A very expensive poor quality experience . Will not return and will discourage others from visiting . Most of the rides were closed due to it not being a busy day .

“Please don’t go”

★☆☆☆☆

written by robh23 on 02/10/2021

We had a terrible experience here just over a month ago with many attractions shut or in a terrible state, some of the staff were rude and the cleanliness was appalling. To top all of this off though the customer services team have not deemed me important enough to respond to. This park is the most expensive theme park in the uk and the worst experience

“gone so downhill”

★☆☆☆☆

written by SkyeSelf179 on 23/07/2021

How do I begin to express the way I feel about this theme park, I am utterly disgusted at the way it's been ran to the ground, non of the shops were open, they are also very understaffed! Non of the ride operators seemed to be pleased they also looked bored and run down too! I remember a couple of years ago I was there and the ride staff were amazing, so helpful and fun to talk to. I also had an issue with a member of the ride staff about dueling the rides, my child went on one and he refused to open the other as he ' couldn't be bothered' his words. I was disgusted. I do remember when I last came for a visit it was just before Velocity had the ridiculous paint job, there was this one person working on the ride, I couldn't quite catch his name but he was so polite and always happy to help, one of my family relatives had some impairment but loved the ride and he was so happy to help. I can understand with the 'pandemic' but it doesn't excuse the fact of running the place down! Come on guys this was once an enjoyable day out, I don't think I'll be coming back for sure.

“Give them a few weeks to fix everything”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Kieranz362 on 29/03/2016

Visited the park yesterday, Bank holiday Monday 28th March. Extremely disappointed with the general condition/tidiness of the park and the amount of rides which were unavailable to use. Kumali – Available for an hour or so in the morning then experienced several issues. Re-opened around 3pm. Velocity – Unavailable Hero – Experienced several issues including leaving people stranded at the top of the ride! Pterodactyl – Unavailable Lost river ride – Unavailable Cable cars – Very infrequent, long queues, several issues Zoo monorail – Unavailable People mover – Unavailable 4D cinema experience – This is embarrassing. Sound system barely audible, no ‘splashing’ water and the movement of the seats is out of sync with the 30 year old film! In addition to the above, the cleanliness and presentation of the park is appalling in places. Barrier tape cordoning off several areas, litter everywhere. The weather cannot be blamed either as the rain was very light and stopped completely around 11am. The maintenance team have had months to get this park ready and they’ve failed miserably as far as I can tell.

Is it health and safety gone mad but waiting up to two hours for a roller coaster is torture. Were not offered or aware of fast track options just had to stand and watch loads of people getting on while hundreds waited

Our lodge was fantastic clean, well equipped and spacious. Facilities were great pool. Etc.. Really good. Theme park and zoo incredible, didn't have to leave site, plenty to entertain a three year old. We found staff courteous, helpful and informative. Will definitely go again.

“An unfortunate day out”

★☆☆☆☆

written by 18Cleveland on 24/08/2014

I visited flamingo land today (24 AUGUST 2014) with my family and friends. It ended up being a disasterous day out because of various things, amongst which the infamously bad attitude of the staff was a key factor. Because of time and space constraints i will only mention a few of the unsavoury situations surrounding our day out. The toilets facilities were inadequate with huge queues outside them. When you eventually got to them, they were in such a poor state, that i (and several other customers) were visibly gagging at the rancid smell of stale urine that was hanging thick in the air, and at the state of the toilet cubicles. The rides in the park all had rust creeping through the veneer of thinly applied (what looked like) household paint, brushed over them to try to hide the rusting. (this did not inspire confidence as to the safety of the rides) The staff in the main looked completely un-interested in their work. I actually had a very bad experience where one of the staff attacked me physically and tried to knock my mobile phone out of my hand when i was recording their deeply disturbing behaviour. - whilst waiting in the hour long queues for one the rides, i noticed that a particular member of staff was behaving in what appeared to be an inappropriate manner. I witnessed them picking all of the white faces in the queue and putting them at the front of the ride and then ordering all of the non-white faces to the back of the ride. When i had witnessed the same thing happen several times, i decided to record the matter on my phone. i asked that member of staff (who was the only member of staff on that ride) about what had happened, and this was when they attacked me and tried to stop me from recording. they were abusive and threatening and they had the audacity to tell me thatn they were going to call security to have *me* thrown out of the park! (go figure!) We had bought special offer tickets which entitled us to a free treats as part of out entry to the park. the staff did not give us enough tickets to cover our group and then they would not ammend their mistake. If i could have awarded this theme park a negative mark, i may have been sorely tempted to do so, based soley upon the staffs attitude. however i have awarded 2 stars for the rides, food and vfm. simply because they had them there. If you want a family fun day out where you might not have to worry about the potential to being abused by the staff, then i would recommend that you look elsewhere for your fun day out. Having read some of the other reviews on this site and other sites, i have realised that my experience was not a 'one-off' situation. It seems quite plausible that anyone visiting flamingoland theme park may become victim of their abusive staff. save your money and book elsewhere..

