    GET AWAY FROM YELL.COM
You can almost consider it a SCAM, they promised me an free trial period of 6 weeks and a call from the supposed account manager to decide if I would keep the advert or would be terminated.
Started to get calls from yell asking to paid the full year. When called the account manager Mr. Gary Carrol he did not answer any of the calls.
Bottom line, the free trial is a scam to get hold of your money.
There is no such thing as free anything from Yell.com.
Unless you are sure that you want to pay for the advert, DO NOT AGREE to do ANYTHING or you will be charged.

Hope this will help future victims from online adverts in Yell.com website

I signed up for a massive Yell.com advert campaign covering the Midlands for a courier business i started. Was expecting (and salesman did promise) lots of contact and for my website to be busy. You can guess what happened next!

Tried to cancel but Yell.com passed unpaid money to debt agency. Luckily all in the companies name so wasn't bothered and currently throw any letters in bin.

I now run a few different business and took a different tactic learning how to make a business website show up ...

As a Yell user I find it very annoying that preference is given to the big advertisers as opposed to the people that I want to find in my area - an example of this is that I needed an electricain to change a light fitting for me the 1st page was full of listings covering my area but after wasting MY MONEY calling them to get no after no that the job was too small its not right. I've been really put off by Yell.com money making tactics - they aren't providing a service to me - I don't want a lis ...

DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH YELL! My partner decided to place an "in book" advert for the year and an enhanced online listing. Costing him £200 pounds a month and he has had 1 call! I am on the case and have demended that Yell at least remove the online listing so he no longer has to pay for it. They are refusing to do this. His business is suffering as he has this expenditure every month and quite frankly I want to take this further! Maybe Watchdog would be interested in how the advertising g ...

    Can anyone answer this question?
Why in this day and age of recycling I got a new yellow pages delivered to my door and another two left on my garden path about one foot away from the first one. Was the delivery person just too tired or maybe he or she took a weak turn. So if not collected they will be going into my recycle bin.
What a waste of someones money!

Advertised with Yell.com since 2004 - simple listing as I am a sole trader. Only had 2 business enquiries, both not worth my time I feel. All other enquiries were from other businesses trying to sell me web design, mobile phones, copiers and transport solutions. Then there were all the phishing emails from overseas people. It seems I had been paying for these others to contact me, I was unaware that Yell.com sell their lists. So they win whatever happens. When it came to renewing in 2007, I said ...

Been with yellow pages at least 20 years and gradually increased the advertising each year.
Last years, oct 2007 book has been a disaster. We think its been mainly due to an 0845 number counter being put on at the reps overpowering suggestion. This has put local people off ringing and with double the budget of previous years it should have been better.
We monitor the calls and the majority have been from web site designers who want to sell. We realise yellow pages cannot be blamed for this but I ...

I have just placed an advert with yellow pages, cost me over £500.00 they also gave me an 0845 number so I could track my new found wealth of customers. Well I have had 3 callers in 9 weeks - I'll let you make your own mind up.

    Poor value for money
Preference given to companies that pay for larger adverts.
Try HelpHound instead, its far better.
