doctor would do is arrange blood tests especially with Carlas medical history.Surely Peter would insist on it.No that did not happen????This is crazy stuff.Maria promised her good mate David she would not tell Gary about the attempt to kiss her, went straight home and told mad Gary??? Sarah is a horrible person plotting with lunatic Steven and lying to damage Carlas business. The woman who gave them a job.. Maybe Sarah is mad like uncle Steven she always has a mad grin on her face.Last person on tv doing that was JR Ewing in Dallas we all know what happened to him!!!!

I find it hard to believe that a complete stranger could walk into a pub in a working class area of Manchester and openly stalk and terrorise one of the barmaids,in the real world he would end up in an alley one night and be in no fit state to hurt anyone ever again, this is no disrespect to the good people of Manchester it,s simply stating a reality,Justin would not have lasted long,in fact the writers could work along these lines to get rid of him.
written by 149Bailey on 27/02/2023
Coronation Street has got so much worse recently with Steven being able to commit two murders drug and manipulate Carla and other people. Getting loads of money from the remortgage of his mum's house and many other things without anyone questioning him. He suddenly appears and intensely follows people around when he wants to manipulate them, and, no one questions his sudden interest in their life and then he is gone after the next victim. The stories and behaviours are completely unbelievable. The story about Bernie's look alike robbing a jewelry store and framing Bernie. Well you can clearly hear and see that she is a different person . . It's just all so ridiculous. Daisy would have got a restraining order against Justin by now. So many unbelievable stories. They need to get a new screenwriter and plot creator.

Who is writing this show , l remember when it was a mixture of comedy and good storylines but now it’s turned into a left wing snowflake production with stomach churning badly written propaganda , my days of coronation street are over

i see more potential recruits on the horizon ready to take on the followers of Woke, the Luvvies in the Snowflake brigage will be cancelled and we can all return to the real world, the only problem will be finding suitable employment for them without upsetting their delicate natures.

I never thought my partner would refuse to watch this again after 40 years What is all this rubbish about terrorists and asylum seekers “leftie crap” It’s a street in the north, all we are seeing here is sympathy for for illegals to sit down in Roy’s cafe, not for a bacon sandwich… And Maria seriously a councillor, when her husband has murdered many people??? Social conscience my foot!! Get more middle of the road writers please And don’t get me on about Stephen and is annoying voice and concern for people he has either myrdered or poisoned Let eastendeds do all that miserable crap!!
Written on: 02/03/2023
I think Roy should be careful who he offers a Bacon sarnie to,many asylum seekers would be offended, and we can,t have that can we. To be honest ,the local café is not the best of places to have meetings ,there are plenty who would not take kindly to. this is a local eating place for people to enjoy quality break time ,not having the place taken over by leftie sympathizers.

Poor Roy,i really do feel sad for him,one of the nicest blokes around, not what you would call worldly wise and fairly naive, has the mis-fortune to be nicked by the dumbest bunch of cops since Charlie Chaplin days. The missing girl is...missing,there's no evidence she's dead but Roy's accused of murder. The female detective proves one thing, there really are dumb blondes.
