    Dreadful.

That's why they have been featured on Radio 4's Moneybox programme today.....so many account holders have complained.

Why go to the BBC? Because Co-op do not respond to written or email complaints about their shambolic web and phone service.

It is not ethical for them to add new account holders when their service does not work. It is not ethical for them to pretend everything is OK and ignore the damage they are doing to their account holders businesses.

    Ethical? They pick and choose.

Don't understand these bad reviews - every bank may have an off day but in terms of overall customer service the Co-op is excellent. The staff really care and on one occasion they called me, told me they had made a mistake on my business account, that they had put it right and had credited my account with £25 for the trouble - if you can find one other bank (anywhere in the world) that would do this then I'll eat my computer!
Their internet banking has had its problems but they tell me tha ...

I love the co-op. I have my personal accounts with them and the internet banking _for the personal login_ is fantastic... straightforward and fast.

When I moved by business accounts over from HSBC I was expecting the same high standards. NO CHANCE!!!

Shockingly slow! It is almost a joke. Slower than dial-up. Feels like im in the 80's.

I have to send _a fax_ (yeah, exactly, what the hell is a fax?!?) to send international transfers... nightmare given that I do this about 5 times a day!!!

Awful, awful website. I'm really not exaggerating.

It's always been slow and frequently stopped displaying my balances and transactions, but it's now been properly broken (error messages and crashes) for over a week. A whole week!!! I get mildly annoyed if my free email account goes down for a few minutes but these people have thousands of pounds of my money in their system!

They obviously don't think that on-line banking is very important to business customers so I strongly advise you not to ...

It is early days and I've been spoiled by the far superior RBS and Smile internet banking experiences on a personal level and the Coutts and NatWest ones which a couple of clients use.
My Co-operative Bank Business account has been open for about 2 months now and the internet banking details have only just arrived despite promises that the transition from my thankfully still functioning RBS business account would be quick and seamless. I just thank my lucky stars that I didn't elect to have them ...

    Crash. Crash. Crash. Slow. Crash.

The internet banking service is torture.

Three years in development and still useless, I wait ten minutes to attempt a single payment, then get disconnected with an error message.

Why have the Coop not sacked the entire development team? It does not take a genius to see the servers are overloaded by a poorly engineered architecture. It is not of commercial quality and should never have been released.

Error messages on the screen every time I log on .... not good enough.

    If I could give z ...

A complete shambles rates this bank too highly. I used it to open an account for a local residents' association. Not only did it take me three months to fill in all the forms correctly but the online account is utterly useless - when I can get online. As I only access the account every six weeks or so my password expires and I am forced to phone up (business hours only) in order to get a password reset. When I can get online the transaction listings do not give me the names of people who have pa ...

As so many other reviewers, I really would like to stay with Co-operative Bank for ethical reasons but simply have to move now as the online banking is so unreliable. Sorry - reliably awful. I've waited over 8 months for it to be fixed, but finally have to concentrate on my actual business not their status bar.

No progress, no updates, only excuses - and a suggestion to phone through payments. Phone through my staff's bank and salary details in an open plan office?

Sorry guys, we're all Corba ...

Co-op online banking system is a complete disgrace for any bank in the developed world.
Not only is the user interface terribly clunky, but the frequent unavailability, unplanned outages and gobbledigook CORBA error messages cause you to wonder at the competence and customer-focus of the business over all.
This has been going on for the four years we have had our business account with them. Continuous improvement? I don't think so.

Such a shame, given the positive ethical stance, but there's ...

I can't tell you how disappointed we are with the Co-operative Bank Business Bank Account. we switched to them because of the advert in the FSB news letter and because of their ethical policies but the service has been appalling at "root and branch level". By the errors they make it seems as if they have lost confidence and the knock on effect means we have lost confidence in them too. We will be looking to change our businees account.

I have been with the Co-op for ten years and found them to be consistantly excellent in service. The internet banking has been flawless, the call team friendly and helpful. I wouldn't move banks if you paid me.

We really want them to be good because of their ethical policy, but nothing can hide the fact that they are a complete shambles at times. I have experienced incorrect charges, mail sent to the wrong address, repeatedly, duplicated transactions on statements, and regular failure of the online banking system. What's more, it doesn't matter how many times I write a letter of complaint, they never 'seem' to receive it.

What else can I say? Internet banking is frankly appalling - the worst banking website I have had the misfortune to encounter. Despite continued reassurances that it is going to be improved, it doesn't get any better (I am now talking about over a couple of years!).

Business online banking painfully slow or non functional. Has been like this for over a year now. I am writing this whilst waiting for my bank statement to appear. Financial Director software (used for direct debits from our customers accounts) is difficult and quirky to use. Have been using workarounds for months (like deliberately using an incorrect date to get software to work. Staff either very helpful or difficult.

It's free banking.. so I guess you get what you pay for. The Business Internet Banking service is awful. It's often not available. The default statement display only shows todays transactions and the widget to set an earlier date is very slow if it works at all.
When reconciling my bank statements I found a cheque I had sent with 2 other cheques on the same paying in slip had been omitted from the credit. When I queried it, the money was paid but with no apology or explanation.

I am with the Co-op because of its ethical policy. I see this as paramount. The service has been good enough and efficient enough to run my business for years now. I don't have any problems with banking online. Although it says there are technical problems. I never have any. I am a small business and don't seem to have excessive charges. Any cash is paid into the local post office which is closer than the nearest town. And cheques are paid in by post. No problems for years!

You have to use the post office to bank cash because their branch network is so small. 70p per credit. (They closed the Guildford branch soon after I opened our account there.)

£3 month service charge. 17p/electronic credit/debit, 23p cheques. providing min balance is £1000, otherwise 70p per item.

Note: telephone banking takes 4 days to arrive, but internet banking only 3.

You can't use the Coop supermarkets for business banking - only personal accounts. ...

My final straw with the Co-op banks dreadfully unreliable internet banking service came when the site was down for TWO WHOLE WEEKS in the run up to Christmas 2007. I had to resort to paying all our suppliers and contractors by cheque and apologise profusely that they wouldn't have cleared funds in time for the festive season. I'm shifting our business account to one that actually has a functioning internet banking service that doesn't let you down when you most need it.
