“A desperate place where everything costs extra. Abysmal.”

Written on: 15/04/2013

Our family went to Crealy last week and almost instantly regretted it. Everything in there seemed to have an extra charge on top of the already over priced entrance fee which I find utterly deplorable. To pay over £60 to get in and then have things cost more on top!! the staff I had to deal with were very young, poorly trained and as miserable as sin. Food was expensive and bland and I left Crealy feeling very angry. I can honestly say I didn't like anything about this place. Even my two... (read more)

“We Love Crealy World”

I have two children who are 6 and 8 and we come down to devon every year just so we can spend a few days in Crealy. The soft play area with the drop slides is fantastic and the ponies that you can brush are my childrens favorites. The live shows in the tent are great, we did lots of big dancing to Bob the Builder last year and we are coming back again at Easter.I wish we had a theme park like this nearer to Portsmouth its great!! we paid to get in with Clubcard vouchers but even if we... “Expensive and AWFUL food.”

Written on: 21/10/2012

Me, my husband, sister, her boyfriend and my 15 month old son, were on holiday in Devon and thought it would be a good idea to visit crealy for the day. What a terrible mistake that was. The soft indoor play areas are very old and tired looking, they are in need of a make over. I already expected them to be in better condition after we had paid £60 for us all to get in. The animal section was good fun as you can feed some of them (for an extra cost) i have to say this was the only part of... (read more)

I first went to crealy when I was about 4, and I loved it. Went back when I was about 13, had a nice day out. Went back last year when I was 16 and I was SO bored for the whole day.
Went with my sister (14 at the time) and my stepsister (5) and parents. It was fairly expensive to get in and took a while. Basically if you're planning on taking anyone over the age of 12, forget it! They're going to be bored and complaining all day.
There's quite a lot to do, but not for 12+ really. Except the... (read more)

Written on: 25/10/2010

My grandson and his friend got stuck in the simulator. The alarm was going but nobody came. I found the nearest employee who didn't have a clue until I shouted at her and she got somebody else who had the sense to call maintenance. The children (both aged nine) were terrified and crying. I then looked round the park at the age and number of employees working at the park.
I would leave others to decide whether the park is putting profits before safety and well being of their guests. If I... (read more)

We went to Crealy for the day with our son, daughter in law and 3 grandchildren it cost an arm and a leg to enter (one child is only 3 years)we then discovered that there are quite a few things that you have to pay extra to go onto.
On deciding to get something to eat from one of the FAST FOOD places which was not very fast then discovered that the rolls were cold almost to the point of being frozen and charged a lot of money I was not impressed,we then went onto another part of the park to... (read more)

Crealy Aventure Park Devon. Around £50 gets a 6 day pass for a family of 4. This is good value in that you can keep returning but poor value in that on busy days, many of those in front of you in the long queues for rides will on their 2nd or 3rd visits. It does have some good rides and activities. However far too many of them require extra payment. Food on site is expensive (bring your own) and the Park shop which you have to go through on your way in and out has lots of things you children... (read more)

At first I was relativly impressed, it is well kept and the toilets etc are very clean and tidy, however, I was rather dissappointed at the number of paying rides once you've paid the all in price and entered, it appeared as though about half the attractions cost additional, I took my 2 & 4 year olds who both had a great time, although the 2 year old had less available to her as she was 2 cm under the lower height size. If we had given in and paid for the additinal rides the £12 (online)... (read more)

Written on: 17/06/2010

Just tried out the new Vortex water coaster at Crealy and it was so much fun! There are 3 tubes to choose from, one is really twisty, one bumpy and one is a really fast drop and they have light effects. You get in a little dinghy and choose at the top which tube to go through. My daughter went on it at least 5 times and has not stopped talking about it since! We are going back again next weekend as there is so much to see and we didn't get to see it all. A great day for the family.

Crealy is very well thought out. None of the rides are too scary or too boring. It has everything a good theme park needs, a log flume, a newly rethemed rollercoaster, waterslides (coming soon) a pirate ship and loads of play areas. I found the staff on the bumper boats a bit rude though and didn't look like they cared much. Apart from the staff very good!

