I reveiewed a few wedding sites but mistakenly booked Peckforton Castle. We wanted a May 1st date (2008) because that was our 10 year anniversary, so it fell on a weekday. Despite that we paid the full price for the venue. Little to our knowledge they sold another function room to an eclesiastical college ball. The wedding facilitator was on holiday for our date and it was a total nightmare. Drinks from the not so cheap drinks package that we had ordered didn't come through and the schedule... (read more)

We took our family to the "Lunch with Santa" on the 19th of December.
It was very exciting and the children couldn't wait, previously we had been there to book and the staff were excellent showing us around and told us about the development of the castle as it had changed into a hotel since we were married there 9 years ago. Ths setting is fantastic and we thought that it would be a superb place to start our Christmas holiday.
Oh how wrong we were. The food was very nice and the staff were...

What a fantastic wedding day we experienced at Peckforton Castle. My daughter, new husband, family and friends could not speak more highly of the fantastic service shown in all respects by the castle staff, and all had a truly memorable day. Thank you Peckforton Castle for giving my daughter a fairytale wedding beyond her wildest dreams. Even the sun shone brightly in England in November. Thanks so much all of you. Friends have already booked a stay themselves and I know more will follow,... (read more)

I would NEVER RECOMMEND Peckforton Castle as a hotel or wedding venue due to the fact we had a large sum of money STOLEN from our LOCKED bedroom DURING OUR WEDDING DAY. The other reason I could not recommend it is because of the appalling customer service we have received from the hotel management- THIS HOTEL SIMPLY REFUSES TO DEAL WITH COMPLAINTS! I am now forced to leave this review after the castle received our written letter of complaint over five weeks ago and neither the hotel... (read more)

The plus points: Peckforton Castle is a lovely castle in a beautiful setting.
The bad points: The staff are generally unhelpful and rude. The wedding business is literally a production line of weddings day after day. The food was very disappointing. The menu was very unimaginative. The soup to start with was the worst I have tasted. The chicken for main course was fair. Dessert was strawberries and cream, which takes no skill and very limited preparation to service. Evening buffet food was...

Very nice venue but the most impressive thing was the food. Overall incredible value for money and well worth visiting again. Plans are to add a Spa area and restoration has started. (read more)

After having researched wedding venues and prices quite comprehensively, and having visited some rather picturesque wedding venues,we decided to have our wedding at Peckforton castle. Initially I had many worries including that of hidden costs, because the prices seemed rather deceptively economical. We were convinced there was a catch somewhere, but to our absolute delight everything was an absolutely perfectly choreographed dream sequence.
The staff were not only competent and...

We attended a wedding at Peckforton Castle, Cheshire, in March 2009. The location, scenery and look of the Castle is excellent but the staff don't seem to be trained in customer service. (read more)

I stayed the night at the Peckforton Castle, Cheshire before with my two bridesmaids and we were having breakfast brought up to us, i had been advised it would have been full english when it did come there was only food for two people and it was continental!! not what we appeared tp be told and had to ring down for the third meal, and when we did ask where the full english was we were told to go to the restaurant.People seened to be being shown round just after we had the civil ceremony and... We had our work Xmas meal at Peckforton Castle last Saturday 13th December. It was one of the worst meals I have ever had and all the staff felt likewise. The only choice of starter, the vegetable broth was like dirty dish water and tasteless with just a few bits of carrots and rice grains floating about in it. The vegetarian main, mushroom risotto had about 2 bits of mushroom and tasted like overcooked rice in milk. We thought this for £42.50 per head was very disappointing. We felt... (read more)

Having attended a wedding in 2005 I arrived at the castle with some trepidation for my cousins wedding in August, 08 however, it quickly became apparent that big changes had been made. It was clean, you could smell the polish, staff were friendly and really helpful and the food heavenly.
My cousin remarked later that it had truly been the best day of their lives and the wedding office had made everything go so smoothly

Peckforton castle is a beautiful place, it's just a shame the magic didn't extend to the service. Some staff were very unaccommodating and seemed overly focused on how much profit they were making. If you expect them to help you have a wonderful day then don't, they will too busy trying to look at how much money you have in your purse. (read more)

We booked Peckforton Castle as our wedding reception venue in 2006. In the twelve months since then, the new owners and team have done a fantastic job of turning around the building (which was becoming slightly shabby) and the level of customer service offered. We had a fantastic day from our arrival at the Castle through to our departure the next morning. The staff went out of their way to help us, the castle itself looked stunning, and the food was excellent. I'd have no hesitation at all... (read more)

Due to the genuine authenticity of the building and surroundings, I appreciate that it is hard to alter too much of the surroundings due to it's grade 1 listed status. However, I feel that a simple face lift on the carpets and some of the wall coverings wouldn't go amiss, and some of the bathroom suites need a re-modernisation. Having a young family we were hardly flashing the cash around, and so we had a room to more suit our budget. However, it was still a pricey £70 that could have given... (read more)

After having recently been involved at Peckforton Castle in the role of a wedding co-ordinator, I would like to pass on my experiences. I visited the castle prior to the current owners' involvement and I had some concerns. However, when the current family took over, I was amazed on a subsequent visit so see the changes that had been made. Within days the castle looked like a different venue. New furniture, rooms refurbished and decorated, the attention to detail was incredible, and the... (read more)

We got married at Peckforton Castle on Sunday 18th June 2006, and had the most amazing day ever. After reading some of the reviews we were apprehensive, but our day could not have gone any better. The staff were excellent, the food was excellent, the venue was amazing, and it couldn't have gone any better. Thank you to all Peckforton Castle!! (read more)

Having had my wedding reception at Peckforton Castle yesterday (10/6/06), I just wanted to say how fabulous the whole day was. The Castle looked breathtaking, with the high sandstone ramparts making the perfect back drop for the photo's.
There were plenty of staff on hand, and all were friendly, helpful and welcoming.
The Wedding breakfast was of a really good quality (I can definitely recommend the lamb) and served efficiently, quickly and piping hot.
I recommend Peckforton Castle...