Fully agree with this review.
My review in 2006 commented on the poor state of the park and my daughter had decided to give it another try after 8 years and went last week--she said it was just as dirty and poorly maintained.
It was rusting in 2006 so I hate to think how bad it is now.
I wrote a letter of complaint about the staff and general poor state of the park and was offered a free ticket!!! ha!. It was ripped up and thrown out.
Maybe if they invested some of the profits into training staff and maintaining the park it may attract more visitors and better reviews.
Thankfully neither my daughter or myself will never have to experience this place again.

visited with family 9 of us on sat 9th aug having a really good time i then went to the ladies toilets opposite the zoo shop .5 toilets in all and 3 were out of order i remarked to a lady next to me that this was a bit bad for how much we had spent to get in the park and for the size of the place unknown to me a member of staff was in 1 of the toilets pouring water down trying to unblock them .he obviously took my comment personal and proceeded to throw the empty bucket in the corner then picked ot up and kicked it over the room while shouting this isnt my fault were short staffed ,no water pressure etc when i said was all that for my benefit he was nearly right in my face shouting . i must admit i retaliated with a few words of my own then i realised there was a few people behind me with kiddies so i said thats it going to the manager.went to see the manager which was a total waste of time i thnk the words were oh hes usually a good member of staff,ob but this is the 2nd complaint about him this week, were having problems with water pressure my parents live nearby they having same trouble,oh he must be having a bad day !!!!! well sorry thats not my problem i was there on a nice day out with my family and didnt expect to be treated like that by the member of staff or the manager i will be taking this further

“Rude and depressing staff ”

★☆☆☆☆

written by Shellp62 on 11/08/2014

I visited the park on Friday 8/8/14 with my 5year old son . I used to visit the park regular as a child as my dad worked there and my memory's were very good ones . Unfortunately this time round there not although my son enjoyed the park he did keep asking why none of the staff smiled or talked . I have never been any where that has so many miserable staff they made me feel depressed . There was only one member of staff that actually spoke to us and smiled which in a park this big is very unacceptable . I work in the hospitality industry myself and know how important it is to make guests feel welcome and looked after so that they want to return and recommend there friends . I will give the park another chance only because my son enjoyed the rides but I will be asking to speak to a manager seen as my complaint through email has not been answered .

“Caravan site ”

★★★☆☆

written by Daniellemullen on 03/08/2014

I really enjoyed flamingo land only that the caravan I was staying in was a eyesore it looked great in pictures but when we arrived and went in the caravan was smelly not even clean properly there was poo over covers and duvet there was dampness in the bedroom (really really bad) that had to change rooms on the second night of staying, also had to share hover with another caravan also belonging to the man, cooker not cleaned oven broke mold in a tea bag tin dead flys all over window sill, soon as you take the pillows off couch to make into bed was cover in dead flys spiders and dust plates bowls and cutlery not washed fridge was not cleaned in a don't no how long same with microwave no glasses curtains dampness over them don think they have been washed since caravan had been bought. Had to go out and spend £100 on cleaning stuff and new bedding also had to buy pots cutlery and glasses spent my first day cleaning the caravan also found dirty pants and socks above war drop in the room. Also the shower was bad the water didn't come out the hose properly and you either got froze or scolded .Also think the park should be shut a day from the public as the queues were very long and had to q buster a lot of the rides each day after spending lots of money on wrist bands for the week and then paying £2 a head to q buster leading to more money on rides also food and shop a bit over priced and most restrautes selling the same stuff. Drink very expensive £2.80 for a vodka without juice over all rides were good. The zoo was good only there is no monkeys there anymore. Gift shops sell all the same things not a big variety of stuff for the kids. Think flamingo land should check the caravans every year to make sure they are clean for people to stay in and have the right stuff like cups cutlery and bowls plates ect..

