“I wanted so badly to Like this 2001 Triumph Adventurer”

★★★☆☆

written by on 26/10/2012

I like standards. I have European Taste. I have owned a Honda ST1100 for 13 12 years. The Research / owner feedback on the Triumph Triples were very good. Here is my experience. Bought My Triumph 2nd hand with 30,000 miles on it this Spring 2012 The first week I fell over because I have this specific routine I must do to park a bike in this small area at work. I have owned dozens of bike..but for the first time...the steering maxed out and hit the steering stop which gave me just enough of a jolt to put my foot down , but I was on an elevation do my foot went an extra 6" down and I could not stop the inertia of the bike. I later that day ground the steering stops to make it a couple degrees better , but it is still the worse turning radius of anything I have owned. 2) On my third tank of gas the bike started running bad. the #1 was not firing. A new coil mode no differance. I had to replace the factory Gill ECU. They cost about $800 at Bikebandit. 3) there is lots of engine noise...and other Triumph Triple riders tell me mine is better than average. 4) No Center Stand, No Fuel Gauge, No Gear indicator. On the upside. lots of power and people compliment the looks.

I have to say that despite the shortcomings of the Triumph Adventurer, I still love it. It has the classic styling that gets attention from other bikers, has reasonable handling and is dependable with more that enough power to get you where your going. Change the mufflers to T-bird cans and custom fit Leatherlike bags I found on ebay that obscure the ugly bobbed rear fender with all the standard chrome and racked front forks this bike comes with. The bike has looks that could kill.
