I have been with 5quidhost for years and had no problems but I have had nothing but problems since TSOHOST bought 5quidhost out and am now looking for a new host.TSOHOST support is very poor BEWARE.

I started years ago with them , they were great never had too much time to resolve issues, discuss and advise but as the years gone on, they quality and service has diminished, they now have distain and attitude whenever you do get in contact with them. Now our accounts are dead or migrated and we are unknown in the dark on hold awaiting a response from something we have no idea as killed our accounts. AAArrrghhh I can not use firms like this anymore. Now being diverted to TSO hosts on the ans machine whoever they are? What the hell is going on with firms like this does anyone realise these big cockups make us change providers next time around. Well we may be forced to do this before the day is out.

While it's been easy to order, it's been impossible to speak to a support staff. The submitting of a support ticket doesn't work from my account. And your FAQ doesn't provide any useful information.

I too have always had a VERY quick response from my tickets / emails, and to be honest in my busy life email / tickets are far better than sitting on the phone for 30mins or so waiting for an operator to take the call, These guys are by far above the rest!!!!

This company has no idea what is going on with their cancel/bill section. Multiple reminders to renew, all responded to with cancel the hosting, further renew or lose emails then prompted this review.

Sorry to hear you experienced difficulties. Cancelling an account is just a case of clicking on the 'Cancel' link, receiving the confirmation e-mail, and then clicking on the confirmation link in there. Perhaps your spam filter prevented you from receiving the confirmation link?

Too quick to suspend account leaving me in a serious position where I needed to access my email but could not! Will shortly changing back to previous provider

Did you contact us to discuss why your account had been suspended? It normally takes 24 days for suspension to kick in as a result of non-payment (during which time reminders are sent by both e-mail and SMS text message where available). Do please get in touch with our support team (who are available every day across the holiday period) so that we can discuss this with you with a view to resolving this issue.

Not accepting AMEX is lame. First use of VISA was instantaneous fail, so clearly it was not sent. Mastercard worked. Accept all cards and ensure they work.

AMEX charges merchants roughly double what VISA/MC charge, partly to subsidize bigger perks to cardholders. Why should a merchant subsidize your AMEX perks which are completely unrelated to their business? Card transactions can fail instantly for many reasons, and only rarely are those fails the result of merchant error. Your review has nothing to do with the service 5quid provide.

Our phone number is listed on our website under the 'Contact' link. Notifications of payments due, invoices, and account suspensions are sent by e-mail automatically and via SMS text message if a mobile number is provided. If you can supply us with a mobile number and a backup e-mail address we'd be happy to add those to your account record.

The automatic and instant 'Password Reset' option on our control panel does actually send an e-mail immediately to initiate the reset process.
Did you use the automatic option, or contact support for the reset (the latter would be processed in accordance with our 1 hour support response target).
Perhaps your e-mail program has a long check-interval set (or the automatic e-mail was filtered out as spam/junk)?

Does not sound like the 5quid service I know and like (too butch to say love). As I see it, three possibilities:
1) email is stuck in spam
2) did not use password reset link
3) dishonest competitor posting negative review
or all the above. My guess would be 3).

Very sorry .... as your system appeared very reasonable. But within a few weeks our *bandwidth* was exceeded and you simply closed our website to visitors. NO prior warning .... just WHAM! Website GONE! We tried to upgrade ... but your system failed miserably and NO email was received regarding *payment* to auto-restart it. We have decided to pay to be hosted by LCN instead as our former experience with LCN has been excellent. Sorry .... but *time is of the essence* .... and so is service/support.

I`ve used 5quid for years with no issue at all, but I`ve never seen (or needed) a Auto-Upgrade feature, are you sure your talking of 5quid?
Clearly if you exceed your allocated bandwidth they have to block you, but they do warn you when your approaching and when you exceed by email (perhaps you gave wrong email or failed to check spam box). They do also allow you to exceed allowed bandwidth by a good margin before applying a block.
Their responses to tickets are prompt and knowledgeable, if you need to upgrade just give payment (if no credit) and its done, even better if needed you can just upgrade for a month then go back to your old package.

I have been with 5quid host for nearly a year. To start of everything was ok, but then problems started. Every time you ring them or email them your ISP is the one to blame. You need to keep doing all test just to prove your point and prove its issue at their end. What a waste of time and money. Customer service is very poor too. Takes ages to get response. When you ring them it always goes to voice mail. If you want to report a problem (option 2) there is warring that you will be charged if there is no issue. When there is an issue their service status says there is no known issues. Great. Shared hosting uses very limited resources, so forget to run more then one website on "everlasting" hosting. There are constant speed issues, access issues, etc. Try to use FTP client (I use filezilla). Constantly times you out. And guess what. When reported problem they told me its my ISP fault, then after half a day got email, this time it was firewall fault. I disabled firewall on both 2 laptops (ubuntu 10.04, 11.10) and router (mikrotik, draytek, sky, virgin), and still same poor access. Tried 3 more Internet connections and still same poor access. Tried different provider and no issues (with or without firewall on) I have been working in IT 13 years by know. I have degree in IT and Telecommunications systems so I am not amateur. I would class my self as IT professional. My review is based on my experience with 5quidhost. I hope it will help you to make reasonable decision and do more research before deciding to spend your money with 5quidhost. I wouldn't even pay 5 quid for their services. What a waste of time and money.

I don't follow, if your the IT professional you claim you are? given the issues you state and 5quids response, why didn't you simply use an external testing service to negate (or otherwise) your ISP from the equation?

Problem with a new domain - browsers cant find URL - domain provider is checking. Raised call 41057 with support - got a reply - turn off your pc, turn it back on again - 48 hours later no mail back to check on prob - nada Very unimpressed.

Good hosting for free but my hosting went just 10mb over the bandwith limit. No warning emails were sent! 5quidhost just blocked my website. However I will stay with them and purchase the basic hosting.

Not happy with the service. Did not set up my account without telling me why. Waited 23 hours for a reply then emailed myself. They told me that they are having some problems with verification.
I filled their form and provided additional details. I even agreed to pay in advance for they could see that everything is ok. They just stopped replying me. What a nice attitude to a client!

Review doesn't mention telephone support but does describe exactly the problems we have had recently with this hosting company. So, I don't think its a mix-up, just another company that has sold its soul, doesn't look after its customers anymore and should be avoided.

The reseller part of 5squid ( if not the entire brand ) has been sold , ssl certificates failed yesterday, found their phone number and was told its my settings, only after insisting it's not, did the operator say 'actually it's at our end we are looking into it', the advice I got over the phone was not great, even worse for a reseller account
It's a real shame I've been with these guys for over 6 years, but after them being acquired by paragon ( seems they have bought the entire brand )
Most of the ssl issues are now sorted, but still a few accounts are glitch img , and after dealing with support yesterday and how they handled it, it seems in going to have to shift my entire reseller account and all clients elsewhere, Such a shame these guys where great, not any longer

Sorry, my mistake. A few minutes ago I was informed by email that indeed, 5Quidhost was taken over by TSOHost back in February, and TSOHost DO provide phone support. Strange that I wasn't informed prior to now, but that long delay is probably another symptom of the takeover. This also probably explains the noticeable drop in the quality of the support I've noticed since February. I have been a very happy 5quidhost reseller for many years, but reading reviews here since the takeover, and reviews of TSOHost over the past year, it appears that TSOHost are just another mediocre hosting company. Very sad. I fear it will be very difficult to find another hosting company as good as 5quidhost :-(