“great place!!!”

★★★★☆

written by on 23/08/2013

Flamingo land is an absoloutely great day out, but you cant always get through all of the queues in one day, unless your Q buster, so in order to make your time even better, you should stay a night or two, in this way you can get to the theme park slightly earlier than day visitors and miss some of the bad queues, in the theme park everything is great, there is rides and stalls to ammuse people of all age groups, when i am walking around the theme park everyone looks happy, most of the staff are happy but a few look miserable, but thats probably because they have been in the heat all day though.the only fault flamingo land has is that the food is too overpriced ( it costs £3.95 for a 6" margerita pizza, but in my town you can get a 10" margerita pizza for just £3.60) and for a tray of chips it costs nearly £2 and you dont get that many, and if you want an ice cream to cool you down on a hot day, most people change they're minds due to them being expensive, its a shame the pricescs of food is so expensive as it is the only thing thaat lets flamingo land down :( THE CAMPSITE is very well maintained and looked after and it warns you if there is a male cleaner on duty by a sign on the door, there is a super leisure co mplex with a gym sauna and pool, and they have recently built an extra to the leisure complex which is an outdoor water park which shoots lots of water to cool you down on a hot day. Overall its a great place to be or stay! The only down fall as i said is the prices of food etc but i guess they have to make more profit somehow. I will certainly continue going to flamingo land with my family.

“Awesome, Amazing, Safe, Fantastic, Briliant, Great.”

★★★★★

written by GroovyGirl on 10/08/2013

Resort - Absolutely brilliant, came camping here for a few night, the resort itself is clean and well kept, toilets and showers always seem to have someone around cleaning them. Theme park - the children aged 7 and 11 love the freedom they have here, it feels really safe and the love the fact some rides are children ONLY love it. Being a single mum I have felt confident and safe. The park is very well kept and clean, we're on our 3rd theme park this holiday (thorpe park and legoland) and both children and our selves rate this one the best. Also love the fact that on a evening you can walk round the park and plan your next day. Plenty of security around on evenings. I will also like to say it not all commercial and money grabbing like other places, which is refreshing and to be honest im more likely to spend more. I would defiantly recommend flamingo land and I will 100% be coming back there is something for everyone.

“Fantastic Flamingo Land”

★★★★★

written by AmyEllenDixon on 29/09/2012

it annoys me at most of these reviews are bad. If you go at the right time of year you will experience flamingo land at its best. I have been going to flamingo land for 15 year and love it. People say it is over priced but if you look at it in comparison to other theme parks it isn't actually too bad. Also if you give the staff a chance most of them are really nice and chatty and make jokes with you. Being a Flamingo Land regular I also know that some staff are ignorant, but what can you expect sitting in the cold all day every day. There is also plenty of things for people of all ages to do. From walking around the zoo to thrill seeking on the extreme rides. The g caravan site is just as good as the main park itself. Last year when staying in a flamingo land caravan and we were told that the TV would have DVD player and free view and it didn't, so we went and complained to main reception and within a hour they were replacing the TV. The cost-cutter shop onsite isn't very big but it sells the stuff you will need when your staying at flamingo land. The leisure complex and swimming pool are always nipping clean and all the staff are genuinely nice. The American Bar have some amazing entertainment for both adults and children. The night starts off with a children's entertainer until about nine o clock then there are usually tribute band on for the adults. It is a good night out as long as you can stay until the end. there are also amusement in the club which is handy for the children if the get bored. There is one thing I would not recommend and that is the Chinese on site (im not sure if it is there this year as I am not booked up until the end of season). This Chinese is overly priced ad the quality of food is poor. If you want a Chinese i would strongly recommend that you order from a takeaway in Pickering and all you have to do is walk up to the main reception at the top of the park and pay there or you could drive and collect it from the shop yourself. Other than that one thing Flamingo Land is a fun place to have a holiday for any ages even if you dont like the rides.

