After *upgrading my connection from 2meg to 8meg my problems only got worse.
it seems my download speed went from 250KBps to 100KBps after calling their "Helpline" i was put onto someone with a script who told me to test my internet speed and went onto say that there was nothing to do to help.
AOL is a faliure in ISP terms save yourself the headaches and choose a differant ISP

Terrible customer service/Help desk, more like Unhelp desk!. When you ring them up (IN INDIA!!) they go through a set script of questions which takes for ages (90 minutes last time I rang them). They had to repeat what they are saying to me several times as their English was so poor! Every day at 6 o'clock on the dot AOL goes on a go-slow for at least an hour, so regular is this go-slow that I don't even have to look at my watch to know what time it is. And AOL reply was 'a lot of people in your ...- Read Guest's review (134 words)

I will summarize a long story which contain a long list of constantly awful customer service and technical problems in a few words; DO NOT USE AOL! They are an extremely poor company and they are more interested in money grabbing than actually providing a service. For me they are mafia disguised as a registered lawful company. If you like good customer service and a working, stable internet connection which gives you value for money, then AOL is absolutely not for you.

I was with AOL for many years as I thought that I would lose my email address if I left them. I got really fed up of talking to support staff in another country whose command of the English language was very poor and also being given different info each time I spoke to a different person. Aol are really poor and I would not recommend using them at all - I have been with o2 for a year now and they are excellent.- Read Guest's review (84 words)

Recently left aol after 6 years. It was 6 years of daily struggle, and i thought that was how the internet was. Moved to plusnet and its a perfect world. They even rang me up the other day to ask'is everything ok''.Now dealing with normal people from sheffield.
Got a cancellation number from aol, but ime 85% sure they will still stuff me in some way .
Keep well away.- Read Guest's review (68 words)

Awful customer service. Rang loads of times for the same problem and received different advice on each call. One advisor was eating his dinner at the same time as "giving advice". Was with aol for five years, cancelled April 2009 and now have received a nasty letter from a debt collector saying I owe £99.67. £76.67 cancellation fee and £23 for passing the case to them. Received NO correspondence from aol and I wasn't in a fixed term .....going to the citizens advice bureau!- Read Guest's review (80 words)

Im in the process of changing my provider as AOl are appaling. I cannot think of one area that exceed in, only maybe poor service. I continually get disconnected the Wireless speed is normally 1mpbs, although I have to admit my children use Xbox 360 wirelessly. I have asked them on a number of occasions if this can be improved and not received a reply. Poor service that i would not recommend !!- Read Guest's review (71 words)

they never inform you when they cut you off so they can do there updates, when they do there updates its when most people are online, why dont the thick idiots do it at quiet times like other ip's.you dont get what you pay for ie 8meg more like 2-3 if your lucky.none of the customer support can speak a word of english and i sounds like they are 10 million miles away.the old modem (dial up) was faster than the crappy system they have now and more reliable.but hey i think we can blame (car phone war ...- Read Guest's review (194 words)

It was alright when it was owned by American company, since the migration to Carphone Warehouse it is nothing but trouble. The customer service is awful, those guys don't know what they are doing and just keep on asking the same stupid questions. After talking for over 2 hours on the phone and spending around 3 hours checking cables, replacing rooters etc I gave up on them and now after 15 years with AOL I am finally leaving them for good.- Read Guest's review (78 words)

I suffered AOL broadband for 2 years or so. It continually disconnected. Customer service were helpful but the same problem happened again and again, namely disconnection all the time, slow speeds. I've changed to BT Option 2 and it's no better, slow and continual disconnections.- Read Guest's review (43 words)

After being a customer with AOL for 5 years I was suprised to find that my monthly charge had increased from £9.99 to £17.99. When I rang to question the reason why (I hadn't received any written notification) AOL told me it was due to the charge they were receiving from BT for renting their equipment at the exchange. The representative was rude and very quick to tell me that if I did my research I would find out that AOL were the cheapest for me. I did my research and found the o ...- Read Guest's review (152 words)

Terrible and unreliable service with technical support based in India. Apalling customer service and connectivity issues. After spending 25 minutes plus on the phone to talk to customer service representative chances are you'll get cut off mid call and have to start whole process again. Unbelivably you can only make a complaint by post as AOL won't liaise via email!- Read Guest's review (59 words)

Dont even go there, AOL is a bunch of people unable to turn on a kettle, but more than happy to con you out of every penny they can from initial fees to even making up lies after you cancel so you pay even more or face bad debt records.- Read Guest's review (50 words)
