Where shall I start? I moved my business account to AIB back in 2006. First impressions were good and I had an excellent service & relationship with them. Then things changed. My relationship manager changed to a person who was fundamentally incompetent. I have never met him (like I have with all the others) I just get rude letters from him, threatening to close the account because their own incompetence has created problems.
I paid a cheque in to their branch in Uxbridge. It took five days to reach my account (If I pay in through Nat West, it takes two days!). If I make an online BACS payment now the cash leaves my account as soon as I authorise the payment (previously it left on the day of transfer). This creates a serious (possibly fatal) cashflow problem if I want to authorise payments for 30 days ahead (say I am on holiday at the end of a month).
The final straw was them withdrawing (unilaterally) my authority to debit customers for bulk payments. This has robbed me of a regular income stream as part of their 'policy decision'.
This bank wants to screw it's customers into the ground - avoid it like the plague!

when we opened our account, we had the mail sent to the wrong address..not once but 3 times.!!
Bank is probably the worst account we have ever had.....
Fees are on the verge of extortion.!!..senior management have no decision making ability ...it all has to go to a senior manager in uxbridge or an underwriter..even for £5k ?
Not a straight Bank,, Avoid at all costs...

Worst business banking relationship I have ever had the misfortune of handling. I have been head of finance department (and therefore banking relationships) for over 7 years. Allied Irish Bank Business Bank Account is covered in red tape and bureaucratic processes and constant excuses - simply pathetic. I spent more time managing the single banking relationship than I did with our other 12 banking relationships, requiring constant chaser calls. I have eventually changed over to Barclays without any issues what so ever.

Allied Irish Bank - Long waiting period for cheques clearing and general slow service.

Allied Irish Bank claims to be a full service business bank but its service is below that of a clearing bank. As it is not a clearing bank, it takes at least an additional day to clear cheques deposited. In my unfortunate experience the bank regularly made errors on simple banking matters that I have never seen made by a clearing bank. The senior staff are friendly but the junior staff are pretty poor. The bank has high charges for business banking and does not pay interest on credit balances on business current accounts. In frustration I had to move my business account.