“Flamingo Land should be shut down!!!!”

★☆☆☆☆

written by dwdgrefewd on 02/09/2012

Well as well as visiting there numerous times, I also worked there for 4 seasons and trust me, you have no idea how bad the place is until you've worked there. A lot of people can visit there and have a great day, and there are a fair few good rides there, but apart from that, the place is an absolute disgrace!! Only problem is, that the rides break down as consistently as it rains in the UK, and in high season, the rides take forever to queue up for, and the Q buster system is worse than useless. Half the time it doesn't work, and when it does, the Q buster queues can sometimes be longer than the regular queue. A lot of the staff, and especially the managers treat both other staff and customers like dirt. Their response to complaints is to just say tough luck and aren't very fond of doing things legally by sometimes forcing staff to work a night shift straight after the day shift without any breaks at all! The place regularly floods, the food is awful, everything is overpriced and is absolutely disgusting. When I worked there I was virtually the only staff member who ever bothered cleaning the shops/photo kiosks and quite often got into a state where I just didn't even know where to start cleaning it was that bad! It certainly says a lot about the place, when I didn't even bother visiting there even when I could get in for free!!! When I got my day off, I just wanted to get as far away from the place as physically possible. I always used to go there as a child and really enjoyed it but the last few years, it has really gone downhill fast. Before I left there, I'd noticed it getting quieter and quieter every year, because I assume more and more people are catching on to how bad the place is. So in conclusion, it's fine if you go there during low season when the queues are short and you bring your own food with you, but apart from that, I would highly recommend that people avoid this place at all costs so hopefully they'll lose all their business and shut down forever! =)

Went for a weeks camping to Flamingo land for the 1st and last time recently. 1st Staff need a lesson in how to treat paying guest as we are the ones paying their wages. 2nd I wouldn't bother trying to camp at this place its the worst site we have ever been to the pitches flood(no drainage at all)the showers and toilets are terrible seen them getting cleaned just the once in a week terrible. you try and complain and just get told like it or lump it.(yes you can pack up and leave but you will not get a penny back). Really overpriced food, over £20 for 2 burgers and chips what a joke. To sum up I Would avoid this place at all costs you have been warned.

“YUK”

written by unicorn29 on 31/08/2012

We have just arrived back from a 6 day break at Flamingoland, and never again. Booking in was a nightmare with no-one seeming to know who was doing what, but at least rhey were polite which is more than can be said of the people on the camping reception when we asked where we were to park we were told to find somewhere !! more easily said than done when half the ground was under water. We finally found somewhere to pitch and soon found out that there is no time curfew as there are in a lot of other parks so our neighbours carried on partying til 2,30 am !!! Next day we were woke by 6,30 so in the end we thought we'd get up and head for the showers, big joke they were that disgusting i wouldn't even put my big toe in. The only time to use them was when the cleaner had been round and even then it wasn't good as the water doesn't drain away,so we did a lot of swimming The swimming pool was up-graded this year !!!! which bit ?? it was cold and changing rooms and showers not too good. On the upside the rides were good value for money as you only pay once and the zoo was one of the best and spacious for the animals we have been to. So Flamingoland you need to do some courses for your staff in politeness and teach the cleaners how to clean, up grade the showers etc, then i'm sure it would be much better. So needless to say we won't be visiting again

“dirty with overpriced food”

★★☆☆☆

written by madgeca on 30/08/2012

rides good but the place was dirty, poorly maintained with smelly toilets overflowing bins, water coming in through the window frame in the food area. The cable car ride enclosure had pigeon feathers and encrusted droppings which did not get there overnight and must constitute a real health risk hazard to both staff and customers. Also most of the staff need to realise that customers pay good money to go there to enjoy themselves, they had no interest in helping people enjoy themselves I think some training issues need to be addressed. We had an unacceptably long wait for food as only one person was serving, the food was poor quality and vastly overpriced. Starbucks had ran out of milk at 4pm on a bank holiday and the kiosk ran out of ice cream !!! The concept of Q busters is in itself a farce as the Queue for this money making racket was almost as long as the queues for the rides ~(Peter Kay sketch in the making) Would certainly think twice before going again and considering Alton Towers for next visit.
