A move for us isn't trivial - we have 72 accounts in our reseller package. Since TSO took over, support response has slowed, and they don't seem to be as knowledgable. This in spite of a conversation with their chief, who said response would be better. Now have problems with 3 WordPress sites which, following an upgrade to 4.5.2 are not functioning properly. I've tested one site, copied to EvoHosting, where it works perfectly ... but they don't seem to be able to discover what the problem is with the server. The staff at 5Quid have been brilliant over the years - what a shame. Now looking at Nimbus.

I have been hosting various sites, large and small with 5quid, and over the years their support has been excellent, with highly knowlegable staff going the extra mile to sort out an issue. However since tso host have taken over my last two queries have been patronising and unhelpful. I can't afford to have sites down or compromised and so I am steadily migrating away from them as each site come up for renewal. Their platform is ok, but that's just a commodity and there's plenty more powerful / capacious offerings out there - the difference is the support when things go wrong, and that has slipped. It's a shame, they were my go-to hosts for many years.

the web server is good but the billing system is a freeeeekin night mare ..... there is no account to login to no way of interacting with you as a business and generally i hate the experience ... if it was not such a bother to find another provider i would go else where , purly on the weekness of the billing and account management system hello message !!!

Have transferred my domain name, but after three weeks am still unable to access cPanel, and so cannot start to build the webpage. In contrast, with the Domain name I left on Domain Monster I was able to get a webpage up and running in trial mode within 30 minutes....

we need a phone line to speak to a human on billing issues. There is no ability to attach a screen dump or files to prove this, and the control panel is pretty useless as the support just says contact your ISP provider. Which idiot put this in place? Does he still work there. come on guys sort this out quickly within one hour as we asked you a few days ago and you said we'd respond in one hour.. NOT GOOD.

Sorry to hear of the difficulties you encountered. Support can always be obtained via the 'Support' link on our website and attachments are supported as part of normal e-mail discourse following initial contact via that method.
On reviewing the support interaction in question, it appears we responded in within 9 minutes of your initial contact and that the issue in question has now been resolved.
However, should you require further clarification of any billing issues related to the account in question please don't hesitate to get in touch - happy to assist as required.

Seems like once a week now my website is completely down. In fairness it's always dealt with and restored promptly but then it will go down again. Sigh.

All of our servers are monitored for uptime on a minute by minute basis by an independent third party - for the week ending 2014-08-02, reported uptime was 99.97% across all servers.
Some of those are back-office servers that don't host customer websites, and can be rebooted freely for maintenance, meaning the customer-facing uptime figure is actually slightly higher.
Did you contact support regarding the issues with your site? There are a variety of site-specific reasons why you might be running into trouble, even if the underlying platform isn't experiencing issues. We'd welcome the opportunity to work with you to advise how best to ensure your site performs optimally.

When I didn't renew the Level 1 hosting on purpose, I would expect the account to be downgraded to the free account, this has happened in the past. Today I got notified that my account had been suspended, and my website was offline.
Written on: 30/04/2014
We've never actually had an automatic downgrade facility - payment for paid accounts is required in good time to avoid suspension (although there is almost a fortnight's grace period during which further payment reminders, and a final 48 hour warning of account suspension are sent by e-mail).
If you've not done so already, just let us know that you'd like to downgrade to the free account via a support request and we'll look to have that done for you (disk space permitting).

I am really disappointed in the speed of response times within this company. I ordered a free web hosting package, and a i have not yet been contacted by an operator to let me know my order is being processed or anything. Due to this lack of contact, and out of my own impatience to start building my new site, i ordered the package twice in hope that someone may tend to my order quicker. However this was not the case and i have now woken up in the morning, to find i have still not recieved any confirmation E-mails or anything and am strongly considering moving to another comnpany who provides a web hosting service. Speed was the big problem here as i am really eager to start my business and this is a big set back for me. Thanks.

Used to be a great service! Has really gone down hill recently :-(

Few resources, a service generally slow and inefficient. Only the support is valid, up to a certain point because limitations imposed are absurd. Force you to move to a higher hosting plane (Need more power? +) for more resources. The great success of all the positive reviews.....is the free PHP plan. Do not recommend.

What limitations are you referring to, the only limitation on most is memory use, the free plan having additional bandwidth limits which is what anyone would reasonably expect.
Most other's are unlimited, including emails, SQL dBases, add-on domains etc etc, they also keep the number of domains on any one shared server quite low, unlike others lie 123reg who put 1,000's on each.
I can only assume your complaining the free plan should have much more, but I would retort that's unreasonable.

5 quid a month is pretty expensive for basic hosting! the names seems to be a bit of a gimic to make you think its cheap, when really your actually paying 3 times what its worth. You can get the same anywhere for 20 quid for a whole year.

I found this review not helpful because...Someone who clearly doesn't use the service! They haven't even read the web page properly.
<br/>
<br/>Its 5 pounds a year, not a month!!
<br/>
<br/>Plus there's a free package. How cheap do you want it?

We had one package which was fine, but they recommended a WHM control panel, which was just to complex for most people to manage the problems started there. Definately value for money (you get what you pay for), but tech support via email is stretching it in this day and age. Sales man gave us wrong info again, even though we told him previous problems with last x2 hosters, we still made brand new mistakes.
Complexities with WHM, (Avoid)!! Need to be more FLEX-ible. Lifes to short to learn every single control panel, they need to develop a easier platform not customized for them but for the customer. (there the ones that use it the most). Shame cause seemed like good responsive system.

I found that service support at 5 Quid Host was too mechanistic and slow. The standard form to fill in on the customer's time, 'we will get back to you in 24 hours' set-up. Not so good if you have a problem or need telephone help, which appears non-existent.

Too hard?? Sorry but this doesn't sound like 5Quid. I moved over to them after using their free package (2 actually) and found it very easy. They even provided a temporary link to cpanel before I redirected my domain, so that I didn't lose time in working on the site. I'm sure if you had contacted their support, they'd have sorted it. Something else going on here....
