Good Points: None that I can think of.
Bad Points: Too numerous to mention but amongst many are: extremely poor customer service with little useful contact; call centres staffed by people who can barely speak English; no international relationships between the banks (despite being the "world's local bank" the Greek banks can't talk to the UK banks and the UK banks have no meaningful relationship with the US banks).
General comments: We have struggled with HSBC business banking for so long we're giving up. They are appalling: today all our credit cards were cancelled because of fraud and yet HSBC won't let us know where that fraud took place and what we can do about it, so how can we prevent this from happening again? We can't access foreign currency accounts online and, perhaps most annoying, they refuse to use email to contact unlike our other banks. I feel they are too large to care about individual customers.

After having been a personal customer of HSBC for a number of years I should have known better than to try to open a Business account with them, but as I intend to operate (eventually) in foreign countries too, I thought a bank with an international presence would be the best way to go. I have a personal loan with HSBC - no missed/late payments or problems, but I got a joint account at another bank with my fiance when we moved in together, so my salary from my employer is paid into the joint acc ...

You just get the feeling that HSBC is a serious bank that can cope with all types of businesses, big and small, simple and complex.

You cross a magical threshold at HSBC when your business is deemed to be of sufficient value to them that you become "relationship managed". Overnight the service goes from average to excellent. I now have a dedicated point of contact with mobile phone number and email address together with access to the support staff at the local commercial centre. If you want to speak to somebody outside of working hours you deal with UK call centres only but you need to register for a PIN number otherwise ...

If you get the choice do not bank with HSBC. They are so bad words cannot describe them. I have several business accounts with them, I have been trying to swap the account that my pdq machines feeds into for 7 weeks now. A simple task you may think, I have made over 30 phone calls to who knows where often on hold for 30 mins and then put through to the wrong person. Every time you speak with them you have to go through the whole problem again and again, its not the call centres fault it is t ...

I have had a business account with HSBC for over 3 years now - my turnover is over million pound. I have found they change bank managers every time you build a relationship with one, they either leave or get promoted leaving you in situation where you have to develop your relationship again and again. In three years I have had four managers and this current one is young kid who has no clue what corporate banking means just a kid with power tool in his hand.

I have been banking with them for 20 years on a personal level, and 4 years business wise, and I'm fed up with their customer service (there isn't any).
Communications with the local HSBC branch are impossible, unless you walk around with your statements and cheque book all the time.

I have been with them for over 20 years, which seems to count for nothing. I spend more time managing the account because of their lack of customer care, rather than using the HSBC Business Bank Account.
If it was simple and I could see reviews for a good business account I would have moved several years ago.

Their customer service is terrible. Telephone banking is particularly awful, and not only unhelpful but some information given is actually incorrect. The only way to contact our local HSBC branch is to drive there and then wait sometimes hours (I'm not joking!) to see someone because they only have two staff on duty, and they are both required to stay on the cashier desks or to fax them with a request for them to ring you when they've got time. Our account manager gave us his direct phone numb ...

I have been banking with HSBC for several years now, and I have found them to be one of the worst banks I have ever had to deal with. My Manager is exceptional, but he is now leaving. I have been using the NEW security device, which is a joke, as you need to keep it with you, and as such it keeps breaking as it is not robust enough. When it breaks no one in India can assist you in getting another one, and when you have received a replacement it is like contacting the Queen to get it working a ...

Charges on the HSBC Business Bank Account are high after the free banking runs out. I wanted to switch to their Business Direct account which is free, and I had so much trouble getting through to them. I went to the branch, and they said I could do this switch online. I tried that, and the online system said I had to phone, so I called and spoke to 3 different people, before being told to visit the branch again.
I shall be transferring my account to another bank.

We have had our bank account with them for 9 years, and during this time I have lost count of the Business Managers we have had. The latest, is our Manager went on holiday for 2 weeks and nobody else is allowed to deal with our account but him. We have tried ringing telephone banking, but they are unhelpful. We will be changing banks this year.

Unless you are from a Review organisation (eg. Which) and are opening the HSBC Business Bank Account to test the services, I would strongly recommend that you avoid it all costs.

I cannot believe how bad the service is with HSBC bank. As soon as the free banking period is up we are switching banks. The staff at the actual branch are friendly, but the call centre is in India, and offers truly appalling service. I can't get any sense out of anyone at this place. In direct contrast with my personal banking at the Halifax where I receive a good response from their UK call centres. How can they be the "Worlds Local Bank" when I can't even call my local branch? Instead I h ...

I began banking with HSBC for my business needs just over 2 years ago. I chose them as the branch is local and there was a helpful business manager in the branch. In 2 years they have had 3 business managers, all getting increasingly useless and harder to get hold of. They are now not having business managers in the branch. I can not have a direct line to the branch to ask a simple question, I have to go through the Indian call centre, and I can't even get through security, as apparently I d ...

My business banking needs are very simple. I receive money from a small number of clients (I'm a consultant) and pay a small number of suppliers (e.g. telephone) by cheque or internet banking. I make a few "expenses"-style purchases each month using a bank card. For these services I pay, to my shame, around £10 per month.
How can HSBC get this simple scenario so completely wrong, and yet charge so much for it?
The internet banking system is a complete joke. You are encouraged to ...

HSBC has been a good bank for me, but when they depersonalised the services, to save money I first moved my private account to First Direct.
Now I will have to move my business account. There is no service anymore with HSBC. With the rates they charge, one should expect a person on the phone and a problem sorted from time to time.
Customer since 1991. Will change soon.

Ridiculous... I have been with the HSBC bank 16 years and had a Business Bank Accounts for 4... received nothing but hassle and im finally getting round to changing. Try to have as little to do with them as possible... questions always fobbed of to 'go down to your branch and ask!' . Not for a busy business person.
Never go to my branch without standing in a queue.
Charge you for everything with no flexibilty regardless of how long you have been with them and good a customer you are. ...
