“Complete rip off!”

Written on: 29/03/2013

I've just had a renewal request from Lloyds TSB - contents and buildings insurance of £1,284 or £107pcm. This is outrageous. On moneysupermarket.com there are loads at £300 per annum! How can they justify these premiums which are so out of kilter with the market. I need to check back but it seems that my failure to monitor their increases has just served to let them exploit me. I will complain! (read more)

My neighbours house burnt down in October 2012. He contacted Llyods tsb his insurance company to pay for my damage as my carpets were recked, my front door smashed in etc... They wrote to me and said they would rectify my damage as it was my neighbours fault the fire damaged my property. 5+ months on and no repairs have been done to my house and only the scaffolding has been put up his property. Here is the warning so you don't fall into the same trick. We claimed on our AXA Travel Insurance, sold to us by Lloyds TSB after our flight was cancelled due to a security staff strike - meaning people couldn't get through to the gates. ** This is the technicality they have got us on If you use an online check-in process, it won't work as proof you arrived at the airport. WIthout being able to prove you arrived at the airport with ample time they will void your claim, regardless to... (read more)

“Lloyds TSB "Disgusting) 8 months on and still waiting.”

Written on: 20/02/2013 by dwileman (1 review written)

Lloyds have been an absolute nightmare to deal with and am disappointed I have had to give them 1 star as they don't deserve that. I made a first contents claim in 11 years and am still awaiting settlement, this has been passed for settlement 3 times but they then continue to put it on hold for any reason they can find. The complaints team work in the same department so never really investigate your complaints properly and I am now going through the ombudsman. The issues I have had have... (read more)

We recently had a leak under our dishwasher which on calling out a repair company confirmed this. we did notice some marks on the flooring prior to this however, thought that somthing had been spilt onto it. their are 7, of us living in the hose and it did not accrue to any of us that it was a leak. Absolute rip off - still waiting for a response from LloydsTSB as I've requested a refund. Nearly £700 cheaper online Be warned - never believe that your renewal quote is the cheapest on offer. “Chimney Flue Claim-TSB Buildings and contents home...”

Written on: 29/10/2012

Being a "big" name I thought I would be safe with TSB, banked with them for over 50 years. I have solid fuel central heating and have my metal chimney flue liner swept and tested for leaks every year. In September of 2012, it had failed a safety test and needed replacing. Under law, to continue using the solid fuel boiler, I had to have the work done and of course for my own well being!. As this is a part of my house, an essential item, not a luxury or a fancy piece of decor, I assumed a... (read more)

Oomyekim's Comment

What you are claiming for wouldn't have been covered by any insurance. It is a maintenance issue, therefore, your responsibility. Insurance isn't meant to maintain your home or cover you for the inevitable (such as a chimney liner failing) Entirely your fault for not knowing how insurance works.

My above-neighbour leaked into flat causing the ceiling in kitchen to need complete replacement. The neighbour fully admitted liability, and admitted it took them 4 days to call a plumber to stop the leak. LloydsTSB told team to admit nothing, and now are telling me that there is no proven negligence, so rejecting the claim. “No effective emergency cover”

Written on: 24/08/2012

I had a leaking water supply pipe. This is only covered if: 1. It is reported within 24 hours, 2. It is due to accidental damage. I wonder exactly how you exactly damage something accidentally when it is more than two feet underground?? They wanted me to uncover the pipe so that they cold then inspect it and see whether the damage was 'accidental' or due to wear and tear. Useless. They will never have to pay out. If you want effective cover go to Homeserve - I wish I had stayed with... (read more)

“You really don't know your insurer until you claim”

I wish I had read previous reviews of this company. My policy is Lloyd's TSB contents insurance, underwritten by AXA. They say you don't know your insurer until you have to make a claim and that is true. Upon making a very minor claim that could have been sorted within 20 minutes at he very most, I have spoken to 5 people across 4 teams, and yet I have still not spoken to the "other" team who is apparently handling my claim! I have been banking with Lloyds TSB for 17 years. When I jointly bought my first home in 1996 I had contents insurance with them.

In 2000 I moved into rented accommodation, called Lloyds TSB Insurance and gave them my new address and details to swap the policy. I stupidly failed to notice the lack of renewal letters (in fairness I was in my early twenties and didn't know much about it, the direct debit was still active so I paid no attention).

Net results were a third world bathroom (when I got tired of squatting over a bucket things were eventually addressed by a friendly neighbour) -the Insurance claim was disallowed because I'd been in hospital for months (leaving the house empty) and had neglected to fill in the claim form, distracted by other stuff at the A&E.

When I rang Claims the first thing I was told was 'You pay the plumber', but to give them credit they did arrange imm. for a co. to come and dry out. They replaced damaged carpets, new for old, but beware and read ALL the policy. They don't pay for matching items. Unable to match tiles, we had the bathroom retiled and had to pay for 23m2 out of 28, TSB only paid for the 5m2 that came off. But they DID pay out quickly and gave the option of either providing people to do the work or us getting our own. Margaret

It is also in the terms and conditions!

This happened to me 10 years ago.
Insurance will only replace what is damaged. i.e. only the damaged unit.
They dont seem to care about the rest of the kitchen or what it looks like!
My kitchen was so old I had a have a unit especially made which they paid for. however this cost more than a complete new kitchen would have. (had a very small galley kitchen lit. 3 units and 3 wall units)

Its because come people milk the system and honest people have to suffer.
