I've been with AOL since the mid 1990's. My mother is also with them (she's in her 80's)and she recently moved house. I have spent over a week trying to get them to transfer her broadband to the new address and without fail they tell me that they are "upgrading the system" and cannot access her details. Every day they lie to me that it will be up and running "tomorrow" and it never is. So she's paying for a service they won't give her. They put the phone down on me when I said it was... (read more)

We had AOL broadband and telephone: the broadband was ridiculously slow, despite having upgraded our service about 7 months ago, and dropped out at least once a day, some days 20 times a day! Customer services are useless - when I cancelled during my contract I got walloped with a mighty cancellation fee, so I called customer services to say that the amount charged did not seem to me to be in accordance with Ofcom's 2010 ruling: I was told by their representative that the cancellation fee... They increased my speed in July 2012 to 17Mb/s (from a max of 8Mb/s although quite often was much slower) and lowered the cost automatically to £10.31 a month even though I was still on a 12 month contract of £14.99 a month, for unlimited downloads. AOL should be praised for making a customer happy with the broadband service, But judging by the majority of the reviews here and elsewhere you are by far the exception to the rule.
If only AOL would try to give an acceptable broadband service to all the many others it has let down as a reasonable ISP should!
Trust in AOL can only be earned with how they deal with their customers, and in that respect they fail dismally. Beware customer service if you have to contact them for anything other than normal as they maybe technology challenged. Long may your excellent service remain. Me and many others can only dream that AOL may one day give such a service to us!
