After a week of use developed spots on arms, legs and neck where it had been applied. After research discovered most likely an allergic reaction to oxybenzone. Eyes and ears swelled up. Put on a course of amethystine which has controlled the swelling. Red rash on my arms is now the worst part, very itchy and wakes me up during the night numerous times, have written to Johnston & Johnston. I hope if does not last too long - will be looking for that dreaded oxybenzone on the label in future.

I am so relieved to have finally found out what is causing this awful rash - initially the pharmacist and doctor thought it was caused by bacteria in the water in the dam that I had swum in, and put me on cortisone cream and antibiotics - none of which have helped. A week later I am now down in Kwa Zulu Natal at the coast and again this extremely itchy rash has reappeared and after another sleepless scratching night I decided to get to the bottom of it!! Thank you for your reviews - its a relie ...

In 2007 we went to Eygpt and took a stock of Piz Buin out with us. After a few days I found myself holed up in my hotel room for 5 days, covered in calamine lotion, with the doctor coming to see me 3 times for Cortizone injections. I had developed Urticara (also known as Hives). The doctor explained it might be an allergy to the sun - it was very hot out there in June so I thought maybe this was a one off, although this has never ever happened to me before, I am a complete sun worshipper and alw ...

I have used this product for a number of years after having a reaction to a cream called no-ad in 2003.Since then I have used Piz Buin Allergy and everything has been great. Earlier this year I had a break away and used SPF 30 in a mild sun environment and came out in a terrible rash with the swollen eyes and skin shedding mentioned before.I put it down to not using the allergy version of Piz Buin, so in Sept when we went on holiday I made sure I used the allergy version but after the first day ...

Have gone back to pharmacies but they no longer stock i???

I too have had a severe reaction to Piz Buin factor 15 sun lotion. I have been a fan of piz buin for many years and stocked up again this spring but wished I hadn't! After applying the lotion on holiday in Spain in June I developed a rash all over my body, it started as sore red lumps then turned into little red spots, itchy, sore and unsightly. It stopped me sitting in the sun as it was too uncomfortable. I went to my Dr twice and was prescribed hydrocortizone and anti histamine, however ne ...

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Tenerife. 3 days into the holiday I came out in a red, itchy rash all over my body including my face and neck. Anti histamine tablets and hydrocortisone cream didn't seem to be having any effect. I assumed this was a severe heat rash and would disappear when I returned to the UK...no chance unfortunately... worse was to come. The rash was still incredibly itchy at home and one morning shortly after I returned home I woke up with swollen eyes. I h ...

Having sensitive skin prone to eczema I tried Piz Buin Allergy for the fist time in 2007, the product was fantastic, unlike other products which cause a burning sensation when applied and can cause itchiness, I was very pleased to find a product that worked with my dodgy skin...then I restocked in 2008 for my summer holiday...big mistake, they have made some serious changes to the product which brought my skin out in a painful, sore, red, itchy eczema like rash all over my body. At the time I tho ...

I have also used Piz Buin for many years including their one day long ltions.

After buying some new lotions this year I have come out in a red blotchy itchy rash on my face and neck arms and legs. I thought it was a sun allergy but after using it again on my face and neck again today when it wasn't as warm and sunny as I thought it was going to be I came out in the same rash.

As I had "restocked" when some offers were on it will now all have to be thrown away.

    I won't be using this product a ...

I'm on holiday in Spain at the moment and have come out in a terrible rash after using Piz Buin One Day Factor 15. It is on most of my body except, thankfully, my face (at the moment!). It is sore, red and itchy, especially on my legs. It is making me feel nauseous. I am currently trying to find out if my travel insurance will cover me to cut my holiday short as I feel so awful I just want to go home. Please do not buy this product!!! I have never had an allergic reaction to anything in my ...

I returned from a week in Turkey on 21st July and two days later developed a hot itchy rash all over my body. On visiting the doctor I was prescribed very high dose anti-histamine and cortizone cream. Neither had any effect, the itching was unbearable and my whole body felt like it was on fire. It took almost 4 weeks to go. I had no idea it was the suncream until two days ago when I decided to sit out in the garden(finally the rash had gone and I could enjoy the sunshine) I applied Piz Buin fac ...

Like many of the other posts I too have reacted very badly. I have used the Piz Buin once a day application many times previously. This time however I am in agony - I returned from holiday 3 days ago and still have angry red rash, my skin feels like it is crawling with a burning sesation on my arms and face. Can anyone advise how long this is likely to last.

I spent a week in Portugal at the end of July and my husband and I both used Piz Buin factor 15 everyday. I have used Piz Buin for years and never had a reaction like this! I was actually ok while on holiday, just a few heat spots but the day after I came back my skin started to feel quite itchy. By the 3rd day my skin was burning and itchy like I have never felt before! I too ended up on antihistamines and steroid creams but the best relief was to keep a tub of aqueous cream in the fridge and u ...

I have sun-sensitive skin and have used Piz Buin sun cream for nearly 20 years without any problems. However during my recent holiday to Greece I developed a horrible red itchy rash all over my arms. I didn't associate it with the sun cream at the time I just assumed it was the heat.

Thank goodness I didn't use it on my face.

I returned from a 2 week holiday on 14th August, the last week being totally spolit by a nasty red and extremely itchy rash plus swelling around my neck and eyes from piz buin. I visited the local doctor and was given a steriod injection plus anti histamine tablets. One week later I am still suffering. Having read the other reviews of Piz Buin I am now sure that this was the cause of the problem. Like other reviewers I have used Piz Buin for many years, as has my husband, who also had a much ...

I too have suffered a severe allergic reaction to the Piz Buin 1 day long lotion as described by others on this site, needing treatment with steroids and antihistamines. The itching is still a problem after 3 weeks but is now improving. I have used this product for the last 2 years and found it great but the problem seems to be that they have now added oxybenzone (look it up - its not nice!)to the product. The packaging gives you no reason to think the product has changed. I have contacted Johns ...

After reading other Piz Buin In Sun Allergy Lotion reviews i can totally understand how you all feel. i have just come back from 2 weeks in Spain and spent 12 of the 14 days inside.
I have a rash all over my body that it red and very itchy and my face and eyes are so swollen that i had to visit the walk in centre this morning.
I cannot see out of one eye and my skin has been described as it looks like i have had a chemical peel.
