General comments: My Elderly mother got onto a Finglands bus - it is a free service for NHS staff patients and visitors. She had checked with them prior to using the service, that she was entitled to do so, and was informed that she was. On entering the bus she was asked for her pass, and when she informed the driver she did not have one she was told in no uncertain terms she was not entitled to use the bus. She immediately said she would get off, and was told she could stay on owing to the weather being wet... A nice driver you might think.. NO... For the whole of the journey he made it perfectly clear she was not entitled to use the bus, and that the hospital/bus service should stop telling people they can. It was paid for by hospital staff not the likes of my mother... My mother who was already feeling low owing to the fact that her husband, my father, was undergoing treatment in hospital... My mother who has worked hard all of her life and paid into the NHS, and paid taxes, was made to feel like a sponger and a low life. The bus driver then failed to pick up some other people desperately waving down the bus, and when my mother finally alighted after the torrent of abuse, she was in tears and in turn upset my father who was told he needed to take it easy after his operation. If such people cannot be considerate and decent to others then they SHOULD NOT be employed within the public service.
