Good Points: Fairly good internet banking.
Bad Points: Non existent relationship with my manager.
General comments: I was with Bank of Scotland for 5 years and for first time I've been asked to provide bank reference which came bad for no reason. I always paid and never went into nagative balances, so this reference was a shock to me and I will change them ASAP.

Abysmal communication. Have tried to open total business account but no one calls back. I have called four times and told someone would be in contact. I Have been told that managers are being told to discourage existing Scottish BOS customers to open this account as it is designed to attract English custom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Bank of Scotland Business Bank Account 'relationship' manager - is useless he has never contacted us. We tried to expand our business twice in fact and asked for help. How silly of us to ask for help! In return when we eventually got to speak with him on the first occasion it was too late and we had missed the boat. If BOS customer support is this bad then it does not bode well for anyone who opens an account with them.
I Visited the BOS web site to download a brochure to review detail T&Cs for the BOS Total Business bank account. Unfortunately the web based system advised new customers should contact a Branch. I have banked with Bank of Scotland online for many years; both personal and business, and it used to be very good. It all went rapidly down hill after the merger with Halifax. I now have to use two different websites for business and personal banking.

I wanted to move my account from Cater Allen to a Bank of Scotland Business Bank Account, because they didn't have any kind of online banking (telephone only). I already had a BOS account, which was set up fairly painlessly, so I imagined that this would be the easiest option.

I have banked with the Bank of Scotland for 25 years. I have a new business that has just started trading. When I applied for a simple business account, it took the Bank of Scotland 3 weeks to contact me, only to then refuse me an account, even though I have no adverse credit and did not want any credit from the Bank of Scotland. The banks failure to open my account has cost my small business money and reputation.

My complaint with Royal Bank of Scotland is at the most basic level. A Bank is there to pay in and withdraw money. I pay in at my local Halifax. If I get a cheque payable to my company I hate it as the staff at Halifax do not understand the system and make me feel I am a nuisance whenever I pay in. I'm an IT contractor working from home. Bank of Scotland internet banking worked well for me. Until the day that I mistyped my username, twice. My account was locked out. I then phoned the helpline. I couldn't remember the telephone password. I "failed" the password and BoS then told me that my internet account and telehone banking accounts were frozen and that I would have to re-apply in writing using the forms that they would send me to re-open my accounts!!!!!

Royal Bank of Scotland
Having run our business current account from Barclays for a number of years along side a deposit account at Bank of Scotland, our service at Bank of Scotland has been excellent, with red carpet treatment from our bank manager.
I was suprised to see negative reviews on this bank which is what motivated me to add my review.

Spoke to a guy in Bank of Scotland call centre re opening a Business Bank Account. I asked if I could arrange a meeting with someone in branch to go over business plan etc but was told this was all done over the phone now.
