I had been with AOL for 11 years up until 5 months back when I changed to BT. I had been getting half decent speeds with AOL until the last 12 months when the speeds fell intermittently to 0.5mb and made the service almost impossible to use. It wasn't even good enough to stream catch up profs on the smart TV. “10 days for engineer”

My broadband speed is down to less than 0.8 mbs where it should be minimum 5 mbs. after ring them 2 x and spending over an hour today with them they tell me that the next available slot is on May 3rd for an engineer to come to see the issue = 10 days!!! Plus I have been informed that it will take 2 working days for someone from customer complaints to ring me back! This is AOL broadband = what a disgrace… Read Full Review

“AOL Are The Tops”

I've been with AOL wireless flexi monthly contract for about six years and I can honestly say that I'n reasonably satisfied with their service. But occassionaly you can't get a connection on wireless especially late at night. I was on a 10GB package with evening and weekend calls at first but when I asked them for a mac code and told them I was thinking of leaving they upgraded me to unlimted broadband with anytime calls to 01,02.03 at no extra cost. “awful customer service”

I have been using AOL/talktalk since it was first available in the UK. I am moving house, and wanted to leave the telephone number. I spent 81 minutes on hold before I spoke to a staff member, then was moved via four other staff members, each requiring all my details, before I was told that I could not leave without speaking to a supervisor about our purchaser keeping the phone line, and I will have to call back after 1000 tomorrow. “BROADBAND RELIABILITY”

BROADBAND SIGNAL KEEPS DROPPING OUT (5-6 TIMES PER DAY). SPEED IS SATISFACTORY BUT RELIABILITY IS VERY VERY FRUSTRATING HAVE TRIED NEW FILTERS ETC A ND A NEW ROUTER SUPPLIED FREE BY AOL BUT THIS MAKES THE PROBLEM EVEN WORSE.(PRESENTLY USING NETGEAR ROUTER). “Flogging a dead horse that's not yet downloaded.”

We went with AOL around 2006 as part of their join us for 24 months and get a free laptop. Which at the time was a good deal. Though on reflection £22 per month for this horse excrement is far too much. However by 2007/08 their service had come to a complete stand still. Constant calls to tech support Bombay where some chap reads out a script proved absolutely useless. “AOL Obstacles in cancellation”

I called the aol service to cancel my aol account because I will be a few months abroad. The 18 month contract has run out at least 4 years ago. Thus, my understanding is that I could walk out at any time. The first time I got through was to an agent who tried a) offered me 6 months free and then when I refused to agree a new contract he b) said I had gone to the wrong department and need to talk to someone else. I opened an AOL account for my son when he went to University, once he graduated I tried on numerous occaisions to cancel the agreement, I spoke to AOL they said I had to cancel in writing, I did this only to still have my money £36 per month still being taken out of my account. In the end out of sheer frustration I cancelled my direct debit. Three months later I had baliffs on the phone threatening all sorts if I didnt pay the outstanding amount, I did this and three months later I have now had another threatening letter from their Stoke on Trent baliffs "advantis" asking for more money. AOL and their bully boys need regulating and quickly, I am now putting this in the hands of the Police as a faudulent practise with harasment and my solicitor. Do not buy from AOL and beware of the thugs at "advantis"

Have been with AOL for awhile then upgraded to the 24mb unlimited deal. Since doing this i have been getting slower speeds than i did before. Im sure they keep throtting me back and when you speak to a customer service agent it is really hard to understand what they are saying and about as much use as a chocolate teapot. I just hope everyone eventually leaves aol as a service provider. I remember joining them in 1997. They have been nothing but trouble to know. I recently had someone hack my email account and all i wanted to do was access my change password service. I've been with AOL since the mid 1990's. My mother is also with them (she's in her 80's)and she recently moved house. I have spent over a week trying to get them to transfer her broadband to the new address and without fail they tell me that they are "upgrading the system" and cannot access her details. reported that we had no broadband connection. Was told that I should ring back in 15 minutes as they could not call me. Then we lost our landline connection as well. I spent nearly 5 hours phoning them. I had the phone put down on me, was put on hold then after 20 minutes cut of. I 100% agree with this comment, stear well clear of them. Once I signed up, my contract went up 3 times and I was informed to read my terms and conditions!
