We chose La Lohuas last year because it has a heated covered swimming pool and we enjoyed it so much we returned this year with our daughter and grandchildren. We rented two of the gites and although the weather was rubbish this summer we had a very restful time. For children there are often other children to play with (we had 11 children on site for our fortnight) and apart from the pool is the playbarn and field and the animals to feed every morning. Half an hour from the beach and... (read more)

La Lohuas is the perfect destination if you're holidaying with young children. When we stayed there in 2011, our children were 5,3 and 8 months and we all loved it. We have already booked to go back in 2012. The location was perfect for exploring that part of Brittany. It is close to beaches and interesting towns, as well as having several child friendly attractions nearby. The gite we stayed in was very well equipped and child friendly and Caroline has thought of every detail to make your... (read more)

We stayed in La Lohuas in Brittany for 2 weeks in July 2011 and had a ball! With a 4yr and 2yr old, choosing was tricky but we really hit gold with this place. There is plenty to do nearby and in the gite area, and everywhere was clean and welcoming; especially the pool. Even if it's raining there are plenty of things to do onsite: swimming pool, chicken and animal feeding in the mornings, and lots of toys/games in the barn/garden area. And if you don't have a car - or feel lazy - there is a... (read more)

We stayed at La Lohuas in June 2011 and would highly recommend it. Caroline was the perfect hostess - providing lots of useful information, occasional meals (so nice to be cooked for!) and food for the chickens (my son's favourite activity of the holiday). The gite itself (Cerise) was very well equipped and spacious. The only two negatives were the lack of blackout blinds on the skylight windows (we put blankets over them so our kids wouldn't wake ridiculously early!) and the fact that, in... (read more)

Very nice gite and more than enough space for our family of 5. Kids of all ages got together in the evenings and had a great time, not to mention a lot of fun in the swimming pool. Caroline was a very helpful and friendly host. La Lohuas can be warmly recommended! (read more)

We visited La Lohuas in September 2011 with our two boys, aged 3 and 16 months. The set up is great for families - feeding the chickens was a lovely start every morning, having the outside play area and play barn was fantastic for days when wanted a lazy day at the gite, and the swimming pool was a huge hit all round. The weather was on the cool side during our stay so having a heated pool with the cover was perfect. For days out there is so much to do for families - zoo, lovely parks and... (read more)

We stayed at La Lohuas Gites in August 2011, with our two daughters (aged 7 and 9) and had the best holiday we've had for 10+ years. The accomodation (Poire) is spacious and has everything you need, including two en-suite showers. Outside, you have a large table and parassol, and access to barbeques, washing machines and drying facilities. For the children, there is a fantastic outdoor heated pool, with a cover that blocks the suns' rays, so no sunburn. The code for the pool is also a... (read more)

We were introduced to La Lohuas Gites, and Caroline, by our English friends and were pleased about that! We had a wonderful time, not only because the accommodation and facilities are excellent but it is also a great jumping off spot to see some of Brittany, especially the old towns of Dinan and Dinard, with its huge beaches, and of course Mont St Michael should not be missed. Finally, Caroline is a great host and most helpful in every way. We would love to come back. Ron & Pat Kerr, Jane... (read more)

We had a fantastic family holiday (our children are 2 and 5) at La Lohuas. It is in a lovely setting in the Brittany countryside, but within five minutes drive of two large supermarkets and other shops and restuarants. The gite (cerise) was very comfortable, clean and had everything you needed and would have at home. There is also freesat Uk television with childrens channels. The grounds surrounding the gites are fantastic. There is a huge, safe grassed area with swings, slides, a... (read more)

We have just booked for our eighth stay I think...... a lovely relaxing holiday. Great location for beaches, the medieval town of Dinan, lovely canal walks and fantastic seafood.
The gites are comfortable, clean and well equipped, set in gardens with a play area that keeps the children entertained for hours, leaving the adults free to sip a glass of wine and enjoy the sunshine.
Close to the ferry and with a supermarket 5 minutes drive away, this is an easy and economical holiday as self...

We returned to La Lohuas after having had such a lovely holiday here last year. This time returning with our newest addition, just 3 months old - along with older brother (5) and sister (2). The holiday was again a great success (if somewhat hectic!). The older 2 loving the trampoline, table tennis, chicken ritual, playing with Hugh and collecting random eggs! We re-visited Combourg, Dinan (of course, though this time braved the Clock tower - hold on tight when the bells are about to... (read more)

Well equipped gites, lots of playground facilities for young children with a small animal farm and only 5 minutes south of Dinan, 5 minutes north west of Zoo/Chateau de la Bourbansais, 20 to 30 minutes from the Brittany beaches and St. Malo etc. Lovely little towns to visit. The Gites don't have television, but we are so busy with sight seeing and enjoying food and wine, that after been here for the last 2 years we never have missed a television. Bad points, None as far as we are concerned. (read more)

We have just returned from a very relaxing week at La Lohuas. The five gites are situated about three miles from the mediaeval town of Dinan, around a courtyard, in the centre of which was a fish pond with lots of Koi and other ornamental fish. There is also other livestock around in the shape of cows, a Goose a duck and several chickens, and their babies (in June 2008)
The website does not do justice to the finish of the accommodation. Fixtures, fittings and equipment provided were all of...

This was a wonderful location for a holiday with children. The three gites are all well equipped and the childrens play area is huge. The (English) owners Ian and Caroline are helpful without intruding. Having a Laundry Room made packing much simpler. The local town (Dinan) is gorgeous and many other lovely towns and spectacular (and deserted) beaches are nearby. We had a great time and have booked to go again. (read more)

Brittanygites's Response to susan792091's Review

Hi Susan
Thank you for your review, I'm glad that you had a lovely holiday. With regards to your comments about the lack of a gated terrace, I have just measured the distance to the road from the gites (to help other readers) which is 100 metres. In 10 years, there has never been an issue with children going that way because all the attractions for them - the fenced and gated play area, the animals, etc are in the opposite direction.
Kind regards
Caroline