Also the website isn't the easiest to use now :/

I have recommended Crealy Adventure Theme Park so many times to friends and my family! It is without a doubt THE best day out for families in the area. There is no other attraction which offers everything like Crealy does - the rides, the animals, the indoor play areas. Had a great day at Crealy Adventure Theme Park - we went for my daughters 8th birthday and it was fantastic. We were concerned because we had a large range of ages with us but everyone enjoyed it. The room we had was well decorated and organised, staff were friendly and helpful throughout and the visit from the Crealy Bear really made her day. Shame about the weather but that can't be changed and didn't effect our day! Definitely recommend it for parties/general days out for a family. (read more)

Written on: 08/08/2009

We went to Crealy for a day out whilst staying with friends in Devon, but I found the place overpriced and at didn't live up to our expectations.
The rides were ok, nothing special and there wasn't much in the way of rides for smaller children (ie under 6 or so). It seemed that lots of the 'attractions' needed to be paid for, such as the little powered cars. I think this is pretty steep when you have already paid nearly £60 for a family of five to get in!
The toilets were disgusting, dirty... (read more)

Crealy's Comment

Written on: 25/08/2009

We are dismayed by your description of your visit. Apologies if the toilets at 1pm were not perfect, normally our dedicated team maintains our high standards.

In regards to your comments about our rides at the Park, we normally have a large amount of positive feedback from guests on the mix of family rides and attractions we offer. The powered cars that you refer to are optional extras that guests can pay for should they wish. The reason they are not included in the main admission charge is because not everyone is able to use them and so we keep our admission prices as low as possible and offer this optional extra as an extra charge if wanted.

We did have some wasps nests earlier this month, which have now been dealt with, although we are very hot on litter and 98% of all our guests are satisfied with the overall quality.

We are ensuring that our usual high standards are met in future.

We would be more than happy to discuss your day out, if you'd be so kind as to email us on fun@crealy.co.uk so that we can get in touch with you personally.

Kind regards

Have just got memberships for 2 adults - my son is small enough to get in for free. We had been visiting Crealy in Exeter for over a year now as Daniel loves it, so for around £40 each we decided to buy the memberships. It suits us really well as we visit at least once a month as a treat - lots of animals to see (especially baby ones this time of year), indoor and outdoor rides and activities and they usually have a special event or childrens character on the holidays. A Crealy dissapointing day out!!! We paid the best part of £50 to get into Crealy Adventure Theme Park (2 adults and 2 children on a family ticket plus our youngest child who was free). On the day we visited there were 4 attractions not running, but what really annoyed us was the amount of extra money you needed to pay once inside for some of the attractions. £4 for the go karts, another £4 for the canoes, £3 for a pony ride and £3 for the blow up balls that you got inside and walked... Crealy's Response to keri thomas's Review

Written on: 23/04/2009

Dear Keri

Thank you for visiting and reviewing Crealy. I am so pleased you enjoyed the indoor and outdoor play and the animals but I am really surprised, though, by the rest of your review. Did you visit all of the rides - the Loco Coaster, Tidal Wave log flume, Dino Blaster boats, Vintage Carousel, Prairie Train, Dina's Lost World including the new Go WILD!

In answer to your specific comments about price and optional charges: The price has increased this year to cover the brilliant new attractions and the increased costs of running the Park. We have passed on to you the 2.5% reduction in VAT. As a family business with five children myself, we are very conscious of the need to provide outstanding value for money, and are confident that Crealy does give the very best value for money of all attractions. This year we are offering everyone free 7 day returns, so by collecting a wristband from the giftshop when in the park guests can come back again, for free.

New attractions this year include: Go WILD! Canopy adventure play area in Dina ' s Lost world - Pirates 'Revenge swashbuckling adventure play area opening 16th May 2009 - Crealy Bear and the Pirates Theatre Show - Dina's Animal Showtime - MORE trees planted - IMPROVED hospitality (catering) - FREE Return Wristbands - return free for up to 7 days when you wear a wristband (issued on the first day of visit, on request) - huge commitment to health, safety and also service - only the best staff make it as our Rangers as we only hire the top 25% of applicants and invest heavily in training, developing and looking after our staff so that they look after you brilliantly:our Rangers are famous!

Yes, there are optional extra charges inside the Park because they are just that - optional. All of our additional options have limited capacity so cannot be used by all guests - so it is fairer to offer them on a "pay to play" basis to the people who want to use them. Optional extras include coin operated mini-rides, games and amusements, Water Walkerz, Water Warz, Stealthdrive Canoes, Pony Rides, Techno Race Karts and Panning for Gold.

I am sorry that you did not have a completely enjoyable time when you visited and do hope that you choose to come back again, and next time experience the maximum fun for which Crealy is famous.

With kind regards,

Angela Wright, Founder, Crealy Great Adventure Parks

I agree the food is a bit naff in the burger bars, but if you had tried the restaurant next to the gold sifting you could have had a very good hot meal at a reasonable enough price, or a nice salad from the salad bar. I have always found the food pretty good there! Children's meals are also available at reasonable cost, healthier than burgers!
